    I am doing a career change from Microbiology to Cybersecurity and this video really speaks to me. I am on my journey to obtain my Sec+ cert and entering a new field! Is it difficult to get a role with just a Sec+ cert and no experience? I'm already very tech savvy but it's more like a hobby!

      Hi there! Thanks for commenting, it really depends on how you position yourself! If you apply yourself and show that to an employer they will likely be interested in you!

      Ideally most employers want network experience too. I would say get a CCNA along with Security+ or CYSA+. For a reference go on indeed and look up requirements for hiring candidates.

    I am working with the State to advise leadership on SOC analysts working on premise vs. working remotely from home. Would it be possible to have our leadership visit the DOT SOC to observe the advantages of working on premise vs. working remotely?

      Hello! Thank you for commenting, as we are very conscious about our security on-site I can not confirm that this would be possible. But, please email us at info@DOTSecurity.com to get in contact with our team to discuss this possibility.

    How stressful is it? What are the work timings?

    • @dot.security
      @dot.security  Před rokem +1

      Hi there! Our Cybersecurity Analysts currently work 8 AM - 5 PM (excluding US holidays), although we are working towards shifting to a full 24/7 model. In the meantime, our analysts are on an after-hours escalation list in the event that a client alert calls for immediate escalation. Feel free to email us at dotty@dotsecurity.com if you have any other questions!

    Hi, what are the certifications which help you to get ready for SOC position?

    • @dot.security
      @dot.security  Před rokem +2

      Hi, thanks for commenting! A lot of our SOC employees have many certifications. CompTIA has a huge list of certifications that could fit into what you might be most interested in! Cisco is also a great option, but CompTIA is what we see the most! We hope that helps you on your cybersecurity training journey!!

      @@dot.security thanks for the replay, i wanted specifically, for example CompTIA has Security+ and Network+ related to SOC, are these two certs enough to land a job in SOC position?
      Thanks.

    • @dot.security
      @dot.security  Před rokem +5

      Well, there are tons of different positions in our SOC, and we certainly take a holistic approach to hiring. It would depend partly on your other qualifications and fit with our team for the specific position you would be applying for! :)
      Those two certifications are great options, you may want to also check out the Project+, A+, Pentest+, or CySA+ certifications if you were interested in the penetration testing side of SOC work!
      These are some great questions though, you seem to be on the right path to reaching your career goals for a SOC position!
