I haven't played most of the game yet, so what I'm about to say could be completely inaccurate, in which case I apologize, but it does not seem like the game will change "they said stupid thing while other thing happened" is a worthwhile critique... when that's the only joke formula in the game I can't think of a single "joke" that isn't either being crude where other games wouldn't be, such as the tutorial guy swearing and talking about his divorce or being able to shoot the child OR pointing out how something that's normal in other game, is actually kinda weird, like going up to random people and asking about the bounty hunter Neither of which I'd really count as jokes, but I digress those joke formats can be really funny if pulled off well, AND IN MODERATION the moderation is what High on Life forgets if they sat stupid thing while other thing happens once, some people may find it funny, some may not, that's how jokes work if they say stupid thing while other thing happens 10 times in a row, the jokes long past its expiration date One cake is good, but you'd throw up if you ate 99 more TL;DR: the game makes the same jokes so many times they stop being funny

the bad guys getting skipped sounds hilarious. the level of work with voice acting put into anticipating what speedrunners will need to do to skip portions is next level. honestly it would make watching a speedrun of this game worthwhile. its literally the memes of speedrunning in an actual game.
Best part of this game was the warped in island/road where those two aliens are just roasting and cursing each other out. Literally put my controller down and just listened and laughed 😅🤣

If I had to guess, there's event trigger bounds with IDs to go in order, but if you skip a few you get a chance to hear special voice lines. Super charming!
Whether you like the game or not, it is creative. It may not be for everyone but I have yet to see a game that made me feel so immersed due to how the world around you reacts to every decision you make. Made me feel like I was the main character. 75% of AAA games released today have mixed reviews and are broken beyond repair. I gotta say it was refreshing to play something that you could tell the dev's actually gave a shit about. People get upset that this game is $60(free on gamepass & an indie dev team) but fail to realize that COD(AAA game, $70-$100) has banned over 150,000 accounts permanently for no reason. I was one of them and will never purchase a cod again in my life. I spent over $140 on a game where I got perma banned with no reason or explanation and an email saying they won't change their mind. My point is shit on the game and price all you want but at the end of the day I know 99% of those people are coming from AAA $70+ games like COD where the devs quite literally scam/steal from their supporters.
This reminds me of Super paper mario when mario asks ''what does this A button do?'' and the npc you talk to says: The Player on thr other side knows what it is
This game is incredibly easy to break the boundaries for in some areas. They give you a high jump, some object physics and then later; a jetpack?! And they don't expect us to go where they might not want us? Haha To their credit, they usually have collectables there, though not typically meant to be reached by complex means.

Great world exploration, genuinely deep characters with a lot of heart, and no time wasting “collect 100 golden egg” nonsense quests. After beating the game I came online to see if I missed any cool stuff - turns out everyone hates this game? And _then_ it turns out all the people who hate it haven’t even played it? Where is the hate coming from?
one moment you're shooting aliens with a talking gun, the next you're in an office building, and another you're talking to a sentient visual novel character oh, and after that you're fighting a skeleton

I love how supportive the game is about you speed running. It shows how much love and compassion the devs put into this game and that they would love to see the amount of time that they can beat this game. This game may not be for me, but hell, I do enjoy the content people make about this game!

