- This Fly Catches All the Redfish!
This is one of my most effective redfish fly patterns. I call it the AD KRAB, that's krab with a "K" because it's not really a crab. Not really sure what the redfish think it is but they will eat it when they won't eat anything else. As usual it is a super easy to tie guide fly that catches fish.

Super easy to tie and catches fish! Let me know what you think.
What vice are you using
@@masterangler4177 it's a 20 year old Abel.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing thank you very much. I'm new to tying. There's so many choices for vices. I want quality but also practical and functional. Any suggestions?
Guess I am a new comment. Only tying for a month. You make tying look easy. Thanks, Old Chief
Probably now one of my favorite fly tying youtuber. Such a nice vibe and cool
Thanks Clint!
Another great video Alvin. You da man! Keep them coming. Thanks.
Thanks! Will do!
Tied a few of these up to try um out with some carp. I'm happy to say they seemed to love it!!! Thank you, I love you're down and dirty guide flies!!
Love the videos. You have made tying so much fun and easy. I love making them because of you making it so easy.
Thanks so much 😊
That was a great fast fly that I plan to tie real soon. I just found a couple of fly fishing clubs in the Gulf Coast area and I am looking forward to using that fly. Thanks so very much for the tip.
Your the happy-go-lucky and smiple fly tying machine, thanks for sharing your talents
My pleasure!
Awesome! Definitely gonna try this for sunnies and bass!
Let me know how it works for you.
Nice! I’m really loving these guide flies. I tied up a fleet of Dedeaux poppers and now I’m gonna have to tie up some of these guys too. Can’t wait to test these out on some bass and carp! Keep up the good work.
Let me know how they work for you. Curious about the carp.
Love the idea! I've never seen a clouser type pattern with spun hackle before. Neat idea.
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you! I was near the Guadalupe River yesterday in Gruene and I was hoping to see you cruise by.....despite the snow. 🥶❄️
Ha ha, we thought about getting out.
Thanks for sharing! The hackle does give nice body to the fly.
Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed this, great job!
Good luck with it!
Great video Alvin. For redfish I’ve always thought it’s not the fly it’s the fly fisherman. The best flies are easiest to tie and easy to cast. You do an awesome job with your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed my first time to view. I will be looking for more redfish flies. Thanks for sharing,
Thanks for watching.
Awesome little quick and easy bug, I love the whole idea of tying flies that require very few materials, and take only a few minutes to tye up. The best part of that is when you can catch fish with them. Great job Alvin!!!!.
Glad you like it👍
This is awesome. I’m hoping to buy a vice soon. This will be the first one I tie!!
Love your channel super easy to follow and the camera work is perfect. I’m not a guy but a gal who loves to fish. 👍✌️
Awesome! Thank you!
Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Happy new year bud ! I wish you all the best in 2021!
Same to you!
i caught a guad bass and a green sunfish on one of these in the blanco river recently. Great little fly. I used a reddish brown marabou for the "wing" and it was a good little crawfish imitation.
Very cool!
Tried about 3 other flies Friday; refusals. Tied on olive one of these ; BAM! Eat. Caught redfish and drum on it all weekend. Great pattern!
Awesome!
Love the down and dirty guide flies. I bet this will catch all the carp on the mud flats of the Snake River here in Idaho, too. Subbed.
Let me know how it works.
Thanks!
Thank you!
I am going to tie a bunch of these and try them for fresh water bonefish - carp!!!!! Thanks again Alvin. Love your channel
Let me know if they work.
Will do. Struck out today. My honey hole didn't have any honey!!!!
I made 5 of these yesterday after watching this video. Easy to make. Thanks for sharing. Now I just need to use them to catch my first redfish on the fly!
Good luck.
Thanks man!!!
No problem!
Diggin it! Would be super easy to throw a 4-8 strand rubber leg tail in too for even more movement
For sure.
i think carp would like this! thanks alvin.
I hope so!
Love it a it man!
Thanks!
If you did one all red, it’d look like Monster from the Muppets 😂 nice fly, Alvin! 🤘
Looks fishy to me! Obviously big Bulls probably think it's pretty not ugly Alvin! 😆
Nice 👍🏾 one
Dirty! Love it!
