    Thank you. I had to watch 9 other videos that were not even close. Yours is top notch. My mower finally fixed. Rear end was locked so badly my brother could even get rotation even after chaining and dragging 40mph tires screaming. If I wasn't steering it woulda surely flipped. "Bastard" went FASTER. Many takeaways there.

    Nice work on those brakes Jeff I didn't know that some of the hydrostatic had a brake pad caliber like that now I do for future reference 👍

    That exactly why I purchased an Ultrasonic cleaner for. It's a pain to sit there and spend time trying to clean small parts when it's easier to throw them in the Ultrasonic cleaner and let it do the job while I go have a cup of coffee or work on something else. I picked up a rear engine Ariens riding mower for $35 and that was the only thing wrong with it. The owner thought the transmission failed. We had to pick it up in the rear to load it because the rear wheels were locked up. It was just the brake locked up. The thing was like new otherwize. I used it for 2 years, then sold it.

    you can chuck those pins in a drill , hold a file or sandpaper to them , and easily clean one end at a time . if pads are almost worn out , you can make shims from pieces of hacksaw blades to get more life from them .

      Very true but hauling a heavy jack/jack stand outback into the junkyard and hopefully the tire comes off easily... sometimes the extra step is the best step but that sounds like more work to me! LOL!

    Where is your rod that sticks out of the back end to release the tranny , beginning of the video it's not there. You have to pull mine out ( the rod ) to push it by hand . Plus if you took off the right rear tire the parts are easier to get at, but thanks for the video, didnt even know a brake pad was back there. Thanks!

    If you remove the back cover, can you make this repair without removing the mower deck?

    • @JeffsLittleEngineService
      @JeffsLittleEngineService  Před 2 měsíci +1

      yes, but removing the wheel gives you the most room usually.

    Hey i'm a 70 year old gentleman trying to figure out whats going on with my daughter's mower. Please help!
    She has a craftsman 944.602600, 24 inch. When she puts it in drive it'll drive for a bit, then it'll start going backward all of a sudden while the lever is physically still in drive. And sometimes it doesn't even move when you put it in gear.
    Do you know what the issue is? Much appreciated!

  • @lonnielawson4557
    @lonnielawson4557 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Why not take a couple of minutes and move the back plate and the wheel and you have an easy job...
    this took you a lot longer than it should have. Very reassembly.............

    • @JeffsLittleEngineService
      @JeffsLittleEngineService  Před 4 měsíci

      Good tips! Can be an easier job that way for sure, if you can get the wheel off. Rear wheels are often rusted on and difficult to remove so I guess I have learned that it takes more time to jack it up to see if I can remove the wheel than to just go around it.

    • @JeffsLittleEngineService
      @JeffsLittleEngineService  Před rokem

      Most likely it is the compression release mechanism on the cam. It will need a new cam.

      @Rein_Ciarfella Před rokem

      I know this is probably after you’ve already replaced the cam. I just learned this trick recently while trying to crank with a weak battery. Decrease the valve lash on the intake by .001, say from .004 to .003, and the engine will be much easier to turn over. The only caveat I read about was less power for things like going uphill, although I haven’t had a chance to test that out yet. Only the intake adjustment, mind you, not the exhaust.
