I have an external DVD player that hooks right up to my laptop. They are about 30 bucks

So do I, BUT my point was that it's a prerequisite for playing a disc and if you don't have one, the rest doesn't matter until you get one...whether you're on Mac or Windows.

I just wish you can play subtitles! As for being illegal to rip a DVD if the computers still shipped with the drives and software would support play back, then people wouldn't need to rip it.

@@timothystubs4629 also true. I’m not 100% clear if you can do it with specific written permission from the copyright holder, but you’d AT LEAST need that.

No it's not. It's illegal to bypass the copy protection IF the DVD has it (most do).
