You need to be in perfect position al lthe time, because you have not buildings for wallsand you need 3 bases sooner than the others. Serral has no equal in this game. He is far beyond the mortals that play the game. This was such a dominating performance (once again) that makes everyone still arguing about the GOAT title look like kids crying about their favorite food. edit: Watching game 2 again makes perfectly clear how stupidly broken turtle Terran is. At around 24-28 minutes, Serral was floating x12-14 more resources (Maru had almost no bank) with a maxed army, with Maru only mining from the Gold, and Serral still could not finish him. Not only that, but Maru managed to completely drain Serral's bank because of the stupid efficiency Terran has vs Zerg. He was getting pounded the entire game, he did NOTHING to hurt Serral at any point in the game, and almost got it at the end while playing worse the whole time. Zerg-favored map my @ss, give a Terran free 4 bases, and they never die.

Maru refused to a) build walls with depots b) build planetary fortresses against ling runbies c) use a single lib to protect his mineral line against runbys d) use Ravens, despite getting fungeled again and again. -> Maru didn't use a lot of terrans arsenal. While Serral used everything. He constantly had infestors all over the map (and you can't hotkey those, there were too many!). He used Viper. He borrowed lings. He used overlords to transport a queen to spread creep in the lategame. So one player did everything spot on, the other couldn't bother to use his arsenal. And yet, Maru almost won this game. Terann lategame is too strong, if you can nearly win when making many mistakes and ignoring half your options, that is the definition of "imbalanced".

These two matchups are - by far - the matchup, where it is most difficult do defend against all ins and stuff like that and where a weaker player has by far the best chances to win matches against opponents that are better. They have the most randomness in them. TvT for comparision makes it way easier for the superior player to play safe, without falling too far behind -> the better player plays it safe, is maybe a little bit behind, but he is good enough to not care and still win. In ZvZ this is not possible. Harstem and other Progamers talk relatively frequently about this.

Fungal is f*ing broke - I am seriously amazed that this spell hasn't been nerfed! There is NO OTHER spell even remotely as powerful as Fungal - but the Pro Community just doesn't see it even though all they'd have to do is check the stats of Fungal vs. other spells and also consider how Fungal is used. It's just f*ing obvious in my opinion!
The slowing down of units in this matter vs Zerg is just insane that this is still in the game. But Harstem only sees Maru not seeing burrowed units (they are not that easy to spot) and pretends that Fungal hitting isn't the case 90% of times Fungal gets cast.
Fungal is a very micro intensive ability that also requires good map knowledge, knowing what your opponent does and predicting their movements and strategy. It looks so OP here because Serral has a million APM and controls like 8 different infestors all over the map while microing his main army perfectly, while also sending constant runbyes and being on top of his macro. You could also argue that EMP is too OP for the same reason, but is it really? Fungal has a pretty easy counter and that's detection. A raven or two would've helped Maru quite a lot on Hard Lead, but I think Serral was already prepared for that with all the corruptors he had.
@@philip2363 chill, mate 1) have you ever seen tvz games during 2012 broodlord infestor era? this was the time when infestor was actually broken and not today'; you could actually feel the desperation terran had when performing pre-broodlord timing push, and despair when the push failed 2) "check the stats of Fungal vs. other spells" meanwhile ghost EMP instantly cuts Protoss army HP in half and basically countering everything Protoss has (e.g. batteries can be EMP'd too) and snipe countering everything of value Zerg had 3) pro players are absolutely capable of spotting observers and DTs on the move, moreover, Maru was making an intelligent decision of scanning around him when noticed being jumped on and multiple times successfully caught Serral's lurking infestors 4) widow mines can obliterate the entire mineral line, one hit can blast 10-15-20 zerglings and banelings which is easily 1000+ resources, and every terran would say "sure why not, that's why we need them: to be 10x cost-effective. And build them from the reactor too!"

And yes, my opinion is that the game is basically balanced but zerg is slightly better than T and P. When played perfectly (which Serral comes the closest to), Zerg has the best tools. But obviously no one else plays it nearly as perfect as he does. If Serral were a P main or a T main I don't believe he'd be as dominant because of that
Honestly, Serral doesn't just make zerg look op he proves it. The expert scouting makes it impossible to catch him off guard ever. He's solved the game. We need another balance patch to keep up with this guy. The new cyclone is anti fun anyway, and I think a pneumatized carapace nerf wouldn't be a bad idea considering it doesn't even feel like a strategy game and more like a single skill check that Serral always passes.

Calling Marus strategic decisions mistakes when he's blind and has no way to scout, while serral gets perfect information is wild. For tournament play consistency will always be the most important thing. Zergs ability to scout literally everything always is the reason zerg has won the most tournaments. Take protoss for example, they have barely any map vision always. Everyone knows that if a protoss plays perfect they would win every time, but in a game with incomplete information they always get sniped by some nonsense like cures proxy marauders. It's not that serral made less mistakes it's that serral had complete information because zerg map vision is fucking ridiculous. Zerg simply have the ability to respond perfectly to everything every time, while other races do not. Balance is supposed to give every race equal winning opportunity, zerg clearly have the most winning chances in every game, but that wasn't the point. Tournaments with serral are zero fun to watch. Not because he always wins, but because nobody ever has a chance against him, because he scouts perfect. Meanwhile everyone else just has to guess.

Its about how much the mistakes cost. Maru does no/minor mistake early game and gets rolled by 20 roached. Serral a moves in 40banes and just easy clap remaxes. I think it was clear zerg op.

How imbalanced do you want Terran to be, that Terran can get away with extreme greed, no scout, throwing units away and STILL WIN?

