Nobody can have my memories of Arthur Lee & Love... My favorite neighbors in Laurel Canyon... 1967... what a blast we had...

@Jeffrey Lear - neighbours when they resided at The Castle? Wow! The home to so many musicians passing through LA during LOVE residing there! Fun times indeed! Before/just as the hard drugs had reared themselves. The band was hungry.

I've been performing since the 60's and never heard of Love. And only now when someone did a reaction utube of Rush Doing Seven and a seven is, I didn't even know who did the song, until today. I looked it up.

One of the best most underrated bands to come out of the 1960's was Love and my favorite Love album was Forever Changes. In my opinion of all the albums released in 1967 The Beatles Sgt. Pepper was good but Love's Forever Changes was a masterpiece! Only other 1967 album that I hold in such a high regard is Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Love was talented to the nth power and had they left the LA circuit and toured nation and worldwide by 1967 they would've made The Beatles look like an "old hat" band!

Um, no, they wouldn't have lol. Love would never have hit it big like The Beatles. Love's my second favourite band ever, but to believe that is just delusional. Love was doing acoustic songs in '67, while The Beatles were paving the way with psychedelia and constantly innovating technically and musically. The Beatles were always fresh, but impossible to resists. Love simply doesn't have the wide appeal of The Beatles. Not even close. That doesn't make them inferior, that's just how it is.

Afraid I'm gonna have to 2nd This Bird Has Flown's emotion. The Beatles were, and remain, a cultural phenomenon that Love, much as I love them, could never match. Was Arthur Lee every bit the creative equal of Lennon, McCartney or Harrison, though? I say yes, very much so. Ain't nothing like "7 and 7 Is" or "Stephanie Knows Who", or my all-time favorite Love tune, "A House is Not a Motel", in the Fab Four's catalogue.

I'm with you on "Forever Changes" and "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", as for 1967 albums "5000 spirits or the Layers of the Onion" needs to be on that list too.

@@hooragood Think you might want also want to add
Jimi Hendrix Experience "Are You Experienced"
Jimi Hendrix Experience "Axis: Bold as Love"
      The Kinks "Something Else"
      Buffalo Springfield Again
      The Who Sell Out
      The Byrds "Younger Than Yesterday"
Aretha Franklin "I Never Loved a Man the Way I Loved You"
Jefferson Airplane "After Bathing at Baxter's"
      Jefferson Airplane "Surrealistic Pillow"
      Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour"
      Kaleidoscope "Side Trips"
      The Velvet Underground and Nico

@@nickwebb8197 For sure Velvet Underground & Jimi's 1st album should be on that list... but as much as i love the songs waterloo sunset, egyptian gardens, white rabbit, for what it's worth, have you seen her face (which got Clarence out of the bluegrass corner).. you must agree that one or two good songs and a lot of filler doesn't make it to the "best album" list.

Creatively one of the best groups ever, era notwithstanding. That said, definitely the worst-managed group in the era. It took until the Seventies for Arthur (so-called "Love") to tour, and he was more spaced out every time we saw him. A wasted career saved only by his final tours which resuscitated his legend.
