  • This morning I fished the surf for pompano and whiting in Gulf Shores. The weather was not perfect but I still had a great time out on the beach. Lets just say there may have been some heartache during this trip. Watch the video to see what I mean.

Couple of pointers from a guy who grew up fishing Gulf Shores beaches. Larger pomps will be just on the other side of the sandbar. The cut is def a good spot. Last but not least, your fish quality will greatly improve if you use fresh shrimp. Once it's frozen it's good for catfish lol. I always used a segment of fresh shrimp and used fish bait/gum as a topper to keep the shrimp on in the surf. Good luck on your next trip!!

Welcome “all in”. Be heat stress aware these days…
The water temp is > “90 degrees F” here and practically everywhere. Not good…
    Best

How do you know if fishing is or isnt allowed on certain beaches

Most of the time there will be signs if it’s not allowed. Most beaches allow fishing because the beaches are public and not privet. I normally just tried to find a semi remote beach so I don’t have to deal with a ton of people. Or get out early and fish (which is normally the best fishing) and be done when the beach fills with people later in the morning. That’s what I do a lot when fishing right in front of my house or condo. Hope that helps.
