    Nicely constructed video and very helpful. I received a Shark Genius for Christmas and am very pleased with it. Our home is mostly hardwood and tile, and the Genius cleans efficiently, effectively, and without residue as with our previous microfiber manual mop and cleaner. The steam selector allows me to use low steam for hardwood and high levels for tile, and the quick release mop pad is literally a genius invention that saves time and my old back from bending over to change the pad. I do use the steam blast function to sanitize the floor and drain in our walk-in tile shower. I highly recommend it for those with multiple types of flooring in their homes.

    I owned the Shark S3501 for 3 years and used it regularly. It did an amazing job at mopping but I would like to add something that might save anyone purchasing some trouble. In the long run the small hoses that provide steam to the mop head will begin to leak and the mop will start dripping water all over your floor as you mop. Also, the cleaning pad although not as easy to put on and take off did a great job until after a number of uses will start to slip off. The steam will begin to wear out the velcro tabs and they will become useless in securing the pad onto the mop head. It became very annoying when trying to mop and you constantly trying to re attach the pad. This happened to all our pads (6) in normal rotation in a 1200sqft space. If not for these issues I would purchase again. We will be trying the Shark Genius next. The pad attachment seems to be a direct fix to the previous model and only time will tell if it will begin to leak or not. Truthfully the pad slipping off is enough of a reason to spend a little more for a better engineered model. That being said, I cannot speak on the Shark Genius but will soon find out. Hope this helps anyone still unsure in their decision.

    Subscribed after watching just 1 video. You know exactly what to say in terms of what we want to know. Covered every point thoroughly, you kept in mind to refer to them as the cheaper or expensive one and also their actual name. Summed it up very well AND kept it all very simple. Just amazing. I would really like a general steam mop comparison, especially ones that can be used with the attachments by hand (similar to the Lift Away Pro here) and also whether you think a steam mop or one of the floor washers, like the crosswave for example, are better. Thanks, as stated several times here, your reviews and comparisons are simply the best

    Crazy that they changed the tank to be a premium feature. I had 2 when they first came out and the tank was removable to do other tasks, what they're calling" lift away" for a hundred bucks. They also only lasted a year so... there's that. But I love the new feature of the mop head folding out, that's much more sanitary

  • @inTruthbyGrace
    @inTruthbyGrace Před 4 lety +4

    I agree on both your choices.. it is a lot of fun to clean with steam, they are GREAT for stainless, granite and quartz...I do NOT recommend using ANY steam on real finished wood bc it tends to exacerbate any scuffing on the finish and it will make those scuffs more visible by getting water under that surface. I've used both units, but the white one opens up a world of use: the thrust of the little nozzle attachment offers crevice cleaning on a whole new level.. it even makes ease of bigger projects with grease like viking stoves and tough grout lines

I wanted to gift one to someone who has a lot of wooden floor space, and, thanks to you, I see that they are all great products, so any one I decide on will be great. However, I do like the fact that the Lift Away Pro has a flip, two-sided mop head, which means you can get twice the cleaning done without having to stop and replace it. And, the accessories are very nice, too! Again, thank you for posting!

    I am so happy he reviewed Shark steam mops. Ive been on the fence about buying one. Ive owned two Shark vacuum cleaners and a hand held for cleaning my vehicle. The only reason I have two vacuums is because Ive downsized my living space and decided a Rocket was the way to go. There is nothing wrong with it but Im short and the Rocket is pretty tall so its a little awkward, but it still works great. My other Shark vacuum needs some maintenance. First time since I purchased it in 2012, so I think its safe to say, "Pretty good track record!"
    So now, Im off to buy a Shark steam mop!

      I don’t think thats happening any time soon, my Dyson V11 has a massive battery and can only output about 600w for 8 minutes. I guess they could do a kettle style version where they heat a lump of metal up to 300C or so then use that stored energy so you can unplug and mop away but not sure people would understand so could be difficult getting buy in.

