  • Back To Beach Performance:
This video shows a Sneak Peek of a 1974 Pro Stock Mustang ll, that is powered by a Ford 351 Cleveland. It was built from a body in white, and raced in The Pro Stock Class, circa 1974. The story goes, it was raced, and then put into a garage, and never hit the track again. The mustang fires up without issue, but no time when I was there... Next time I go and check it out, will have a vid of the nasty 351 Cleveland.
I went back to Beach Performance, and we fired up the Latham Axial supercharged Chevy 327, man talk bout supercharger whine, Holy Mackerel , made me jump. I have never heard a blower whine like that. This supercharger set up is an axial design, like a jet engine, without the combustion chamber, as per Bob Beach. This set up was developed, and sold in 1959, and made to install under hood of the 1959 Chevrolet Corvette. He said the original 327 made 300 hp, just by adding this Latham Supercharger kit with 2 four barrel carbs, added 100hp. Can you imagine, pulling up next to some one at a light with this whining monster, Hang the Hell on. The 327 is pretty mild, build, 10.5:1, small 220 duration cam, no other specs. They also made superchargers for Ford 312, and Chrysler 392 Hemi. Stay tuned for more on the racing history of these Latham Super Chargers, and one for a hemi.

For those who haven't heard of a Latham Axial SC before. It's basically like a belt driven turbine in housing in concept. Fun fact, there are a few different types of units and some can not be serviced at all or parts to be found. The sound of these things is basically an unheard first time eargasm

Every little bit helps to keep this channel going in as I say it all goes into DragBoss Garage Kitty. but I also appreciate your friendship, your caring, your honesty, intelligence, and information. All key factors for DragBoss garage because it’s not Chester engine and racing channel. It’s a channel from my heart and soul. It’s a quest a journey through racing history something I want to record for future generations, because it seems to be getting lost. again my family and I thank you for your contribution in all aspects. Way kewl! This reminded me of a 1965 Vette I was shown in a back room of a GM training center, in Tarrytown N.Y.. I think it was 1977. Paxton supercharger, blowing through a Rockchester fuel injection, and had a Powerglide with a clutch. I was lead to believe it was a few engineers “black project”, once upon a time, and it didn’t really exist on any of the GM books.
There were several other cars in there, that made me go hmmm…
