      It was nice to see a tutorial with realistic cpu usage. Other the tutorials be like "use 7 serums with 10 major 7th cords, run it through omnisphere with an added 327 reverbs, 6 delays and a glue compressor " and the cpu usage is at like 2% lol

    Hey man, thanks for the video, the pads sound great! I'm a mixer, in regards to you EQ questions, EQ shifts phase, and affects frequencies not only in your eq moves, but around them as well. the reason you hear a boost in the high mids is because HP and LP filters have a resonance peak at the cut-off point, anything slightly before your LP frequency will have a little bit of a boost. You can actually use this to your advantage when mixing bass, a HP cut off around 20/30/40 Hz will give a little bump a hair above the cut off and actually make it sound tighter and give it a little heft. Lots of info about this online if you wanna learn more. Also, you can do all those EQ moves on one EQ if you'd like, that's why it has multiple bands, should sound exactly the same unless the plugins were different

    • @zilus3108

      Where do you find such infos??

    • @FilipPasinecki
      @FilipPasinecki Před 6 lety +2

      I always thought the boost was because of the phase-shifting that the filters cause and not because of the resonance peak. But when I think about it logically, if its phase-shifting then we should both notice a boost and a decrease when the filter moves. Thanks for the info :)

    Omg... I've been trying forever to recreate a certain chord / pad sound from a meditation track that came with a Qigong course I've been practicing for over a decade, and at 5:30 you had already just about nailed it. The rest of the magic came from a Chinese flute instrument, I couldn't do that perfectly either but I'm pretty satisfied with a sound I got by putting a Valhalla Shimmer reverb on the Crystal Flute vst from Embertone. That thing has become my secret weapon for meditation music... But thanks for this!

    • @sidechaining_is_important
      @sidechaining_is_important  Před 7 lety

      Thank you! The 4th or the 9th note in a scale, added into/onto a chord. For example, a c major 9th chord would be a normal c major chord (1, 3, 5 - C, E, G) with the additional 9th note, a D (1, 3, 5, 9 - C, E, G, D). In the case of a ninth chord, it could also just be the 2nd note, though (1, 2, 3, 5 - C, D, E, G). The D would just move from way above the original chord down to in between the 1 and 3. The same idea works with the 4th. I hope that helps. =P

      It sounds like the sound is clipping - either at each track, or at the master - or you're just using low quality speakers that aren't capable of cleanly reproducing all of those lower frequencies that are so close together. If neither of those is the issue, you may just need a stronger LP filter and/or lower the cutoff.

      He used 3 because at the time it was just easy for him to visualize what each EQ was doing to the sound, and it can get a little confusing to only use one with all 8 of the filters turned on, but now he has gotten over himself and just uses one EQ to save CPU usage. so doesn't really matter as far as how it sounds.
