    Yesterday they removed my Holter but it had seven electrodes. Funny thing is whenever they put Holter on me my heart starts behaving like a good child and nothing significant is recorded but when it is not there i have severe palpitations.

    Just leaving a comment for anyone in the US (from my experience)
    My holter monitor was a lot bigger, yours is so tiny Amy! And instead of clipping to my pants, it was sort of in a satchel that went across my chest. Also I didn’t have to press record whenever I experienced symptoms, the monitor constantly recorded and I just wrote down my symptoms as they happened so the doctor could match them up with the recording. Thank you for making this video Amy, it’s super helpful. Sending you love and spoons!!

    • @amyleefisher52
      @amyleefisher52  Před 6 lety +1

      Colleen Elizabeth yeah usually the monitors that I’ve had in the past have been satchels and my monitor does record continuously, just pressing the button just flags up the moment your having symptoms, just so it’s easier for the doctors to match up the information x

    • @sapphicalix
      @sapphicalix Před 6 lety

      Amy Lee Fisher I was wondering if that was how yours worked, it’s a good idea to have the extra record button. I’m happy you’re getting in with your new team of Doctors and I hope cardiology and gastro and everyone can ease your symptoms soon!! 💜🥄

    omg this brought back the holter monitor experiences! Literally my skin under the electrode welted up and left scars and I was horrified lol. I’d say always ask if they have electrodes for sensitive skin or with different glue/adhesive on. Save the skin! Xx

      Cameo Gonzales not everywhere has alternatives but it’s always worth the ask, especially if you’re having the monitor on for longer than a few weeks. Also when you remove the monitor each day, try and air it out, use a small bit of body lotion(medical grade if you have it) just to keep it hydrated and I even moved the electrode placement slightly each day to give my skin a break xx

Mine was the size of a walkman and I had to call it in every night and hold it up to the phone while it played a squeaky modem version of my episodes for the day. Although it looks like leads haven't improved much. I looked like I lost a battle with an octopus for a month because I got gross raw dermatitis on/around all of them. Hope you get it sorted! If you have a hand held shower you can pretty easily take a decent shower with one of these things. I first put on a bra and make sure all the leads and the monitor are tucked up inside. Then I had my husband wrap plastic wrap around me from my armpits to my waist. Over that I put a tank top. Turn on the shower and make sure the nozzle is hanging so you don't get sprayed. Then I just wet myself a bit and got my body wash puff all sudsy, I was able to wash from the waist down and my arms, I also took my face wash and was able to wash my face/neck/ears. After I rinsed and dried off I cut the plastic wrap off and took a warm wet washcloth and cleaned under my arms and breasts, around the electrodes, and husband cleaned my back, then I dried well and put on my usual lotion, deodorant etc. It helps a lot to have someone to help you, but it could be done by one's self. It helps you carry on a bit more normally to feel nice and clean.

    I just got my halter monitor today and this has made me understand a lot more about it. My doctor didn’t tell me much about it. I’m worried that the monitor isn’t going to catch anything because I get really fast heart rate out of nowhere sometimes and I get chest pains and uncomfortableness in my chest too I also get heart palpitations a lot as well and because it happens so randomly there’s just some days where it barely happens or some days where I get it bad. My gp thinks it could be arrhythmia, but she suggested to get this halter monitor just to see just in case. So thank you for this video :)

    I need to get one soon, I am female 14 and 2 days ago had excruciating chest pain and heart attack symptoms. Took a trip to the er and we are checking my heart using one of these. Though, we are looking into pericarditis.

    Amy, check out a Zio patch. You won't have to worry about wires and can shower anytime.

    I’m just curious if there are different heart monitors for different conditions? I know sometimes there are ones with a different number of leed sticky pads. But I’ve seen some with bigger machines that hookup to the leeds. I’m supposed to get a holster monitor for my heart palpitations.

    Currently wearing one for a month with Lifewatch (24/7 monitoring by a tech). The hypoallergenic electrodes don't stay on me for anything, I went through the entire month's supply in 4 days! I have a big chunky receiver instead of a little box and then I also have to keep a big cell phone within 10 feet of me always which sends the data out in real time.. it wakes me up all night with different alarms which are randomly faulty. Uuuuuugh. It's gonna be a rough month. I feel like I have a newborn I didn't ask for 😐😂

    • @tranchedevie
      @tranchedevie Před 6 lety +1

      I just started wearing the Lifewatch with hypoallergenic electrodes and am hating it! I first tried the one large patch but my skin started reacting to it within the first day, itching and feeling like a prickly heat rash. They sent the one with the wires but found out it's just a very light coating of the same adhesive the big patch used. It's still a little itchy and the phone keeps beeping at me to check my electrodes if I move much at all. I asked about taping them down and it that would interfere with the reading. They said they couldn't make any kind of recommendation - it would be up to me, even when I said I just wanted to know if it would interfere with the signal. Glad to see this video showing tape a nurse used to keep the electrodes on.

    • @cabosefromblutem3796
      @cabosefromblutem3796 Před 6 lety

      tranchedevie I used tape on mine and it was fine. Do what you have to do! The constant alarm gets EXTREMELY annoying and if you have to tape or wrap it down, just do it. You can't possibly get accurate readings if every time you move it's beeping anyways so I think tape has to be better than nothing right? Also, interestingly enough I reacted to the hypoallergenic ones more than the normal ones! The hypoallergenic ones wouldn't stay on (I had the same beeping problem) so I got the normal ones and they stuck so well I cried taking them off 😂 was glad to have the constant beeping stop though. Both the hypo and normal ones left scars where they were. Seemed unavoidable to me.

    • @tranchedevie
      @tranchedevie Před 6 lety +1

      Good to know about the normal one not causing as much of a reaction! They sent pouches of the regular ones, too, so next time one comes Loose I'll try out a regular one. It's been the same 2 that keep coming loose. Thanks!
