I'm the proud owner of the 500 anniversary. Is great on a twisty road and good off road, not only the easy ones. I'm very happy.
I'm a proud owner of the Flat Track version and I can tell you, it is a lot of fun. Beautiful Bike. Previously I was riding a 4 cylinder so it took a while to get used to the behaviour of a one cylinder machine though.
Bought this bike on June 6th, coming from an heavier and bigger cafe racer....It's very(but very very) light and easy to drive. It gives instantaneous confidence and the 40hp are just PERFECT for City traffic, Commuting, Medium distances trip and Easy Off Road......A real "Fun Bike", with a stunning look that makes You proud at every traffic light, considering the amount of people looking at You with sparks in the eyes.... Unique "CON" is the the fairing lights block that is not so easy to control at first and the attention You have to put on unwanted unscrewings due to vibrations( be very careful to the carbon fiber protection on the exhaust pipe.... OR YOU MIGHT LOSE IT!!!!)..... And, if You're a "trendy hipster" watch out to the pedals.... they are VERY EDGY and those little spikes for the grip might ruin easily Your 300$ shoes.... LAMPS!!!!
I’ve just recently bought a Caballero Scrambler 125. It’s my first bike (I’m 52!) and it’s a great little thing. The build quality is so much better than the Sinnis, Bullit, Mash etc - the chromoly frame is really well made and the billet fork yokes and footrest hangers are very nicely machined. For the potholed lanes and roads here in Wales I can’t think of a better choice and the Fantic name has real heritage with us of a certain age. Oh - it’s also a blast to ride.
Hy ! Sorry, i repeat my question, Is the frame really made by CrMo steel (chromoly)? It made in Italy? If you know...)
And Mark, please tell me, your bike ride like a regular 125 cc? Or faster? I ask because there is no engine power information of 125 cc in official website)....Do you have experience with a cubic capacity of more than 125 cc to give an objective opinion? Thank you in advance)
@@ruswing2260 It's a shame that nowadays manufacturers don't even tell the speed.
I can tell you that traditionally Fantic brand used to mod the engines but this regards to Fantic in the 80s then the factory shut down.
Fantic build this bike 30 km to my house, it's famous in Italy for Motard/enduro bike
This is what "scrambler" is supposed to be.
Not a 400 lb. hernia-maker.
Just been out on test ride on a well used dealer demo bike with 2000miles on it has washed n cleaned well comfier seat than the taller of road version. ..good brakes.. good power.. usable ...handles well ..flickable. .well made. good ride on bumpy shitty cumbrian back lanes.. .very attractive in the metal....only criticism small speedo ...but hey ho...sounds brill specially it popping n banging on off throttle ps no afilation to fantic...cheers from dave
Thanks for the review of this bike , It has answered a lot of questions for me . Keep up the great reviews !!
It’s a shame they aren’t available in the USA. Great bike. I’d add it to my garage...
It's all about import costs and custom duties, blame it on the government.
It will always be in the garage, with all the problems these bikes have.
Love it...especially the Rally model. Cant wait for it to come to the states..
Saw these at BikeShed and was really impressed with them, agree they look and feel like a premium brand at much less money, would definitely consider for a weekend trail/off-roader👍
Un jouet !! Depuis 3 semaines à la maison et un bonheur immense ! Une moto facile et réactive ! Des pneus au top pour une conduite mixte avec un bon grip sur route. Réellement une moto sérieuse dans la catégorie Scrambler.
I had a fantic trials/section 250. It was a good bike. I like the look of this bike. It looks like a 60s Maico...It looks military issue. Install a small cargo rack and a few bungee cords to finish it off. Just what I need for my gold prospecting on weekends to get way in there where no car has gone before.
Exactly what a Scrambler should be, light weight with 17/19'' wheels. Great review.
I've seen it up close. The plastics are indeed a bit flimsy and look almost ready to break but they're designed to be a cheap replacement. Also the fuel tank is actually a plastic cover of the actual metallic fuel tank that sits underneath. Also meant to be a cheap replacement. Looks a bit overpriced to me but one of the best looking out there, indeed.
lots of good bikes about today , been looking never would of considered a Fantic , had a fast bike , want a single bit slower bit of off road , saw this it is spot on just what i want
It does look a great machine for the money. I very recently tried the Triumph Scrambler XE which was nice but just about double the price and there were things I didn't like with that.
