Pretty sure the power claim is bs for example if you had two people who practiced the exact same amount why would a left handed person muscles be stronger when they're both doing the exact same movement.
But if you had two knew people pick up a katana I can see how the left handed person might have more power but they'd also have less control over the blade and would he open to a counter so how is left hand an advantage. Really seems like a skill issue to me
@@dinoteddy4842 If you practice enough at a skill, it won't matter which hand is your dominant hand. It'll just take a bit longer to get to the same level of skill.
@@dinoteddy4842 I mean, after a certain point aye, but if you primarily use one hand it will likely be slightly stronger (say you grab the stuff you need to carry with your left hand every time, it's not a lot but it will give a slight difference between the strength of each arm.

Also, being left side dominant gives you a big advantage in terms of fighting with a weapon and overall fighting depending on the context.

Japan was weird about being left handed. My left handed grandmother born in the 1930s in rural Aomori was forced to learn to write and do everything else right handed. Japanese writing can feel very unintuitive to do left handed since there is a proper stroke order for every kanji, hiragana, and katakana character that requires going left to right on horizontal strokes.
I'm very thankful to be ambidextrous because when writing characters I ended up having to go right handed to not need writing the sentence backwards

That’s not just Japan, America is the same. The word sinister comes from the Latin word meaning “on the left side”. Apparently the Romans were really superstitious. I was born left handed, and my family made me learn how to write with my right hand. People used to be weird about that stuff back in the day. The issue with being left handed is that while it does generate more power because of the main hand, people are quick to forget that it's also the most dexterous hand too.
We handle the blade better and more effectively the left handed way, not the right handed way.

To be fair, tjey didn't usd the katanas very often, so it doesn't matter that much. In medieval Europe it was mandatory to be right handed too. It was about uniformity.
