  • Continuing their journey to Nautilus, Sazh and Vanille reach a station where they can catch a ship to the city. Seeking shelter from the heavy rain a dejected Vanille asks Sazh if he really hates Pulse to which he confirms that he does although he didn't always hate it. He blames the Sanctum for making warning after warning about Pulse and the threats and not once did they offer any proof. He believed the Sanctum was up to no good until he got dragged in. He believes the only reason the Purge even happened was because his son Dajh found the Pulse fal'Cie. Vanille tries to tell Sazh the truth about why Dajh became a l'Cie but becomes too upset and runs into the rain to hide her tears. Thanks for watching.

Fun fact: the very end of this scene is slightly different in the Japanese version. Sazh warns Vanille that she'll catch a cold standing in the rain, and Vanille responds that she'll be fine, saying to herself "since I'm an idiot." A Japanese superstition states that idiots cannot catch colds.
That said, I like how they changed it to make sense for English-speaking audiences, since "it's only water" can refer to both the rain and her tears, and has the subtext of guilt as "this is nothing compared to what I did to you."

Oh gosh, that's amazing. Makes me love Vanille even more.
