  • Professor Chomsky predicted a worsening of the gap between rich and poor and criticized Republican policy on welfare reform. He claimed that the U.S. is controlled, not by its government, but by big business.

I notice an issue with moral giants:
While sitting in the coffee bar discussing how to make a better world, a beggar stands at the door. Mr moral giant says "officer? Can you remove that smelly thing from the door?"
A middle class lady who was a youth in the 1960's talks to her daughter about how awful it is of the conditions the kids in the projects (or, in his housing schemes) live in who've never seen the countryside.
So, the daughter reminds the mother "hey! You've got that large holiday cabin up the hills! Why not take some there?"
"Oh no!" The mother says "we can't have those rascals messing up our cabin"
The middle classes go SILENT when it really matters, and stand and watch the poorer classes get eaten up.

That is, UNTIL IT EFFECTS THEM, BY WHICH TIME IT MIGHT BE TOO LATE.
Fundamentalists need to remember the words of their Lord and apostles: feed the poor, help the needy, the widows and widoewers, the oppressed, etc.
WE need to do that. The "masters" and "overlords" won't. They are happy robbing our resources.

In UK we have MP's (members of parliament, or in Scotland, MSPs: members of Scottish parliament).
We have the power to write or petition.
I'm sure America yet has an equivalent process?
The thing is, as most people feel discouraged to take part, then corporates take over.
BUT, it only takes a little like of letters written in to them for notice to be taken.
Even more so, it only takes a simple petition, and legally, action MUST be taken to look at the matter that has been brought to notice.
The only thing stopping this process is our lack of engagement.
We yet have more power than we realise.
But, too THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE "NEED" TO BE MARGINALISED! Because we are the true power, and to an extent, WE are the enemy. All of us.