Looking forward to seeing what the Norton Atlas is like (wife has one on order)
I can see why the 1200 is worth twice the money for touring type riding, but if you’re just using a bike to get around a bit and try a bit of gravel road, this looks like an awesome shout
Looks great, I’d happily get one for bad weather days.. if I could afford it! 🙄😃👍 I’m liking the look of these tyres.. pretty sure Premises187 just put a set on his Honda! 🤔
Nice bike, pays homage to the Fantic Caballeros of the mid 1970s I lusted after. But if Royal Enfield build a 650 Himalayan, it will be a serious competitor.
Yes, this caught my eye too. I'd go for the cafe racer version. If I had the money I'd definitely test one. Bet it's a right laugh on the back roads without having the power to get into too much trouble 👍
@@motobob if I ever got rid of my trusty bandit I'd definitely have one of these. Depending on your review of course 😉
Yet another cool motorcycle that has not hit the Canadian shores. Even though mutt motorcycles has offices in Canada they still haven't shipped any of those either. Great video great bike
@@motobob not a lot of dealers when it comes to smaller manufacturers.I know of one dealer selling brands like Ural, CCM, and SWM but they're pretty far away from me. Also prices in Canada are ridiculous as we are pretty small market with our writing season that is relatively short. It would be nice to have more selection but realistically, it's not worth it for people to try to stock and sell here.
Very good, I like it, thanks 🤙
That looks fantastic, I have an SWM Silver vase and the motor is also Chinese, a risk perhaps, but triumph also build theirs in Asia , so do Ducati and a few others so it’s a matter of function and quality and the these little singles are great. Paul
I agree, a great looker, and if on-road performance wasn’t a major requirement, a definite contender 👍
@@motobob What exactly do yall mean by this? Im seriously considering getting this bike but I may routinely have to use highways. Should that stop me from getting the caballero?
Very nice design
Fantic made great trials bikes ,had the k roo 250 very reliable bike.
Hello just subscribed and love your reviews. I'm thinking of returning to biking after a long time away. I live in the foothills of the Brecon beacons and my choices are fantic caballero scrambler or rally 500, husky svartpilen 401, mash 650 x ride or dirt track. I don't need the bike for traveling to work, which should I choose?
Thanks Mark! I've just been borrowing the Vitpilen 701 and I've got to say I absolutely loved it - vid coming soon. Is the 701 out of your budget? I'd expect the Svartpilen 701 to be equally as good. It's the perfect amount of power for the roads you have, and nice and light too. Corners so well!
@@motobob thank you for the reply, I'm not sure what the price is for the 701, i will need to look it up.
Beautiful. Could you, mention in the future the seat hight so people can decide if the frame is big enough for them?
Would love to have one of these but they're not sold in the United States.
Hy to all!! Is the frame really made by CrMo steel (chromoli)? It made in Italy?
There tracker model is also prety cool. Are you going to do a video on that as well?. yours videos are awesome, you deserve a lot of success on youtube. Cheers from Portugal
Thanks Angelo - appreciate the support. I’ll see if Krazy Horse can Rooke a tracker out for me too
Even the Mahindra mojo with a 300cc engine comes in the scrambler category. You should check that out too. Cheers!
Put some street tires on it, you have an ideal commuter! :)
True! Or something a little more hybrid than these Pirellis which will definitely have a little rumble to them
skinnelli Not much use as a commuter as the bars are wide and thus not much use for filtering through traffic.
@@brahnseer3512 you could bolt on narrower bars!
I'd like to see a 'road' version too.
I am looking for a commuter bike and this one was on my list thanks to your test and many others but why oh why can't these brands build a decent website. Apparently there is no dealer in Belgium so ... on to something else I guess.
But thanks far an other good review and all the great content, much appreciated!!
I don't get the two mufflers on a single but other than that it looks interesting
It's a good looking bike and I'd like to have a go on one. Actually my very first bike was a Fantic Caballero RC50, way back in 1976 and that was a looker too.
How does it handle at highway speed?
very nice bike
The SWM is a similar Italian offering, would be great to see that on the channel.
MOTOBOB I’m actually not a UK resident, so wouldn’t know. Can’t imagine it’ll be too long, though. It’s got a fantastic price to quality ratio.
@@motobob 3x in Bournemouth do Fantic & SWM. I'm planning to get out there to have a look at both. Not sure about London though.
