Idk why but seeing these two locomotives together brings tears to my eyes. It’s like two long lost siblings “talking” to each other in a way
bru 🥴🥴🥴
I know! It’s like they have there own emotions and everything!
Absolutely beautiful. I remember stories my late father told me about seeing and hearing beautiful steamers in southwest Pennsylvania back in the late '30's to the early '50's. This brought back those wonderful memories 🙂
This is pretty nostalgic. Reminds me of a time period I wasn't able to experience.
They need to make more steam engines. Just better, and more economical to run. But use a similar design to the trains of old. Don't ask me how they'd make these cheaper to run. I'm not an engineer.
MisterBurgerBeachball1225 most likely it would be oil
MisterBurgerBeachball1225 It’s impossible to make steam economical now. Far too many moving parts and staff required to keep it running, for not a whole lot in return compared to a modern diesel.
THE best railroad video I have ever watched. That was a very professionally done charter and photo shoot, without leaving out even the smallest detail. The opening sequence that takes place at dawn, along with the silhouette at sunset are the most beautiful scenes of railroading I have ever seen.
As an old guy that, as a kid running steam engines - Father was a railroad telegrapher - thoroughly enjoyed the nostalgic feelings you brought me. Now, being a film and video producer, I must compliment you on the great story construction and the expertise that you put into this production. Thanks so much
These two identical engines were on my great Granddaddy’s railroad during the Collis P. Huntington Chapter in 91’.
If the 1225 was part of the New River Trips to give the 765 a break. That would’ve been something fun to see.
Unbelievable!!! I have been chasing the 765 with my dad (Doug Brown) since the 80's and I love that she is back out on the rails. The 1225 is also one of my favorites and these sites are simply amazing... Brings back memories of 1218 and 611 running side by side long ago. Yes make a full DVD!!!
Very nice with doubleheader Berkshires I like the #1225 and #765 thank you so much
Love that pan shot at 4:02. Stunning roll-by's and top notch video!
4:02
Doesn't get any better!! The setting is so appropriate...the great Mid West, corn fields, the sky. Outstanding!!
man, what an awesome event! Truly astounding video. Maybe we'll get to see this again now that #1225 is back up and running!
Imagine this, it's 2010, you're a farmer working in the field next to railroad tracks, it's another busy day working in the summer and night is falling, then 2 massive beasts passing by you blaring their chime whistle, with a load of outdated freight, you remember them as a kid working with your father on the farm.
If you're sick of other "Choo-Choo" train videos and need a quick fix of " REAL STEAM LOCOMOTIVES doing their jobs, like back in the day"...you've found it! Simply excellent and beyond compare !!!
LOVE the 765. Too bad I'm from Pennsylvania, a few states away, still, it's on my railfan list
Did you miss the 765 in Altoona and Allentown during the NS 21st Century Steam program? Unfortunately, NS has stopped hosting excursions. I live near Allentown and I rode the 765 Horseshoe Curve excursion from Lewistown and the Lehigh Gorge excursion which boarded near Bethlehem, PA.
@@robkrasinski6217 let me guess it was that Amtrak policy that shut down THE programs
765 passes through Jim Thorpe now
I’m in Pittsburgh and I just went to Akron for steam in the valley
Well do you like the 1 2 2 5
When I was a kid I used to hang around the local railroad station. When the steam era ended I had no idea what we were losing, but I sure know now. Terrific video.
Fantastic video! Those two great ladies have heart and soul!
Oh wow that is magnificent scenery up there.
Both locos have very nice sounding whistles especially 765
Cough Cough 6:30
1225 has a better whistle in this video
Beautiful, no doubt about it. Congrats to those who put it together!
Fantastic, what a trip back in time. Thanks
Stunning!
One of the best rail videos I've seen as well..
Thank you!
great vid! love these two locomotives, love the sound of the two sitting at the end there blowing steam and all :)
Simply beautiful.

A marvelous, breathtaking video. The nighttime captures were really something else.
Just an awsome video !!
I saw these 2 magnificent gal's at Train Fest 2009 in Owosso, MI last July. Nothing like standing next to a living breathe beast !!
This is just a jaw dropping level of video.. Utterly amazing
This is absolutely incredible.
Magnificent! Its like a time machine/window to 1950. Very well done.
1944 actually because these are WWII era locomotives
Cool to see both Locomotives with the 2nd Whistles on, i love the sweat reading 6 chime for the second whistle on 765, and the 611 3 chime on 1225
@ Thomas Rivette - Yes, this is true. I allowed them to use any of my footage that they pleased; if you look in the credits of Train Festival, I'm credited.
Awesome video.. thanks for posting!!
wow, this in just incredible! Spectacular catches of these two gorgeous Berkshires, excellent content, and just awesome!
Magnificent!! Two of the finest examples of the Van Swearingen Berks.
Very impressive to observe two "Berkshire" type locomotives double heading together on the same train, I always enjoy seeing footage of steam locomotives in operation. These operations scenes are repeats of railroad action during the 1940s-50s timespan, steam locomotives are interesting because there aren't many left in operation any longer and this reflects railroading operation from 65+ years ago.
Very much looking forward to being able to buy a DVD so that we can see your beautiful films on our big screen (and our 2 yr old will be ecstatic!)
This seriously has to be the BEST steam train video I have seen on CZcams !!!!!!!!!!!
This looks like something out of a MOVIE!! INCREDIB:E!!
@ 5:31 Absolute beauty. Couldn't get any more nostalgic than that.
Extremely well done, one of the best steam videos I have found on youtube!
