Miami physically dominated Florida in the trenches. That was the difference in this game. Dorsey played arguably the worst game of his career on this day. He was very inaccurate for most of the game. Miami’s defense bent but didn’t break early. They eventually took over the game and dominated the Gators. Miami should’ve won three (3) straight National Championships in this era. They were robbed in 2000 by the BCS computer. They would’ve smoked Oklahoma! They won it in 2001 with arguably the greatest college football team of all time. They were robbed again in 2002 by a terrible pass interference call in overtime in the game against Ohio State.

In Steve Spurrier's 12 years at Florida, he only lost 5 home games by a combined 25 points

When Urban Meyer took over the Gators; this is crazy but; they never rushed for as many yards as Meyers Buckeyes do regularly; at least in any close games Id want to watch. Theyre dissapointments. I don't know why; maybe Ohios O lines are much better? Hyde and Zeke are better RBs? I can't name anybody besides Harvin that Tebow handed off to. And Tebows a slow powerback. Maybe thats it; Braxton Miller and JT are fast running QBs racking up the yardage.

It’s because they had different offenses and different offensive strengths. Meyers’ Gator O focused mostly on Percy Hardin who was basically a wide receiver version of Reggie Bush. Those Ohio State teams had Zeke Elliot.
Also without Harvin and the Pouncey twins those Florida teams struggled to run it consistently probably because their running backs were scat backs. Thus, I think Meyer adapted his offense.