A cheaper alternative - SWM 440, I've done 10,000kms on the Gran Torismo , Scrambler and Milano , a well proven XR400 motor and so much fun to ride
Bill Admond to be correct the engines are made by Shineray in China sent to the factory in Italy stripped bored from 400cc to 445cc cyl heads are worked fitted with fuel injection and an oil cooler = 30bhp not bad for an old tech aircooled motor , the rest of the bike is built in Italy with some out sourcing of parts which all manufacturers do , so your point is what Bill ?
@@marshallbacon2527 I made the point very clear but it seems you took it personal LOL
Don't judge me wrong but I used to be a retailer of the "old" and glorious SMW brand back in 80s including on race field service so if we talk about buying a SWM bike because of its brand, then people should be aware that it isn't 100% made in Italy anymore.
By the way, calling people's names is unnecessary and rude and it reminds of bullies who didn't have parents' education also who left school prematurely.
@@marshallbacon2527 the Fantic is also Chinese Zongshen :-) The SWM is produced in Huqvarna factory and really have good quality .They produce more models with own engines.
Man oh man I wish this bike would come to America
Are they available in the U.S. yet? If not WHY?? this is the style of bike I've been looking for.
Like it.
Nice
Agree the styling is bang on. Can imagine it'd be a very handy urban assault bike. Power output is almost identical to a motard-style Honda FMX650 that I used to run. A big single provides a lot of direct stomp, perfect for fast drags between traffic lights, but very quickly becomes tiresome at higher speeds on an open road. Still, I'd happily have the Caballero as a second bike.
Never heard of this brand before. But it does look wicked
Back in the 80s, the rich kids rode Fantic mopeds in Germany. They looked very similar to this Scrambler and costing about twice to three times what a peasant's moped would have set you back. It was kind of a dream bike for the 16 year old. Looked like a real motorcycle. They even had a weird version which still looked like a motorcycle, but had pedals like a bicycle and a foot shifter.
...heavier but the Triumph is a 1200 twin and one just finished 5th in the Baja 1000 off road race.
Yeah it looks like a great bike, but twice the price pretty much. Is it twice the fun?
I'd wager the one that finished the race was not one you can buy from the showroom.
Dude, people wanna here that thing!
Looks great! Reminds me a bit of the Husqvarna Moab concept bike.. But again nice video!
Thanks mate as always - appreciate it! Yeah I think it’s a great looking bike. Wouldn’t mind one for razzing around
Why isn't this available in the US?
For me, it ticks so many boxes, the light bike for commuting, little bit of trail riding in the south of London if I make the effort of finding them and reasonable seat height, I won’t be trying to ride any adventure bike over boulders, I will do the gnarly terrain on my eMTB. The other advantage it has over a used Ducati scrambler is that it’s water cooled, so won’t bake my calves at the so many traffic lights I have to stop at. Small capacity is fine since I am more of a plodder than a racer on the road and not into touring. Decisions, decisions
Bring it to philippines
back in the 1970s every other bike was an off road bike, TL, TS, TY, DT, XL, and the italian bikes, times turning the screw, sick of copy WSB bikes, these are fun,
Best budget scrambler this is called.
A bold statement if you haven't tried the husky 401 svartpilen for £3999.
Good vid though, I live down the road from krazy horse, lovely shop.
Oh pls. On the continent the 401 is 6500 euro (exactly the same as the Caballero), which right now translates to 5700 pounds. The fact that right now it's offered at 4000 pounds, only means they hardly sold any at the sticker price.
@@DerpEye yeah yeah, 🙄 if you buy either of these bikes you're taking a chance because of limited dealer network.
You're right about the husky, not selling well immediately I imagine, but being cloned from a duke 390 means that all running gear is transferable and plentiful compared to the beautiful but very niche caballero.
Do you understand that?
Only thing I don't like is that the exhaust pipe dips down right in front of the bash plate.. A hard hit and not only is the pipe damaged but it also could do some damage to the head, where it connects.. I would be cutting the pipe and routing it differently, up and away from harms way..
Can I get one in USA California??!?!?! Please?
Usually the word caballero is pronounced “cabayero,” where the two Ls sounds like a Y. Is it different for this particular bike? Great video btw!
May be because this bike is Italian or the guy doesn't know that in Spanish two ll are pronounced like a y or both :)
Like the bike and the vid.
I do know this, but my audience is predominantly UK. I get a lotttttt of comments about pronunciation of “Moto Guzzi” too, but you can’t please everyone 🙃
@@motobob now I have to go and check out how you pronounce Moto Guzzi. Cunning way to get extra views! :)
If I was in Spain or the video was made in Spain I might give a crap but the vid was made in welling, south east london and we dont make up pronunciation to sound windswept and interesting. 👎
Looks like a great bit of kit for the ££££...
