Nah 7m’s arent notorious for rodknock. They only get rodknock after the head gasket failure washes the bearings. If you were to fix the head gasket and use the corrected torque specs(oem ones are too low which caused all the HG issues), a simple rebuild, then they’re actually really stout motors

i dont understand all the hate the 7m gets either, my brother has ma70 like this with a single turbo 650whp. never had any major failiures but it does have quality forged parts etc

I have a built 7m. I love it. 7m if built right are reliable. The oil in the spark plug valley is due to the valve cover gaskets. Use to have many problems with them.

G54B 2.6L out of a starion/conquest its a 4 cyl but its a BIG 4cyl! Factory turbo/intrcld RWD... in 88' it was faster than a vette! I built one about 10 years ago that made 325 hp and 310 ft/lbs on 6 psi... car got traded for a formula convertible... the tbi sucked, but after a multiport intake from EIP Tuning, it was a badass little car!

I have a few thoughts on engine swap. 1. Something Italian, Ferrari V8 kind of works with the Bogetti Spaghetti thing.
2. Older BMW V12. That engine has 4 separate exhaust manifolds (4turbos)
3. Old 1950’s Hemi. The engine probably weighs more than the rest of the car but a set of zoomies and the fire show would be epic.
Rebuild the 7m!!!! Head gasket leaking leads to spun bearings. They are good motors, give them a chance.

7m can be made to hold 550 to 600 reliably though your auto trans will crap at around 300. They have been built to pull 900 wheel multiple passes but you are tempting to introduce internal parts to the ground...

Does it have the r154? If so ls would be very easy with FABbot adapter plate for like 4hun, 4l60e bell housing and t56 clutch and flywheel... I used a Colorado trans but it is the same as the Toyota.

Like others have said the 7mgte can be built to 1000rwhp with rods/pistons, good ARP hardware, and a proper metal head gasket. Worthwhile instead of spending the 6-7k for a japanese 1jz/2jzgte at the moment.

You could always drop a 1j in it stock or with a couple upgrades. They rev out higher than a 2j. The reliability failed the 7m because they were never designed to take boost and when they modded the design it wasnt made to take much boost stock. Head gasket issue was a failure on Toyotas engineers and gasket manufacturers. Change the factory head gasket and follow the new head torque settings and the head gasket failure stops. Head studs help.
It needs some MOPAR power. New Hemis are easy to get, but I think a little Toyota like that should get a giant 440 power plant put in there.

I'd say a 2 Rotor, maybe get some help from the Mikes at Angel's. Rob Dahm was able to push z06 numbers out of his 2 rotor, which would be plenty to make that a fun car

Early gen 1uz motor. Stock long blocks are tough has 2jz blocks. Turbo it and make a good reliable 500-600whp

So I was excited for the Induction Performance 2JZ to go in the Supra for 1 reason. The only supra's you see are 4th gen that are stupid fast I want to see a badass 3rd gen they will always be my favorite.