Awesome video! I'm from Berkshire County MA, the county the Berkshire type is named after. I think it would be cool if these engines would make an excursion to the Berkshires where it first held its famous trials for the Boston and Albany railroad. My great great grandfather and his brother worked for the Boston and Albany, If I remember correctly my great great grandfather as an engineer and his brother a conductor, so some of the railroad yore is still passed down in family stories
What is so addicting about the sound of a chuffing steam locomotive?! I can't get over that beautiful noise of a chugging steel steam giant! :)
My 20 month old son now has a passion for the e"chugga", thank you for the videos.
This is absolutely amazing footage. Thank you so very much for your hard work. Well done!
Those are some Beautiful Breakshires!
First Rate Production!!! Just epic!
WOW, your work is amazing!!!
My two year old son and I have been watching this, he thought it was amazing and so did I. Real hairs-standing-on-end good, and I've never even been to the US!
If you could go back in time with an HD video camera and film the days that steam trains ruled the rails. It would look like this video. GREAT JOB!!!!
Wonderful! Beautifully staged - I could step back in time :)
when it comes to steam locomotives, Lima was one hell of a builder, these things were true powerhouses on wheels
You're videos always amaze me!
absolutly outstanding!!!
Bravo. Magnificent realization with magnificent landscapes. Congratulations. 5*
I bet anyone living in aroostook county me.
could have seen this any day of the week in 1950 a couple of nice steam engine's
a vintage John Deere and a late 40's early 50's chevy truck and a wonderfull
view from a hay field what else is there to see!
GREAT VIDEO!. GREAT SENERY!
takes me back to a time before i was born
Super video. Thanks for making my night!!
That was spectacular!...gotta hand it to you guy's in the USA!
This is such a great video!!!! What are the "Exact" dates of these? Now, the only "Recommendation" I have is to show the entire steam freight train pass! The "Setting Sun" would have been great to do then-as the "Graffiti" can't be seen!
I may cry now.... I wish I was born in the States back in the 50's....
Wow dude. I couldnt be there. But i felt like i was now. Great stuff. Joe you should really dvd some of this stuff up.
2 Berkshires and a two-banger John Deere, doesn't get any better than that!
Now thats epic!
Wonderful video. Wish my father could see this, he would have loved it.
Totally awesome!
@railfan95
Absolutely! Feel free to post wherever you like.
Very well planned and executed. Brilliant work with camera completes it. Thanks very much.
Alan
Best video I have seen of this event. Well done.
that was awesome!!!
Joe, very impressive video, all i haft to say is WOW you out did your self and keep them coming!
That is Sick......Awesome job!
Beautiful photography. Can someone elaborate why whistles are blown so long and often in the US? Here in Aust, they usually give one or two fairly quick blasts on approach to a level crossing and that's it. I assume there is some regulatory requirement over there relating to the operation of train whistles, or do the drivers just like to "let off a bit of steam"?
Very well done video.. I wish The Owl was around to watch it with us. He would have been proud.
Brilliant, loved it.....
Amazing!
Awesome filming and editing! Makes up for a lot of the drivel on You Tube!
The most powerful steam locomotives NKP765 and PM1225 performed special doubleheader photo freight from dawn to dusk around Owasso, Michigan, USA
Thanks - It is great to see freight steam video instead of passenger.
Just awesome!
Awesome 2 Berkshire cousins recreating life from the fast freight era!
Much Epic. Thanks.
Pure Epic!
This is a great video, my compliments to the editor. American steam is at the top of the ladder and a real spectacle to watch. Just one comment though, I have driven freight and passenger trains in Australia for nearly 30 years and am now a senior accident investigator with the ATSB (roughly equivalent to your NTSB) and I have never heard so much unnecessary whistling. No other country in the world (save possibly Canada) uses the whistle so much. Anyway, it's still a great video.
Beautiful beasts.
This is amazing
awesome video work on this.
I would really like to recreate something similar to this here in Upstate New York along the Southern Tier Line between Corning and Meadville, Pa. I love that sound!
Thomas Flansburg The 765 just ran the Southern Tier line with an excursion train from Buffalo to Corning and back last Saturday and Sunday.... it was wonderful.
11jimcleveland I got to see it and am working on a video as we speak. However a steam double-header has few substitutes.
Superb !
Awsome.. they just command respect... beautiful and powerful.
Nice work!
incredible!
@PereMarquette1223 Yes the whistle currently on 1225 is on loan from N&W 611. Confirmed by a friend who is currently working on the boiler rebuild. Perhaps it's operating at a different pressure or other variables. I have no information about NKP 765.
The Pere Marquette was the C&O’s subsidiary. I received an email of the new items. The new item I looked was, the map of the C&O, PM, and NKP. It was very much a part of the system that I concur with.
God, it's like a step back in time. Nothing looks out of place.
great video !!
I wuz in Owwazo and was told that 1225 was'nt feeling
well enough...seems OK now...good to know
I'd certainly buy a full lenth copy! How long would the full version be just out of curiosity?I know I already said this, but just an absolutely spectacular video. It's just breath taking! I could just watch it over and over again!
WOW!! Absolutely beautiful video. Please let us know if and when the full version will be on sale.
This is so cool
6:30-6:32 ever wondered the origin of the N3V Games' 1225 whistle in trainz simulator?
Michigan Rail Productions that is the sound they used. Not that good.
Yeah I agree
Michigan Rail Productions ikr.
MPT 765 WHY DO I ALWAYS FIND YOU IN EVERY TRAIN VIDEO I WATCH!?
Union Pacific 4019 Productions idk lol
Spectacular.
Why this video has 4 dislikes is beyond me, great job Joe!
WOW i feel like just have time travel back in time
