- 99% of golfers will REGRET NOT TRYING these IRONS!? 99% of golfers SHOULD TRY these FORGIVING IRONS!? When buying new golf clubs golfers often go for the big brand names. New Titleist Irons, New Taylormade Irons, New Callaway irons, New Ping irons… but that doesn’t always mean they are the best irons. The best irons of 2022 May well be big name brands, but what about the best forgiving irons of 2022? In this video I test the new Tour Edge golf clubs for 2022, and u honestly think they could be some do the best longest irons of the year. Let’s do it… and let’s do it now!
Just bought a set, got fitted and they blew me away. 73 years old and during fitting hit one of the 7 irons 160 meters, average was closer to 145. Thought it was a missread then hit another 158 insane, they feel fantastic, it’s going to take some time to wipe the smile of my face. Great review
Tour Edge has always made good-quality, reasonably priced clubs. I still have the Ironwoods I bought back in the late 1990s, first hybrids I ever owned.
Just picked up the C721 set 4-PW with TT Elevate 95 VSS Stiff brand new for under $500 USD. Got fitted for C722 at the PGA Superstore and decided to get the 721. Added 20 yds to my irons, came from a forged muscle. Wanted the technology, distance and forgiveness. Great review James.
I literally just ordered the same set. Coming from a 1994 Cobra set. Hoping for the best!
Tour Edge and Wilson are the most underrated names in golf.
I have the C721 fairway woods in my bag and I love them!
I love seeing you test stuff like tour edge and other "not brand name" clubs. I rocked a set af tour edge irons for years and became a lot better player with them.....went and got fitted for a new set of taylormade irons last year and play like garbage with them lol. I'd buy a set of tour edge again!
I 100% agree I was at a demo day with the c721 & e721 and I couldn’t believe how nice that felt and preformed. I think it’s marketing that holds the name back.
Nice review James..Title is OK, and people are not buying them mainly cause not many Tour Pros play Tour Edge, maybe Langer...Irons are good and so is the Wilson Staff D 9 Forged..Would be a great video to compare these two irons...Thanks....
I've been a Tour Exotics believer well over 10yrs - mainly fairway woods. Bought the C721 irons and have never been more disappointed - 15-20 yards shorter. 4 rounds - in the closet they went. Convinced now it was 100% user error. James is going to make me give em another try.
My friend, a 83 year old former teaching pro who still owns and operates a premium practice facility, chose a set of these irons... really enjoying them 👍
My face was utter shock when I saw these in the bag. I've got the C721's and they are crazy long and forgiving. I've shaved my handicap from a 22 to a 16 with them!
Another great video James. Looking at new irons at present. Any chance you could review the new Wilson D9 forged?? As I am looking at these.
I’m thinking of moving to these as I have last years cast model and like them. Just want more feel.
Our major golf shop here in Tucson (arguably I guess) has the C722 for sale at $900 with choice of 3 shafts 5i - PW and AW. I was glad for the review since I'm going to be fit for a new set of irons in the near future, thanks.
Can definitely relate to this, I’ve just been fitted for some benross delta x irons, in the fitting I hit a few bad shots, heal and toe and it still went really well giving me confidence
You can get fitted for benross? WoW, never knew that
@@CharlotteK2008 yeah, lovely clubs as well
Great video James. I have been recently fitted for some T-200's from titlest! I suppose if people go through the fitting process! The fitters perhaps push the well known brands a bit more as they are the most expensive and everyone is duped by them. I don't know why these irons aren't more frequently mentioned! They look great.
Not entirely sure all fitters get commission on your purchase 🤷🏼♂️
I have been using TE for years and love them!! Glad to see you do this video for us….
I play Tour Edge and love them. Mixed with Mizuno woods and wedges...great combo!
I just purchased the C721 irons 5-pw . Haven't had a chance to play yet as I live in Canada. I also bought the C721 driver and the Wingman putter also the Hot Launch Super spin wedges 52 56 60. All clubs have graphite shafts and the grips I wanted. The driving range opens tomorrow so I will be hitting all of them. Can't wait.
I’m looking at irons right now. But for the price I’m having trouble beating the PXG 0211 DC at $79 per club.
PXG have come a long way in a very short time. Especially on value and pricing.
I have them. They are excellent.
I have them too. they're amazing.
0311 gen 3's are currently $119. I guarantee you will like the look, feel, sound and forgiveness of the 0311's over the 0211's. The 0311's will be in your bag for years longer than the 0211's...... and that's how you can justify spending more for them.
