There isn't a touch latency problem. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnification gesture and turn it off. You have it enabled and that happens and loads of phones turn it off and your problem will be fixed. Please like this comment so he sees.
And there's no issue on touch screen latency on my OPO and OP5, and i am using it as my daily driver with no problem on typing at all. I don't know why every tech reviewer is saying this, even my colleague is not getting any issue on his device.
because you haven't used a Samsung S8 or S7 or whatever. The touch screens are so much better :) But if you've only used OnePlus phones you are used to it and you adapted to the screen's speed

This is nonsense I've come from an S8+ and there is no noticeable touch latency on my Op5 over the S8. If anything the software lag on the S8 affects touch latency more.
I really don't get why the oneplus 5 is getting so much hate.Other than it's copycat design it's the fastest phone with the fastest way of charging.Camera review was harsh in this video compared to other vids,but it has a solid camera.1080p display is just fine and most people won't even notice the difference if they were given a blind test.
Loved your detailed review! however the touchscreen latency you describe mainly in the context of the keyboard may be a misreading on your part. The legendary Swiftkey app has been acting up on some phones. See can find the issue in any other keyboards like the Google Indic Keyboard or even Fleksy?
don't get me wrong... depending on what phone you used before there is a very good chance that you will never notice that touch screen latency lag. if you haven't used the latest flagship phones from samsung , LG or apple you will never be able to tell. it was just a personal observation that i've always noticed with OnePlus devices
Dear redskull, I currently have no touch latency issues but, I did however, experience this when I went into the accessibility options and enabled the three tap magnification gesture; once I switched it back off, the latency issue dissapeared, that may have been what you have been facing, also you can focus on close objects when you go into pro mode and use the manual focus.

For latency issues, I wonder how these phones will stack up against each other after a year's use. Most people only get new phones every 2 years. I switched from Samsung because of their laggy Touchwiz overlay and lack of updates. If I get a new Samsung right when it is released, I MAY get 1 year's worth of updates. Usually less. So the phone really starts to bog down. I used my OPO for 2 years and it had barely slowed down in all that time and was still getting OS updates. It had started to run a little hot on some games but I think it needed a good reset and it would have easily lasted another year (if I hadn't dropped it one too many times).
I can't afford it anyway but that no sd card would be a killer if if I could, why do that? Alex, you mention the decent music quailty, can you recommend any other cheaper devices with decent audio output please? Cheers.
Better looking isnt all that important to me. I rather have bigger bezels with a fingerprintsensor on the front. I never noticed input lag on my Oneplus One. Could it be the used keyboard?
if you haven't used a phone that doesn't have the same touch screen latency you will not notice it because you are already used to it and it feels normal. It's not a defect, it's just a different type of screen used

Alex, You are not the only one that doesn't like that alert slider, I find it a terrible idea as Android by default has quiet hours built-in and you can set your phone to get quiet at certain time and back in the morning but Oneplus has removed that from OxygenOS, now if you forget to use the alert slider you might have a really bad sleep. Further more Android has profiles in the settings that you can set to automatically change all the settings on the phone based on detecting and connecting to a Wifi connection, i use that to turn all the sounds to very low as I enter my work place and its very useful, again was removed by Oneplus because it conflicts with the alert slider. That was the main reason I didn't buy OP3/OP3T and OP5 and still using my Oneplus One. Again they copied that Alert slider from iPhones just like the dual camera on the OP5, not sure why they like copying Apple so much.

lol if you have it on auto brightness it doesn't adjust it high enough.. you can manually set auto brightness higher.. just an FYI.. I have no problem in glare or outside.

I agree. The reason why I choose to get a OnePlus 5, is because of the root friendly (developer friendly) approach. With OnePlus you can just use fastboot to unlock your bootloader, take full control and simply fully restore to factory settings without any left behinds. A phone like the S8 trips a wire (pysically) as soon as you root it and that wire can only be "replaced" by opening up the phone which leaves even more marks that may void your warranty. My whole reason to not use iPhone was because I do not like to be limited of what I can do with my device. I do understand that many users feel just fine the way their iPhone or Samsung Phone is and do not feel limited. However I also did not yet meet a Samsung Phone user that liked provider bloatware from T-Mobile, Verizon or whatever. Quite often they wanted to badly get rid of those apps but all you can do is disable them. A phone that is developer friendly and open, will for sure get more updates (unoffical ones) to Android which allows its users to use that phone longer without beeing outdated.

Redskull I don't think greedy-ness was the reason of price hike, the thing is except the dual cameras and increased RAM there's absolutely nothing special about this phone so they wasted so much money on the marketing of Camera and DASH charge everywhere that they had to increase the price which is just Stupid since all the phones before were able to do great without marketing, they even gave 1Caror INR to a person in a contest in India which equals to 300 OP5 smartphones, which lead to all this hate, but at last this has just become an overpriced phone, same will never happen with Xiaomi!!

chinese cheap quality mobile phone maker BBK electronics made this one plus phone, BBK electronics makes VIVO and Oppo brand also. One plus , Vivo and Oppo or made in same factory of BBK electronics, which uses cheap quality materials apart from processor. Camera also not from sony, if you see any sony camera that does not give that type of bad image in night time

You are absolutely correct! Turn the magnification gestures off. The new update sets it off by default, I believe.

Yeah, they are becoming greedy! In a couple of years the OnePlus phones will cost as much as Samsung phones
Redskull I don't think greedy-ness was the reason of price hike, the thing is except the dual cameras and increased RAM there's absolutely nothing special about this phone so they wasted so much money on the marketing of Camera and DASH charge everywhere that they had to increase the price which is just Stupid since all the phones before were able to do great without marketing, they even gave 1Caror INR to a person in a contest in India which equals to 300 OP5 smartphones, which lead to all this hate, but at last this has just become an overpriced phone, same will never happen with Xiaomi!!
Redskull if that day comes, then we will sure to see OnePlus phones in the line of underrated LG, HTC and Sony devices!!

chinese cheap quality mobile phone maker BBK electronics made this one plus phone, BBK electronics makes VIVO and Oppo brand also.
One plus , Vivo and Oppo or made in same factory of BBK electronics, which uses cheap quality materials apart from processor.
Camera also not from sony, if you see any sony camera that does not give that type of bad image in night time
it is a chinese phone after all

Redskull LOL are you serious? OnePlus 5 is so much better in any aspect... USB Type C, Better fingerprint scanner, much better performance, much better software, more durable, better support... The S7 Edge only got a slightly better camera and display.
Bro it has so many issues and its way expensive than my s7 edge which costed me $400.Things like jelly scrolling bothers me very much so I'm gonna wait till next year for a newer model
VelronTech There are zero real issues. The jelly effect is extremely overhyped. Most people don't even notice it, and even those who notice it don't care for it, because it's really subtle. Trust me, OnePlus 5 will no disappoint nobody.
VelronTech VelronTech I really don't understand about the OP5 jelly scrolling issue. Of course it is an issue, but only on paper, most people including me dnt notice it. Not even the LR stereo reversal thing. I can definitely understand that these issues are all the bad press that OP got, but for no genuine problem.
My OP5 is fast af..and I m perfectly happy with it.
