  • If you like the idea of a Volkswagen Golf R, but lead a little more luxury lifestyle, and want it in a true 4-door sedan package, look no further than the #Audi #S3. It may be Audi’s smallest sedan, but there’s nothing small about it when it comes to performance, style, technology, and comfort.

The Audi A3/S3/RS3 use a Haldex AWD system that can send up to 50% of power to the rear, normally around 95/5 power split until traction loss.
The longitudinal models (particularly with the ZF-8HP) are different however as they use a center torsen differential with a typical 40/60 power split (rear biased) that depending on the model can send up to 85% or so of power to the rear of needed. My (C7) A6 3.0T Quattro has the torsen setup with a rear-bias, and it drives very differently from Haldex systems.

Having less gears would affect its acceleration. It would take longer to reach 60mph from a standstill. Look at the Subaru WRX STI; It cannot compete with this car with its 6 speed. There is no human hand that can shift a 6 speed fast enough to keep up with modern 7 or 8 speed automatics. The Rs3 should have been released with an 8 speed dual clutch auto. It's uncharacteristic of a car in this class to come with less than 8 gears. Look at the Volvo S60 and Mercedes C class.

People simply aren't buying this car in the numbers that Audi wants or that Motorweek represents in this ADVERTISEMENT.
The #1-selling vehicle in Europe is America's Tesla Model 3. It's one of the USA's best-selling cars too. That alone tells you that Audi is simply not making what people want to buy.
The $56,000 mid-spec Tesla Model 3 has much better brakes, faster acceleration, and larger interior space (not to mention the usual other BEV advantages such as lower running costs)
(The top-spec Tesla Model 3 is of course, better than that)
28MPG on Premium gasoline is not "good" - it's expensive. The S3 has a 14.5U.S. gal tank. So it only has a range of 406 miles before you have to fill it up!!! Which at $4.40 a gallon is $64 every 406 miles!!!!
It's interesting (as in, suspicious) that you were able to handily beat the manufacturer's 4.5sec 0-60 acceleration figure, on winter tires that are "so bad" they contributed to a 129ft. 60-0 stopping distance. 129ft. is beaten by almost every other vehicle you've tested this year!!! Including massive SUVs and cheap econoboxes.

@@nixaeagle141 True. I'd drive an ev, when they get at least 500 miles, real world range and can charge quickly.

Audi's A3 is their UPSCALE HONDA CIVIC LOL, for which I don't understand b/c of the A4... THEY should get rid of the A3/S3, KEEP THE RS3 & focus on the A4, S or make an RS for the 4. it just doesn't make any sense, even ACURA got rid of the ILX, THEIR UPSCALE CIVIC LOL

This is true. Look up the prices on parts, like brakes. OMG. $1200 for front brakes vs. $400 for GM.

Sorry but giving it a Lexus grill won’t give it Lexus reliability.

Think Audi was doing the big grill first, Lexus copied it and made it bigger and ugly.

Yeah Lexus is known for always copying others' work, but then making it more reliable and super boring to drive. LFA excluded.