Hi. Another 0211 convert here. I love them and would highly recommend them.
If you want more enjoyment, better scores, easy to hit irons, I think average golfers are missing out on Cleveland Launcher XL irons or even the previous generations of HB irons. Not typical irons, all hybrid technology, they may look wonky in the bag but the work great. Some people just can’t get past their ego to try them.😊
Agreed
Absolutely. I play off between 8-10 so hardly useless or great it's just what I prefer and it makes sense 😄
I got a full set of Tour Edge clubs 7 years ago. Can't complain at all. Very forgiving clubs.
Love my Exotics woods, still have the CBX 119 3 wood and Hybrid in the bag, as a club junkie they are the oldest clubs in my bag and I would have no problem replacing them but they still out perform everything else out on the market. Great review James!
Comes down to marketing I believe. I’ve never heard of the brand, nor do I have the budget for brand new clubs, but I’d welcome a set in my bag. Currently got a set of AP2 718(or 716?) for about $300. A little inconsistent on the account of my poor hitting, as I’m new to golf (2-3 months of play, 24hcp). Hoping I can get on the course asap and get my ball strikes dialed in.
The clubs are a little pricey... i lean towards the used club market where amazing clubs are selling for under $400... AP2's are great... the new t200's would be something i'd consider as a get a little older.. so 4-6 years from now they probably will be available used for maybe the 450-$500 range..
I would have thought 99% of golfers would be trying the E722 irons as they are more forgiving and are geared for the higher handicap. I haven't seen these clubs in the stores only on line so maybe it comes down to marketing and do fitters have them in stock to test.
I would love to see you compare these to the Mizuno JPX 921 hot metal irons. Love the show and have a great day!
Just bought the Tour Edge HL4 complete set & a used C721 driver. They have been great at the range. Need the weather to change for a round of golf.
I have the tour edge exotics driver from a few years back. I had never heard of them and was getting fitted for a driver. I was hitting further than the Ping G410 and it was 50 dollars cheaper. I have heard that Tour Edge is big on the Champions Tour
I've actually seen tour edge clubs but only with the older or elderly golfers. I think if these clubs were to get into the younger golfers I believe more people would put these in the bag
Wonder if it's related to TEE sponsoring quite a number of players on the Champions Tour.
I have the C721 model and really enjoy them. But make sure you get them fitted, check the lie and strike. Mine are set at 3 degrees upright and just love them. They actually compare very favourable to my Ping 710’s.
how's the new swing going ? Re : Peter Cowen
Brilliant video James very interesting. Would love to see a video on the new cleveland launcher xl irons 🙏🏻
I love bargains and for a set of Cleveland’s are nearly half the price off a lot of sets out there just like there Huntington putters witch are amazing.
That par 3 eight iron was typical as to why I go the irons I got James.
I used to have no problems getting the ball moving but stopping it was a different matter. Taylormade PM7MC's fitted with Project X LZ shafts and Bridgestone BXS ball (the one with a bit more spin) is what I prefer.
When I hit my ball my regular playing partners used to shout "run Forest run" and then "stop Forest stop"
Used to be a real problem
Got fitted into Tour Edge last November with 1° degree stronger lofts. Stiff steel shafts too. Love them. Nice grips too. Highly recommended
I have been playing tour edge irons and hybrids for years. A lot of golf stores tend to roll their eyes when you tell them how great these irons are. For this weekend… on TGW they have EXS 220 from tour edge on sale for 399.99. The set is 5-pw,AW and in graphite shafts. A little secret.. TE has lifetime warranty on the clubs.
The 722 series are all on sale right now - just got the E722 driver for 199 and iron sets are on sale
I can’t wait till you get your hands on the the new Cobra Forge-Tec irons. Your opinion legitimately may make me buy or hold on to what I got.
I am using Tour Edge HL4 and love them. I use jumbo grips and an inch longer. Another good video and keep them coming. 🏌️♂️🇦🇺
PXG has fabulous clubs in the price range. These look nice 👍
appreciate these are your numbers James but 47 yds between 7 and PW would worry me about gapping in the “scoring irons”. Also 13 yds of run on the 7i with a standard deviation of 8yds would give me no confidence when trying to hit a par 3. Imo these are for golfers who want to impress their pals with how far they can hit a 7i compared to traditional sets and who don’t understand the loft differences just see the number on the bottom of the club. I do agree however, that they are easier to hit and will benefit some golfers out there who struggle with iron play.
