- Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers are among the most elite operators in the US Armed Forces. Known as ASTs, they undergo a 10 month training regime that weeds out three of every four candidates. Once in the fleet, “swimmers” can count on being dropped into rescues on top of mountains, in hurricanes, flooded cities and far out to sea.

Its a 2 year plus waiting list, and a year plus of training to be fully certified. That’s nearly towards the end of ones first enlistment period. That’s a long time and dedication. Semper Paratus

I'm sorry to say but yeah 35yo is too late to start you have to have been 17-31 if you wanted to be a RS. But you never know call a recruiter.