Just like the game was balanced around Maru in 2018 when he was the only terran to abuse ravens lategame or Byun who was the only terran to abuse reapers. Terran players are just better? Get nerfed. Well I guess the fact that Zerg had the most amount of prize money throughout SC2, had longest cancer metas (Broodlord/Festor in WoL, Swarmhosts in HoTS, Viper/Spores in 18-20) and current Balance Council being totally not biased towards zerg has nothing to deal with it. Zerg players are just better, I guess...

Fungal is f*ing broke - I am seriously amazed that this spell hasn't been nerfed! There is NO OTHER spell even remotely as powerful as Fungal - but the Pro Community just doesn't see it even though all they'd have to do is check the stats of Fungal vs. other spells and also consider how Fungal is used. It's just f*ing obvious in my opinion!
The slowing down of units in this matter vs Zerg is just insane that this is still in the game. But Harstem only sees Maru not seeing burrowed units (they are not that easy to spot) and pretends that Fungal hitting isn't the case 90% of times Fungal gets cast.
Fungal already got nerfed before, it used to be an instant cast instead of a projectile.
Fungal is a very micro intensive ability that also requires good map knowledge, knowing what your opponent does and predicting their movements and strategy. It looks so OP here because Serral has a million APM and controls like 8 different infestors all over the map while microing his main army perfectly, while also sending constant runbyes and being on top of his macro.
You could also argue that EMP is too OP for the same reason, but is it really?
Fungal has a pretty easy counter and that's detection. A raven or two would've helped Maru quite a lot on Hard Lead, but I think Serral was already prepared for that with all the corruptors he had.

1) have you ever seen tvz games during 2012 broodlord infestor era? this was the time when infestor was actually broken and not today'; you could actually feel the desperation terran had when performing pre-broodlord timing push, and despair when the push failed
2) "check the stats of Fungal vs. other spells" meanwhile ghost EMP instantly cuts Protoss army HP in half and basically countering everything Protoss has (e.g. batteries can be EMP'd too) and snipe countering everything of value Zerg had
3) pro players are absolutely capable of spotting observers and DTs on the move, moreover, Maru was making an intelligent decision of scanning around him when noticed being jumped on and multiple times successfully caught Serral's lurking infestors
4) widow mines can obliterate the entire mineral line, one hit can blast 10-15-20 zerglings and banelings which is easily 1000+ resources, and every terran would say "sure why not, that's why we need them: to be 10x cost-effective. And build them from the reactor too!"

And yes, my opinion is that the game is basically balanced but zerg is slightly better than T and P. When played perfectly (which Serral comes the closest to), Zerg has the best tools. But obviously no one else plays it nearly as perfect as he does.
If Serral were a P main or a T main I don't believe he'd be as dominant because of that
5 Terrans, 3 Zergs and 0 Protoss in round of 8. What a dead game. It's not fun to watch anymore.
Honestly, Serral doesn't just make zerg look op he proves it. The expert scouting makes it impossible to catch him off guard ever. He's solved the game. We need another balance patch to keep up with this guy. The new cyclone is anti fun anyway, and I think a pneumatized carapace nerf wouldn't be a bad idea considering it doesn't even feel like a strategy game and more like a single skill check that Serral always passes.

@@wedgeantilles8575 The problem with zerg is the scouting. They always know whats up and can react accordingly. Calling Marus strategic decisions mistakes when he's blind and has no way to scout, while serral gets perfect information is wild. For tournament play consistency will always be the most important thing. Zergs ability to scout literally everything always is the reason zerg has won the most tournaments. Take protoss for example, they have barely any map vision always. Everyone knows that if a protoss plays perfect they would win every time, but in a game with incomplete information they always get sniped by some nonsense like cures proxy marauders. It's not that serral made less mistakes it's that serral had complete information because zerg map vision is fucking ridiculous. Zerg simply have the ability to respond perfectly to everything every time, while other races do not. Balance is supposed to give every race equal winning opportunity, zerg clearly have the most winning chances in every game, but that wasn't the point. Tournaments with serral are zero fun to watch. Not because he always wins, but because nobody ever has a chance against him, because he scouts perfect. Meanwhile everyone else just has to guess.

Its about how much the mistakes cost. Maru does no/minor mistake early game and gets rolled by 20 roached. Serral a moves in 40banes and just easy clap remaxes. I think it was clear zerg op.

The answer is easy:
Maru played GREEDY and didn’t scout properly. That is a huge gamble he took. His 3 CC opening is extremely strong if the opponent does not attack. But this heavy focus on economy is bad, if the enemy attacks.
He basically went all in on “Serral won’t attack”.
Of course he is in a bad spot if he takes such a gamble and Serral DOES attack.
Oh, and in game one he threw away his Banshee after the attack, then he threw away his hellions 30 seconds later.
How imbalanced do you want Terran to be, that Terran can get away with extreme greed, no scout, throwing units away and STILL WIN?

i hate the game mechanic design team off sc2 so much, they did such a horrid job upgrading the gameplay from sc1 to sc2, like minimum to zero effort used...
6:01 so success push, takes down 13 workerrs and demolish the army so no push comming; at 6min, up army, almost double workers, up bases, etc... its so ridiculess how this would be instantly gameover for P and Z but T can just continue like nothing went wrong -.-
6:24 when you are infront in army, same tech, and up 45 workers, 1 base, bigger army and there is no chance for a push bc you crushed the army, all Before the 7min mark, the game should seriously be over; the fact it isn't when playing T shows how absolutely ridiculessly overpowered T is... like under 40 workers against over 70 down on everything includingg bases before the 7min mark, htf can anyone argue there should be comback potential? but only for Terran -.-
T didnt scout for like 10min+, knowing nothing and continually throwing units away for nothing and its still a game, after all that -.-