A refreshing video, James. Appreciating your work for sometime now. And awesome review! 💪🏼
I just got the C721 irons, last years model, 5-AW brand new for $480. I think the c721 looks better than the c722. Insane value. If they had a callaway stamp on them, they would sell like crazy.
Tour Edge to me had been one of those "fringe" manufacturers that i THOUGHT was in the "knock-offs" only game.... but, after seeing reviews of there recent driver offering... they are definitely more then that... while i'm more a mizuno guy... I can appreciate well made offerings from other manufactuerers..
Fun fact. Tour Edge has lifetime warranty as well. Only started golfing couple years ago & friend told me about them. Didnt realize growing up their HQ is in my home town growing up outside chicago
I game the Tommy Armour 845's. They are amazing! They are not major brand name so they won't fly off the shelf! Totally fine with me, I play what works for me.
I need to upgrade my set soon. Started golf about a year ago and still using the wilson ultra starter set. Great video about these irons.
I grew up in the north of England and have lived in the US for 30 years. Obviously we see them here a bit more as they are an American brand. I have their oversize 3 wood which I've used for a long time. Did once own a set of their irons which I didn't like. I just bought a set of KING Tour irons in copper that I bought for $850, brand new off eBay. So James, which would you buy based on price I paid? I also bought the 3 iron and GW for $150 per club.
Tour edge CBX forged irons are stunning in every way and not chunky at all. Players iron though.
James would you put these in the category of Taylormade p790’s? Why I’m not into p790 or this category is due to flyer’s. One hit dead on that spot and suddenly 10-15 yards further then expected.
I got fitted for the c721's.... absolutely love them.... awesome irons and drivers
Here in Indiana tour edge you see a bit. My son plays the 220 exotic and a good friend uses the 22 exotic driver. Both were fitted in them. Why you don't see them is real simple. No pga sponsored players. A few on the senior tour. No real brand association
I got the comp lx irons probably about 20 odd years ago. Full set 3 thru PW was a little bit over $200. I loved them then and I occasionally take them out to play. They're still impressive. These are probably way better.
There's loads of UK based reviews of the Tour Edge equipment, but the fact is that you just can't try them or get custom fit in the UK. I've been trying to find their C722 Utility with no luck.
Maraging faces l believe were featured on yonex and the little known kasco. I have a 22 degree kasco hybrid with the Maraging face and it is a good 3/4 iron replacement.
I don’t have those, but I have the slightly better version, taylormade m2 irons.
It’s similar tech and nobody ever asks about my clubs as I hit lasers everywhere.
The first time I hit those clubs, I just fell in love.
Such excellent face feedback without as much punishment.
I did not buy them to be longer per se, but more accurate.
Less spin for high handicappers really means less side spin.
They don’t hit down on the ball properly, so it doesn’t generate the spin on traditional irons with high face sweet spots.
This is especially valuable int9 the regular 25 mph wind I get every round on ma.
Great video, JR!
Feel free to relocate to South Central Texas at your earliest convenience. 😉👍
great video. I got fitted for the C721 irons last year with the KBS graphite shafts and the feel is amazing. Honestly wouldn't trade them for anything else.
Have been gaming the Tour Edge hybrids for 2 years now a 21 and 24 degree and love them considering trying them the next time I get different irons.
I game a Tour Edge driver, 3 wood and 3 & 4 hybrids. They are hot. I will be trying Tour Edge irons soon. Been playing Callaway for years but maybe Tour Edge is a great idea for my game. Great review James !!!
Tour Edge has a major presence on the Champions Tour (US Senior tour). The price and lofts are comparable to the Mizuno JPX 921 hot metals. Maybe you should have your mid-handicap buddy Mark test these out, and see what he prefers,
Big Tour edge fan for years for hybrids and fairways. Once they get in the bag very hard to get them out.
I'm a Mizuno guy because they are the finest irons known to Man, but......James is right. The Tour Edge line of clubs are very, very good. And priced right, as well.
Great Irons and Woods. Tour Edge don't spend millions sponsoring guys on the main tour. This helps them keep costs to the consumer down. The do have quite the presence on the Champions Tour. Bernhard is playing Tour Edge and he's still killing it at 64. Good enough for me.
I believe James, Sub 70 irons even with upgrades are cheaper. Also probably better. You should really look into getting your hands on some. Maybe a review video and an All the gear, no ldea video as well? As always, I truly appreciate and enjoy your content. Keep up the great work, James. Cheers!
James you cannot buy the C series in the UK. I would love to try them but AG gave the rights to sell the tour Edge Exotics but don't sell the C series.