Not a bad looking bike! Would make a nice city commuter or put some Michelin/Pirelli street tires on either model and you’d have yourself a nice little super-moto!
I like the look of that bike. Is it just me, or did the start up sound a bit like a bag of loose spanners?
Mate had a Fantic T.I. two stroke in the seventies ,6 speed box that thing would hit 52mph .Faster than my fizzy dx .But it was a pig to start ,and so unreliable .Time he got it running I was their on my slower bike {tortoise and hare I guess } .
Nice bike,
When I heard the words chinesse build my hope came crashing down
Where was your phone made.... ?
Where was your laptop made... ?

Sounds a little like an oxymoron. :)
Or is the translation meaning different for Spanish speakers?
The Frantic Flintstones caballero. It's the psychobilly scrambler
The proof of the pudding, etc. Until you try taking it off road, it's all conjecture.

A lot a lot a lot troubles with my brand New Rally500 and factory not even react ! My dealer self is lost by so much troubles and no Fantic Motor response ! A real shame
A Chinese made, Italian assembled motorcycle. What could go wrong?
Can't handle it - OCD won't let me not make comment - I beg you not to pronounce the two "l's" - it's Caba"y"ero - just like it's Ma"y"orca - oh, and the beer is Estre"y"a - ahhhhhhhh! Other than being a smart-ass - yep, that's a nice bike :-)
It´s a good thing you know you´re being a smart-ass. It´s a bad thing you don´t know you´re trying to "correct" someone by saying nonsense. As a Spaniard, I can assure you the sound "y" ("ye") and the sound "ll" ("elle") are very different sounds, both for native Spanish speakers, and for anyone who actually has a half-working ear (Don´t trust me, look it up). As such, neither "Caballero" nor "Mallorca" are actually pronounced as you say, which I´m afraid is nothing but the most common, SHITTY pronuntiation used by foreigners who believe they know how to speak Spanish properly.
And nice bike, indeed...
@@AndrewBoundy So pretentious, so desperate to "correct" people on the Internet, and so unable to even offer an apology.
And my "anger" is just me laughing at people like you... :D
Peace!
The number plate is massive and looks ridiculous
The Chines make good stuff, when they have Western Quality Control inspectors standing over them. Otherwise it's usually junk.
Is this a Chinese bike?
Just the motor. It's assembled in Italy and I believe the frame is built there too
No... Benelli leoncino 👍
ScrambleMe the Benelli QJ Leoncino has similar power, 50kgs more, completely Chinese-built. This one also looks better to me.
The Leoncino might be a little bit better on road trips, but on any other POW the Caballero’s worth much more.
A Chinese made motor? No thanks.
So this weird looking 450 isn't 500. Chinese motor, and Italian bits. I guess the Chinese motor is the best bit.
Dude...it's pronounced "Caba-yerro".
What is a scrambler? My background is with eggs not motorcycles!
Worthless info. I can't find a Fantic dealer in Texas or ANYWHERE close to Texas. No good to brag on an Italian bike that is unavailable in the U.S.A. What a waste of video.
You lost me with communist engine I'm sure we have an ally that could copy an engine.
🍀🏁👍🚶
All right, so I have owned this bike for about three months now and have ridden about a 1 000 km on it. Just so you know where this is going... I love it! The negatives: It's quite tall for a short rider such as me (172 cm) but still manageable. It's a one cylinder engine (now, some of you may feel that is a good thing...). It is difficult to handle if you are used to Japanese V-twins (engine doesn't work the same at all...).The positives: GRUNT! Nimble! Extremely fun to ride! And, actual off-road capabilities ) good thing for a scrambler...). If you want to know more, PM me (I am in Sweden).
Thanks for the info mate! I’m hoping to take one for a test ride in a week or two
So, just had the 1 000 km service done... Opted for the race-mapping of the engine. Sweet Jesus! Valve clearances adjusted and more torque. Now, I just want to say you don't have to get the race-mapping but, sweet lord, it does make a difference... as previously stated, if you want to know more, pm me...
Hello sir! Do you still have the caballero? Are you happy and still advising who are thinking to buy one? Any long term problems engine and other parts wise? Thanks
@@salihkocak7205 Yes, I still have it and I still enjoy it. I'm getting close to 10 000 km now and have experienced no problems. I service it regularly at the dealership where I bought it. As I said, still a fun bike!
