There are many reasons all techies are moving to Canada - firstly no stress every time you return to India on H1B, secondly Canada doesn't have a country quota and gives a PR (equivalent of GC) very easily, If you're a smart and entrepreneurial engineer, US is sort of like a girlfriend with commitment issues, while Canada is forever. Currently Canada is like the US back in the 1990s in terms of visa, so moving there would make life very easy

How would you explain high cost of living , low salaries and not enough places for Tech jobs in Canada ? I don't see that in US though ...you can find high paying job anywhere in US easily as compare to Canada. Also don't forget high taxes that you pay in Canada but you don't get full benefit of it ..Universal healthcare is good until you need it ...

You also need to check not every Canadian city offers high salary jobs compared to what it offers in every almost famous cities of US. You cannot compare any scenarios with US as US population way more higher than what you see in Canada. You need to consider the big factor so called Winter in every Canadian cities. Every canadian is dependent on US as every canadian bread and butter is being imported from US

    • @atw007

Well its good that you think good about Canada and its true that Canadians are polite as compared to other nationalities but unfortunately you're looking at Canada through American lens. Only positive thing is that you can get Nationality after going through the process which seems difficult in US.
Canada cannot be compared to US because Canada is still very very small in terms of resources. businesses and developed cities in comparison to US. Moreover, Canadians are way too slow and it will take them decades to become competitive with US. There are so many red tapes and a Lotttt is required over there to be fixed. I am pretty sure that Canada cannot cope up with the number of students and immigrants going there. Moreover, only 2 or max 3 cities are developed enough to handle the influx of highly qualified people I.e Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa otherwise all other cities are like beautiful villages.

I did by BS here in US, the immigration system is so bad i cant bear the uncertainty of being kicked out of the country 60 day clock in unemployment and so much restriction on H1B. I wanna do freelance and also travel so a Canadian passport is a huge help. For my personal sake i have decided to move to canada and still earn a US salary there are a lot of ways to do that people in india also earn US salaries so as long as money problem is solved i can live in vancouver similar to Seattle i dont see if money is not the issue how is US better if later i wanna work in the US i can always come in TN visa very easy to get so every way Canada is better! It gives PR easy do whatever you want freedom to experiment try new things

The only downside being in the US seems to be the pathway to citizenship and specifically for Indiana because of their population. All other countries remain current in the visa bulletin each month except for China and India. Healthcare can be expensive but you have access to healthcare right away. You don't have to wait for weeks or months to get treatment here in the US. Weather is great, endless job opportunities and you experience the culture because you will never see Desi people do dominance in a certain neighborhood or City unlike Canada. I think both are good counties.

This will take abt 7 years ... get really good in tech skills during this time .. get married... come to usa on TN visa and get a highly paid job ... Have kids in USA .. dont bother with H1B and GC.. when kids turm 21 , they will file for your GC.. you will have to keep extending TN visa for abt 25 years .. no biggie .... If all is good you will have GC by 55 ... this is a much better plan than wasting time in us universities and H1B loteery then visa renewal headaches and never getting a GC plus you always have the option of returning to Canada if things don't work out in USA

In your case, Canadian citizenship is Approx. 8.5 years away :-
As you said you wanna go for Masters, so here is a realistic breakdown:
Masters=1.5 years + PR = 2 years + Citizenship = 5 years (That too if you physically stayed all the 5 years on Canadian soil without going on vacations / without changing physical address OR without any issues related to your PR / Citizenship applications). Incase you did any one of these 3 things then add that additional time duration into your delay time as well.

UOFT Pearson Full Ride Scholarship and few other universities is basically merit based scholarship in Canada where as US is based as financial aid.
For Canada Pearson if a rich kid is coming also they provide full ride if the child is eligible but where as US check financial status too I personally felt in case of full ride mostly this is the case otherwise upto 50% it’s quite generous for meritorious students in US.

And there is no way to get a green card in US right now, so that answers the question

be single during this process. If you are going as married man, then there are high chances, your wife has an affair with a citizen in Canada and dumps you and you have no family to rescue you. And like fake 498A, Canada laws also has no checks on false accusations put on by their estranged wives.

Under 6 months PR? No brother it takes nearly 2 years to get PR then you should stay nearly for 3 years in Canada after your PR then you can apply for citizenship it takes 6 months to 1 year so nearly 7 years (2 years for PR+ 4 years to 5 years for citizenship)

    • @atw007
      @atw007 Před rokem +2

7 years in your case if you go for Masters and then your PR and Citizenship applications are perfect and without any eror and you spend all these 4-5 years on Canadian soil without going back to home country on long vacations. If you moved between provinces/cities or go outside Canada during these years then add that time into delay as additional time.

I think same because Canada sucks for IT, salaries are too low for software engineering as compared to US. You can just check average salary for Vancouver and torronto and compare them too major cities of US. Also, canada ain't cheap anymore. So US rocks atleast in IT jobs.
