    Ayya Vandanā's bio:
Bhikkhuni Vandana hails from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Born in Gujarat, she grew up in a family rooted in Maharashtra. She was ordained as a Sāmanerī at the age of seven in 2005, under the guidance of her grandmother, who is also a Bhikkhuni.Starting her monastic life at such a young age, Bhikkhuni Vandana realized the lack of proper facilities for Bhikkhunis to train, learn about Buddhism, and practice. This inspired her to take action to support the Bhikkhuni Sangha in India. She received higher ordination in 2022 in Buddhagaya, India, the place where Buddha attained Enlightenment. Currently, Bhikkhuni Vandana is in the United States to learn and practice the Dhamma with senior Bhikkhuni Tathaloka Mahatheri. She plans to return to India after Vassa (the rainy season retreat).