So do the redfish.
I've been changing my flytying philosophy and following yours. I'm done with "designer flies" that use 10 materials and every hair has to be perfectly aligned. I need flies to catch fish, not impress anybody.
Great tie!
I agree, fish don't really care. As long as it looks like food.
Thanks Alvin, love what you're doing with the channel and looking forward to another videos in the future
Simple and easy! Love it.
Glad you like it!
Th way flies should be, simple and looking to be very effective. As a UK salt water fly fisher, I am planning to tie some of these in a variety of colours for pollack and bass. Thanks.
Good luck and let me know how they work.
Hi Alvin. Ever think about writing a book with showing how to tie your guide flies? I’m sure you don’t have time but it would be a great publication! If one ever comes out I’m going to buy it! Anyway I love your vids and please keep showing us your guide-flies. Thank you!
Maybe one day
Awesome good!
Thanks!
I love your fly tying philosophy of easy to tie and crazy effective on fish.
Glad you enjoy it!
Lol that one reminds me of Oscar from sesame Street, you know the one who lived in the trash can. Maybe an idea for a name in there. Thank you Alvin for your time, inspiration and knowledge.
Might need to start calling it the grouch,
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing heck yeah, I like it.
That's brilliant. I've got materials on hand to tie that bad boy.
Very cool I tied two in ten minutes! Let you know if I catch any bass on them. I’m sure they’ll be my next go-to for reds this spring.
Awesome!
👍🏻
Alvin, thanks for this pattern. Over the last two days on the Middle TX coast we used this fly and never changed it once…redfish, trout, and black drum all ate it. Thanks for all the videos!
Thanks for watching and thanks for giving it a try!
Looks like a winner! What are your thoughts on using a 6wt rod on these tasty reds here in Rockport? Will I be outgunned? Cheers!
Should work as long as it's not too windy.
Love the videos, just wondering what vice you’re using?
It's an old Abel vise.
Great Video!!! What is the best way to store flies with a weedguard without bending it to uselessness?
I keep them in big Plano boxes. Not the neatest option, but it works.
Hi Alvin, love your flies. I plan to tie several of them this spring. But why the two sets of eyes on this one.
Just makes it sink a little faster.
Thanks for the tutorial. Looking forward to tying my own flys. Soaking up as much information as I can as I am new to fly fishing.
Glad to help
Do these down and dirty guide flies work if not infused with the signature chuckle ? 😊
I'm sure it helps! 😂
How does it do with sheephead? And can you tell us about color choices?
I have had one sheepshead eat it. Haven't thrown it at too many though. Got to give it another chance.
Hi all; Alvin, thanks for the Krab guide fly. Lots of sheephead near where I live. Think I'll try that in a #6.. Thanks for posting and sharing!!
What vice is he using
It's an old Abel vise.
where do fish your pattern? region?
Mostly the middle Texas coast.
Sexy looking fly sir… I am going to tie some up and put them to good use
Good luck!
Thank you brother, I appreciate you and your videos
Thanks for watching.
What type of material did you make your wing from?
I think it is wool, not sure though. Old material with no label.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing thanx man.. I rolled with polar fiber
@@andrewhairston6498 Good choice!
How much does a guided trip cost for catching redfish
www.alvindedeaux.com/about
Thank you looks really fun. I'll be looking into it.
Looks more like a crawfish than crab. I bet Bass would eat it.
Yeah it looks like a lot of different things fish like to eat. 😂
Recipe would be nice.
Everything is in the video.
Is this a prank video???
???
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing I guess my initial reaction was that this is a youtube prank, to see how many people will try to tie and fish this crazy fly that has 2 sets of bead chain. Seeing some of your other videos, I can now assume this video is not a prank. So now a couple of questions. Does this fly have a tendency to ride hook-down? And would you recommend adding a few rubber legs/feelers to this tie? Im going to tie this one up, gonna chase redfish over shell this weekend.
Going to make it a little fancy...i will put a little head cement on the head!!😂😂 love this guy!
😂
what vise you running there mate?
It's an old Abel vise.