If you can tell me to try these C series irons please reply. Rather frustrating to hear how good these are buy you cannot buy them in the UK. I went to AG and they didn't even have the E series to try out.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I play the C722 3 wood which I bought from ebay.
Cheers
Rob
I’m actually considering these irons. Thanks for the great review James!
I've got c721 driver and I'll be upgrading to the c722 when they hit the shelves in Aus in 4 weeks
Just picked up a set of brand new honma TR21s from golf bidder for a great price. Very similar to these tour edges from the sound of it
I have Tour Edge Exotics XJ1 3, 5 and 7 woods they are my favorite clubs in the bag, they are old but very forgiving. Great review
Wow those are good stock shafts! Nice looking heads as well. Many U.S. senior tour players use Tour edge.
Have always loved tour edge. Everyone on sr tour uses them. They just don’t advertise as much…and that’s actually great because it keeps the price way down for us despite have the best tech u can find.
I bought the TE C721’s last year and love using them.
Agree with Ian below. Great review. Btw…how did you filter out the sound from the world quietest greens mower?
Tour Edge make great stuff. Those irons look slick, but are they worth double the Takomo 101's reviewed before? Or any of the other hollow DTC irons? Because they kind of sit in that category based on people's perceptions and are double the price.
So that'll be around £780 - similar price to TM Stealth, D9 Forged, G425, Callaway Apex Iron sets. Not cheaper than the competition then, and more difficult to get a hold of (American Golf only in the UK?).
I've heard nothing but good things about Tour Edge Exotics tbh, but personally i'd never consider them because they're AG only. I'd even rather go Takomo/Caley than get anything from AG!! lol
How did you like the ventus shafts in the irons?
They need to sort UK distribution if they are going to break this market. Delivery taxes etc adds another 350 dollars making them no cheaper than other premium brands.
I’ve got the 5 hybrid. Best club in the bag
Just scored a set (4-PW) with steel shafts for $487 (USD) total ... including shipping.
Well done James look good with the ventus shafts in them 👏 👍
Langer uses last year's model. I've been investigating is this model better?
I like them. Not used them but they look great. I've just bought off eBay some lynx prowler VT irons in gun metal with some of the same tech. Paid £201 for them.
£1000 my budget was £100 ! Golf is expensive for someone on low income but at 39 I’m getting into playing golf so maybe one day I will find a second hand set ha ha like the vids tho I’m learning loads just subscribed too
Not sure many UK shops Stock them perhaps why they are not brought more often ?
The driver came second in let’s play through video… so definitely making good products.
How would you (beyond simply looks) compare them to your recently fitting and received 223 irons?
I hit the tour edge MB’s recently
Very tempted to put them in the bag
Popular in Oz - seen a number of golfers use them.
Love the video James. Never heard of tour edge but look very good.
I like Tour Edge. Solid products especially fairway woods.
Iv got last seasons 3 wood and hybrid .. lovely clubs …
I think only American golf sell them in the uk ? And only online …
Massive in the USA apparently
Lifetime warranty. Made in America.
You can't beat that deal.
Thank you for the review.
Another awesome club review James and they do look pretty good
These c722's may be the best iron I've ever. They remind me of the old school muscle back irons from back in the day.
Most Golf Stores in Canada don't seem to carry them. Perhaps the profit margins from the Known Brands is large hence don't want you to have the less expensive clubs.
You are right about the stores in Canada not carrying them, and I don't understand why. I use a 5 year old driver, 3 wood and hybrid and love them. Think it comes down to marketing and the fact them don't cost as much as TM, Callaway.
.....stated the obvious. The TE's have been great. So James, you are exactly right, most golfers would benefit from TE's. Well said.
Aren't tour edge something to do with American golf in the uk? Not sure specifically but I think benross did something similar a few years back where they only sell their clubs through AG.
Hi James Very interesting irons. I was wondering if you have tried any of the woods. I'm in the market for a 3 wood and/or a 5 wood and the price on their website looks pretty inviting.
Those Ventus shafts make those look sharp.
That's a fine looking gap wedge. Nice set of irons for me and many others to play better, perhaps.
Hi are you getting the new cobra forge tec x irons on your channel
Or you could let Chris...Great banter between you two 🤣
As I had ask before have you tried the Wilson 1200 GE irons
It’s the obvious take for most hadicapp players but nothing hits like smaller cavity back blades and the ball on most courses stops on a dime because of the spin you can put on them. But small percentage of players can hit blades so
Anyone over 35 who plays a couple times a month should be playing irons like these. Great vid