I loved the later boss fights they got extremely hard when play on the hardest mode. Love finding all the boxes everywhere and having to go back. Knifey funny af
That last line is interesting. It honestly feels like it's meant for players who played a long time ago and remember where they're supposed to go, but not how to get there. Just from the clips I've seen, this game seems really interesting
Suit-O in context of the game knows exactly where Dr. Giblets is and did the whole time, he just wants to play detective that much.
@@boopsnoot3142 Oh, that makes more sense. Yeah, I haven't played the game at all, just seen these shorts
Justin Roiland speedrunning the end of his career
"You're not gonna fight us?!"
😂😂😂😂
I'll be the first to say the humour doesn't always stick with me but I won't deny the effort, creativity and entertainment this game offers. Not the deepest game considering gameplay mechanics but it still offers a lot. I don't wanna end up like that one vtuber I saw where they went like "HaHa You GuYs GeT iT?!?! ThEy SaId StUpId ThInG WhIlE oThEr ThInG hApPeNeD!!" as if that is worthwhile critique or adds value to the comedy
u literally watch v tubers
@@fantasprite612 I Don't remember. I was just skimming through videos CZcams recommended me and just found one that also played this game. I think even the title was something obnoxious in the nature. I think it was like a quote that basically mocked the game for making a neon genesis reference.
Sounds like they did the exact same jokes this game pulls. It's like with the kid you kill, or with the boss who kills himself, they just can't not make a comment about the situation that adds nothing to it.
I haven't played most of the game yet, so what I'm about to say could be completely inaccurate, in which case I apologize, but it does not seem like the game will change
"they said stupid thing while other thing happened" is a worthwhile critique...
when that's the only joke formula in the game
I can't think of a single "joke" that isn't either being crude where other games wouldn't be, such as the tutorial guy swearing and talking about his divorce or being able to shoot the child
OR pointing out how something that's normal in other game, is actually kinda weird, like going up to random people and asking about the bounty hunter
Neither of which I'd really count as jokes, but I digress
those joke formats can be really funny if pulled off well, AND IN MODERATION
the moderation is what High on Life forgets
if they sat stupid thing while other thing happens once, some people may find it funny, some may not, that's how jokes work
if they say stupid thing while other thing happens 10 times in a row, the jokes long past its expiration date
One cake is good, but you'd throw up if you ate 99 more
TL;DR: the game makes the same jokes so many times they stop being funny
@@IHateCopperGolems Almost like how Rick and Morty is just like the same 10 jokes told slightly differently for ... what is it up to, seven seasons now?
“I hope you get a world record” is the sentence that lead high on life to be the only game to not roast you for speedrunning the game
Not even just this route, I was running through the story and it said the same thing lol
I like how the game acknowledged the things you are doing or done.
Devs put so much love into this game!! Really appreciate it!!!!
Majority of this games time was definitely spent on the voice acting and scripts and what not, but even with the games choppy movements and animations the pure love and effort put into everything else just makes me forget about it. This game is great, we need more games that can just have a laugh and not be so serious
well to be fasir it was made by the creator or rick and morty so its going to be much more dialog and joke heavy than good gamplay
the bad guys getting skipped sounds hilarious. the level of work with voice acting put into anticipating what speedrunners will need to do to skip portions is next level.
honestly it would make watching a speedrun of this game worthwhile. its literally the memes of speedrunning in an actual game.
Thats honestly so adorable and so cool
This game has been in my feed and I love it! The devs definitely put a lot of work into it and I love the humor :)
What game is it
Best part of this game was the warped in island/road where those two aliens are just roasting and cursing each other out. Literally put my controller down and just listened and laughed 😅🤣
Even gunbug gave the player a side eye after the speedrunning comment. Lol.😂
That part with the dock really reminds me of Jak 2. A wave of nostalgia.
I love the tone it takes, that playful "I see what you're doing there 😉" kind of tone. "You trying to speedrun? Hell yeah, my guy. Go set some records!😁"
Yep?
Had so much fun playing this game
Meanwhile, Jedi Survivor: Speedrunning? We don't do that here.
What an awesome detail!!
The fact that the game think it's cool to Speedrun and even hope that you get a world record is so awesome
This game breaks the fourth wall in so many ways i love it 😂😂😂😂
This game came out of nowhere and surprised me. Wasn't disappointed for a second!
If I had to guess, there's event trigger bounds with IDs to go in order, but if you skip a few you get a chance to hear special voice lines. Super charming!
This is such a cute little detail that I personally think all games should have.
This game was so good that i didn't play any games for a few days just to enjoy the feeling
Haha
To their credit, they usually have collectables there, though not typically meant to be reached by complex means.
I love how they arent like "That's a bad thing" and they encourage you. Its kinda wholesome tbh
the way he talks are so smooth, I'm addicted to it and I love him so muchhh
yet another fine addition to my "algorithm strikes again" playlist
thats insane😂💯
Loved the game. I honestly think other games can take simple ideas from this game just to make theirs more enjoyable. Being able to talk to your weapon in POV was a great move and has been something I always wanted. Same with the humor
The lack of collectibles, a level system, crafting, and unneeded side missions was really nice, as well.

We so definitely need more games like this. But it would be more great if they were more heartfelt, story rich, and the like.
i also love how the knife tells you to do a any% knife only speedrun lol
I got that audio just because I thought that was the way you were supposed to get there 🤣
This game was awesome. Really creative, intense combat sequences akin to the newer Doom, where you’re able to create fun combos from different weapon effects on the fly.
At this point I’m convinced the game is sentient.
*[Monika wants to know your location]*
Down girl down
one moment you're shooting aliens with a talking gun, the next you're in an office building, and another you're talking to a sentient visual novel character
oh, and after that you're fighting a skeleton
honestly really wholesome
This game has so much detail it's insane
This game is not for everyone, but even if you dont like it you gotta admit - it has so much heart and character. Good to see these kind of games still exist.
