    6:51 ofc they can, bcs according to the lore, they are as big as mountains and were a frightening force for the night elf armies on the battlefield. I like how lore still plays a role in wc3 (as it should in my opinion) even tho wc3 is also competitive.

    as we can see attack range calculate from edge of model + in unit stast some units and herous have hidden modeficator ( maybe is "move buffer" or some of this stats who even most skilled map-makers don't touch)

    I think one of the most interesting things about this video is that melee units with enough range can attack up cliffs.
    Something you’d probably never encounter in normal gameplay, but still neat

    FunnyWC3 knows more about the game's mechanics than the developers

      Very true especially against the Reforge devs where they get a lot of tiny details wrong

      To be fair, warcraft 3 was a game released from 2002. At this point, the original devs of the game are nowehere to be seen. Nobody would barely know how the mechanics work.

    Had no idea about models (Probably the collision radius) affecting range, as for the up cliffs bit, WC3's terrain and all navigational physics are technically 2d, as it's just, can I path here?: Yes, No, Only if you are a boat, only if you are a flyer. Basically, there is gap between the unit, and the tower, big enough on the terrain grid across that most things can't hit it, but a big boi can. You could raise the terrain height to the sun, but the distance horizontally is the only calculation taken into account.
    WC3 technically does not have up and down, at least from an AI and physics perspective, even fog of war up and down cliffs is just a facsimile of not being able see on top of a tall thing but it's just value check of is height level greater than where unit is standing? yes. Are they a flyer? No, then they cannot see past this edge.

    Can we get to see how effective are upgrades? Like what's better on paper attack or armor on certain units. Like max knights with armor on 3 level and defense aura vs unit with attack without update and then progressing to 1, 2 and 3.

    It depends on size right?

    • @user-ky7lx5mt5l
      @user-ky7lx5mt5l Před 29 dny +2

      It's some weird stuff. It depends on physical size and clipping while moving. If bears don't move actively, they cannot attack towers on cliffs. If they move, however, they seem to "clip" through the cliff, managing to reach the towers. Smaller bears, however, don't clip enough.

      attack range calculate not from centre but from edge of the model
