It's not that they suck. The studio versions are performed differently because if they screw up they can try again and again. In Tony's case, one can't expect to perform flawlessly in songs that require as much range as the ones he's singing with Sonata and as much volume as he likes to apply to them, so instead he does some changes in tones. Otherwise he'd lose his voice with the first two songs.

@Keyguya For television or just broadcast in general, it's normal to make a third, completely independent, mix. Probably they had a new guy making the broadcast mix for this gig. ;-)

We don't even know if this take was taken from band monitor mixing or from the audience perspective. If you want to hear a good gig where henrik and sound balance is right listen to metalhultsfred or for the sake of revenge dvd. This whole thing has been horribly EQed too.

@Kojitsu Indeed. And I am a keyboardist myself that takes alot of influence from Jens and stratovarius so ye it can be challenging. But in this song you get a bad impression when theres a keys intro performed badly.... improv or just sloppy. Jordan Rudess in DT has far more complex stuff then both henrik and jens put together and doesnt need to improv.... And when Jens improvs its epic.... Henriks is just....... ugh :(
Ugh, Henrik is just... well he makes me think this band is bad live. It is hard to come across a really good keyboardist. But Henrik cannot play live, he makes it sound sloppy and can never get his volume right... And I think the guitar is way to quite, they do this every time :/. And the change over of solos for Henrik sounded amateur. Still a great band though ^_^.
The worst camera work i've seen on live videos......the keyboard player giving his life playing as the virtuoso he is......and the shooting focused on rhythm guitar and drummer........makes me puke!
Elias que guitarrista mas malo. No es capaz de tocar un solo básico y además le mentirea. Podría tratar de tocar la versión de estudio si le resulta demasiado dificil.
Don't confuse a poor quality video from 10+ years ago (with an equally poor mixed audio) with the actual talent of a band/artist. I've seen them live and they're as good as on studio. You don't have to believe me, go watch them yourself.
