Oh I didn't expect her to lye down and roll over lol. So nice to see. That little one is amazing. Her leg control is fabulous for just being 1 day old. 💚🌿💚
But she was walking, encouraging little( one day old) foal to follow....maybe this is not her first rodeo! Nice looking dog there! Not all mares are the same, maybe tomorrow's lesson will be more intensive.... Love Friesians... Lisa in Los Angeles 🌏🇦🇺🐨. ☮️💟🐎🐎. 😷. 👍
That is a breath taking view. The mare and foal have a breezy day with fewer flys. Horses all over the world look for a good rolling spot in the same way. My grandfather who farmed with horses till he was past sixty five, and said that a horse that could roll all the way over was a good horse. Scientific research to back that up? Not yet. That is a gorgeous mare. The dog must spend time around the barn. Mom doesn’t mind the company.
Do you know anything about Sleepy, the Friesian ridden by Sam Heughan in the 1st season of "Outlander"? His on-screen name is Donas. I just want to learn if he is well and can we see him in other productions.
Lauren Our mares don't have shoes on when they have foals. This was Geatsje's first baby so it was all new to her but has turned out to be a very good mother 😍
Horses can actually kick a fly off your nose they are so accurate with their feet. I once came off a jumper over a fence and landed directly in front of him. He was so careful where he placed his feet upon landing that he ripped the collar and sleeve off my jacket but never even pinched my skin. They are that accurate because they don't want to snap a leg - not miss us.

Dont think i wd put a 1 day old foal out in a windy pasture. at 3 days old perhaps an indoor arena...i see the mom accidently kicked the foal when she rolled over and attempted to kick it when it got a little close to her. it appears the foal was a little stunned and afraid of being outside as a newborn...thats why it stuck SOO close to the mare; it was afraid.

Beautiful mom and foal and Beautiful scenery!!
I love Friesians. They are good mamas. Beautiful windy day.
That foal is absolutely precious! 💞
How majestic is Mama horse! Love the wind blowing through her mane. What a beautiful pair!
Very sweet, mother and child. Also, beautiful scenery!

Anne, it really is...strong little foal!
the horses, and scenery are so beautiful and the dog is awesome.
Beautiful dog. Ready to fight if an enemy approaches.
Friesians are such gorgeous horses. It's hard to imagine this foal's mother was once as tiny as she is!
😆☮️💟🐎🐎
Mom is clearly very comfortable with the dog, kind of surprised that she wasn't a bit more forceful with such a new foal. Thanks for posting.

I agree abt her level of comfort with the dog. To roll like that puts her at a disadvantage but she did it with dog right there. Such a sweet video.
I love Scotland, been there a few times. The horses are beautiful. 🇨🇦🥰
That foal sticks so close to Mom, I think she needs that little role in the grass. Amazing how quickly foals run & play!
Scotland looks quite beautiful....
The foal has really long legs! Its awfully cute the way wanders around the mare, trying to avoid being stepped on!
The mama was very careful not to do anything that would hurt the foal. So beautiful to witness such love.

I just LOVE watching how mother horses tend to their babies….
Nice to see keepers who don’t think they have to have halters on their mammas and babies! Very nice!
