I bought a mark 2 took it out and shot it, it shot great, took it home, took it apart and cleaned it, two and a half hours later I got it back together, took it and sold it.
Why?
@@Boskibro 2.5 hours to clean it, not worth my time when others take minutes.
The MK1-MK3 are notorious for incredibly tedious disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly. They are just god awful firearms to clean, but great guns all around.
I clean my mark 3 one time took forever to get it back together. Once it was all back together I threw a mag in it….it was backwards. Got stuck and I had to order a tool to get it out. That’s a serious design flaw right there
Jus t acquired a new mark lV lite, also have an Mark l which I was issued in RVN in 65, loved the gun, HATED cleaning it, lol. But have taught 3 daughters to shoot with the mark l and they all love it. The lV is a super upgrade from the 3 previous editions. Thanks for the informative video.
I got me one of these earlier this year and it's the EXACT gun you showed off in this video. I have the Mark IV Standard as well and love them both. Very easy to shoot. I opted to take the pic rail off the top. It's very lightweight and still easy to shoot. The colored barrel really let's you see how dirty 22 can be. Nice video man.
It's a good thing that Ruger finally addressed those issues.
The standard by which all other 22 plinkers are measured. Even with the reassembly issues for newcomers of the previous models, it was and is still the hands down champion. There is a legitimate reason this pistol put Ruger on the map, it is simply the best. :)
Dad had a Mark I which he gave to my son. A fantastic pistol. Particularly if your Father cleans it.
We had looked at target pistols for years, and we pulled the trigger on this gun...it is exactly how it is in this video...easy to shoot, easy to clean, and it has been reliable...we happy...
How does it fair free handed at 10 yards (1 hand )
Ive watched a couple of great reviews on this channel and by far I gotta say this pistol is the one with the least recoil ive seen up til now
I think the weapon is very well designed. The overall quality is what sets this apart from the others. It is easily disassembled and reassembled. A beginner would be able to shoot it and maintain it with confidence.
I love my MK3 22/45 lite. It is a pain to tear down for cleaning. After I had it a while it loosened up a little and I learned my way around it so it isn't near the trouble it was in the beginning. I did consider selling it but I'm glad I didn't. I have changed the sights and extractor. One of my favorites to take with me to the range.
Original grip angle was taken from a Japanese Nambu, the similarity to a Luger is coincidental.
sold, just now finding your channel thanks for all the info
Just saw this pistal at the gun show and my wife and I loved it. Wish it was larger then a 22 and we would own it now. That being said this one is in our next gun list just for having a fun gun to play with.
Own one and couldn't be happier with it.
Updated and made so much better (Especially take down-Now Amazing)in every way but the trigger. Ruger give us a decent trigger for this gun. The trigger is embarrassingly bad. Fix that trigger and it becomes a world class plinker/hunter/plate gun. Even offer 2 upgrades if necessary. 4 -4.5lb plinker/plate gun and a 2 - 2.75lb target trigger
i have a ruger mark 4 standard and a ruger sr22, plus i have shot a mark 4 22/45 lite a fair bit. if you want a reliable, handy, accurate enough, out-of-the-box-ready, jack-of-all-trades, easy 22lr pistol, get the sr22 and don’t look back. the mark 4 pistols are larger, cant be carried as comfortably and really need various aftermarket accessories to shine. ymmv, but my opinion comes after almost 25,000 rounds.
This was an excellent to the point video. Thank you for making and in one take...
I have the older Ruger 22/45 bull barrel and a genius must have came up with how you disassemble that thing with the levers and everything else and pulling the trigger to disassemble it a genius figured it out cuz of how complicated it was. But it is the most accurate 22 pistol diver shot being able to hit shotgun shells 50 yards away. But this new one you're showing a thing might have to get me one of those.
4:29 Literally sweeps his entire face.. wow
he did it at 2:34 as well lmao.
One of my most regretted sales... I LOVED my 22/45 ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Always love your videos. For me it’s been a fun challenge to take apart and reassemble.. Iv practiced and practiced till it was easy .. now that being said the mark4 has had some accuracy issues not being a complete solid lock-up, compared to the older 3 and lower series. Case in point professional shooters will contest this.. .22 plinkster on CZcams as well.also may add some quality control issues the mk4 .. FTF , FTE .. mag issues being gritty and rough edges.. hence all the aftermarket companies eager to sell you upgrades.. IT SHOULD BE RELIABLE STRAIGHT FROM THE FACTORY! All you have to do is google ruger Mk4 reliability issues., and wow it’s there! Many many of issue with failures., but hey, you can always put a couple hundred more bucks into to make it reliable.. what a shame.. Ruger is full aware of this. And hopefully will make some much needed changes..
Great video! Thanks for the information!
I use to have reliability issues with mine
I clean it a lot more now so it is better at the range
I can't wait until you get your hands on one of the new Springfield High Powers and do a review on it.
Excellent! Thank you.
Also remember to take finger off trigger when putting it back into safety
really nice 22LR pistol but why only a 10 round mag ?
Dang
Thanx
Sold !
Just bought one of these today, should be here by December 14th, merry Christmas to me!

Need more info specific to the Lite vs Tactical...Will the Lite barrel hold up as long? Which one is more accurate? Is the weight difference significant? Which one for non-carry and why?
I've never understood why so many people have such a problem with the disassembly/reassembly of the Ruger Mk I-III.
@JoozdontliketheTruth It's a simple, man made machine, not a malevolent spirit.
I suspect many are not used to needing the pistol to be positioned in certain ways to allow gravity to align the internals just right to allow it to go together. It took me a few youtube videos to see and understand how to get it back together. Also, the fit was super tight on mine. It took ages for mine to loosen up to where I didn't need a dead blow hammer to get the barrel on and off.
@@TheDustyShed Ruger did fit them awful tight which made things worse. Most brand new pistols got some kind of scars and scratches from the whole process. That alone is enough to piss a person off.
Good review bud. Only other thing I'd mention is that it has a cold hammer forged barrel.
I would never get one but the design is so awesome, I wish they made Higher caliber versions.
I have this pistol and love it.
Nice detailed well explained review!
Great information, thank you!
Awesome breakdown 👌
I wish this one was available in CA
I really wish they’d built the 22/45 tactical with an aluminum frame bc I like the grip angle of the 22/45. Went with the standard mark IV tactical instead as a result.
You can buy fully assembled aluminum frames for the 22/45
@@Agent-vj3ns Wish they didn’t come in all those goofball colors & odd tacticool holes.
Great review
Great info. Sir!
Another good video. Thanks.
I have seen several reviews that say that the trigger has a lot of take up and not a really clean break / reset. What did you find?
the little post that goes back into the upper part of the receiver is that supposed to kind of wobble around mine does I was just wondering if that's supposed to be that way I think it is
That means you're supposed to throw it in ocean (or in a trash bin in front of a high school like Hunter Biden did 💀).
Whats the difference between this and the tactical
This should be the mark 5 😊,not even close to looking like the standard mark IV 😂 right
I'm trying to save up 599. Dollars just to get a Ruger pistol from sports Academy.
Do you know if you could legally travel with this gun on an airplane to California? I owned this gun when I lived in Colorado and miss it. It's in a storage unit in my parents home. I know this gun is banned in California. But have heard if you bought this gun while living in another state where it's legal is one way to have this gun legally in California. But I'm still unsure.
Ask your leader Gavin or Nancy
think its a nice pistol but the capacity for a 22 isnt what i want for the cost
These are range guns, primarily...and they excel at that...
how can i have this gun
Ambidextrous.