    • @AMalas
      @AMalas Před 4 lety +3

      I can't see why it cant be cordless. They hold like 300 ml of water. All you would need is to plug it in for a minute just while a secondary heater gets the water up to 95 C and then battery power is more than enough

    • @andylane7142
      @andylane7142 Před 4 lety +3

      Anas Malas Hi, LOLOLOL Great idea... I am genuinely laughing because I had a similar idea years ago but then found out how much energy it takes to get water through the phase change to gas. I didn’t realise this either and its kind of crazy when you first think about it but then it makes perfect sense. It takes a similar amount of energy to phase change from ice to water i.e. 0C - 2C as it takes to get water from 2C - 70C. Its the phase changes that take most of the energy. When I said its obvious when someone points it out to you, think about it, if all you had to do was heat the water from 99C - 100C to turn water to steam your kettle would boil instantly and explode about 10 seconds after you hit the power button. What actually happens though is you put 3KW into the kettle constantly and only get a tiny amount of steam coming out the spout, I don’t know exactly how long but it would probably take about 20 minutes of 3KW to get all that water from 99C - 100C and through the phase change. If I haven’t explained that well, let me know and I’ll try and do a better job. Keep thinking of ideas though, I haven’t had my big one yet but maybe I will one day. Actually I did have a good one about 15 years ago when hair straighteners became a massive thing and that was to use super heated steam to deliver energy into the shaft of the hair as steam conducts heat far more efficiently and touches a greater surface area you’d be able to straighten the hair with less total heat energy meaning you’d damage it less but get a better result... Anyway a couple of years ago my partner said you know that hair streightener thing you were on about years ago.... well its been released and its called steam pod or something similar. Anyway she bought one and its amazing... the best thing she ever bought blah blah blah. I was genuinely upset that I hadn’t done anything with my idea especially when I saw the crappy job L’oreeal had done with designing the product around the basic idea.

  • @AlexPetrov108
    @AlexPetrov108 Před 2 lety

    Great as usual, thank you! But I just can't figure out if the lack of the vacuum feature in a steam mop is a deal-breaker or not. I don't care if the mop can handle hard stains or germs that much but I do care if it collects all the debris and hair on itself and doesn't drop them off the next time you pull it back or in other direction. What I see from the reviews is that a steam mop is just that same mop that drives me nuts but more sterile one so I wonder if you can clean the entire room or house, keeping all the debris on the mop itself and not scattering them around (ceramic tiles) all the time. I doubt it though because if all this stuff doesn't get sucked into the vacuum and stay on the working surface, how much can it hold until it eventually starts falling off... I'd better clean the floor cleaner once after the job is done or even use its auto-cleaning function rather than pulling the cloth off the mop every time it can't hold the hair and dirt, washing it in a bucket of water and putting it back on, you know what I mean. SO - Steam mop vs Floor cleaner (wet vacuum)??

    They need to double or triple the length of the mop for covering wider floor spaces quicker.

    Hi Chris! Would you be doing a 2021 edition anytime soon? 😊 I would love to see an updated version, especially if there's a comparison for cordless steam mops. I'm hoping they come with multi-purpose attachments and extension hose so that they can be used for kitchen/spot cleaning. Thank you very much! 😊

    I have the purple Shark steam mop, great product, but he warned the metal on the pole get extremely hot when in use and even for a while after, and I once burned my hand after I had gotten done using it and was trying to wrap the cord up.

    I had the purple one and adored it, gave it to my dad and then got the turquoise one and I hate it sooooo much. The pumping action to get steam out is way to difficult and annoys me with how much effort it requires. I'll be buying the lift away mop soon and donating the current one I have.

    I have the Shark click and flip S6003 which is absolutely totally brilliant other than one major problem. I have to use de-ionised water or else my steam mop will die from calcium deposites on the element within 3 months mopping 3 times a week. They either need to use a muuuuch larger heat exchange so it takes much longer to foul or make the element accessible so it can be cleaned.

      @@VacuumWars , Vacumm wars,
      I have had the shark genius for a few years i dont use it often, im not sure why. I just bought the bissel powerfresh with spot boost to scrub my kitchen grout. One reason is because the shark doesnt sanitize the floor unless you heat it for 30 seconds, then use it for 3 total minuets. And then its ready to use to sanitize in which you must make either 10 or 15 passes on the same spot for the spot to be sanitized.
      The bissel says to sanitize you heat the machine for at least 30 seconds, then make 3 slow passes on the same spot.
      The bissel stands up by itself. But the quality of the plastic used feels so cheap compared to the shark. I also like the shark has the double sided pad you dont have to touch. Also the fill cup that attaches to the steam cleaner falls off on the bissel but stays on, on the shark. I havent tested the temperature between the two yet. Plus the bissel has the grout scrubber on the model i bought 1806. And seems to work pretty good.

    I have the Shark S1000 steam mop and I LOVE it. The only thing is I have never found any replacement mop pads anywhere so the two I have better last forever. 😅 Also even though the water tank is pretty small, I’ve never ran out of water while mopping.
