I agree with you 100%. The only thing we share is skin color. In terms of attitude, forward thinking, attention, culture, fashion, and swagger, South Africans cannot compete, next to a Nigerian, different animal. For most Nigerians we grew up in a society of over 200 cultures where interacting and mixing things up is the norm that's why Nigerian musicians and producers easily pick styles and mix it up. That's why the music from Nigeria is hard to classify as one.
As far as music goes Nigeria has been consuming African and Diasporic African music, from the Carribbean reggae American soul and jazz to Congolese Sokkous, Southern African, Northern African and East African sounds have always had Nigerian listening ears alongside Local Nigerian sounds, so it's just logical that Nigerians will be influenced by them. Ghanians too are similar in this case.
South Africans rarely mix things up with sounds outside South Africa therefore it takes time for foreigners to develop a liking for their unique sounds
It's only South Africans that will think of it as a beef. Nigerians don't see it as a beef, but rather cultural mixing. It's just that Nigeria has the population so it's bound to be that Nigeria will dominate.

I don't know why you would create a rivalry between South Africa and Nigeria. The true rivals of South Africa in terms of development are Egypt. Nigeria is a very poor country by every metric. It has now even been surpassed by Algeria and is the fourth largest economy in Africa as of 2024 with a GDP of $255 billion. Consider that Joburg alone has a GDP of $225 billion and that should tell you where Nigeria is.
