I watch these machines at work, and in the mining industry cannot even imagine what the dust does to bushings, pins etc. Not to mention the internal engine components! I'm glad for state of the art cabs!! I remember well the years I personally spent operation machinery, before cabs entered the work scene. SO thankful these workers are safe from many of the elements.
Tho the dirt and dust from the overburden are major concerns, the real threat I think comes from the coal itself, and the abrasives along with it. Just notice how the coal's abrasives polish the buckets to an almost mirror finish.
In spite of handling coal the trucks and loader looks clean. How is it possible. Dedication towards work.
