    Every ordeal has its own gimmick. The reason why everybody panic in green dawn ordeal is because when the robot kill a clerk or agent, it will do overkill stab animation and deal white area damage to everybody near it. And for crimson dawn ordeal, when the clown died, it will explode and deal red area damage to everybody near it. It will not directly attack you, it will teleport, drain PE box and reduce qliphoth counter and make abnormalities escape. Similar with the violet dawn ordeal, if you leave it too long, it will self destruct, deal white damage and reduce all qliphoth counter to 0 for all abnormalities in that department

    • @ForemanPlaysStuff

      Man, Ordeals are wild, I had no idea there was that much nuance to them. So you really want to counter them with Agent's equipped with suits that resist their specific damage, plus some fortitude to tank the damage. I'll keep this in mind cuz I can't afford to regularly take casualties like I did here.

    • @omnifei
      @omnifei Před 2 lety +32

      Yup, you can create your "Killer squad" (preferably high HP or high resist to that damage) and put everybody else in the safe corner. You can also juke the attack (click other room so that the agent move to that room before the attack)

    It's nice to see more people play this game. Having finished the game myself, I will say the game is difficult, but it eases you into it.
    I'll provide some general tips here.
    The 'Common's and 'High's listed in the Managerial Guidelines correspond to the level of work being performed on them. Those with Level 1 Fort will perform Level 1 Instinct, and Level 5 Fort will perform Level 5 Instinct. This essentially sets a work's base rate, which is then increased based on an Agent's Temperance.
    Commons cover 40-60% base rate, Highs cover 60-80, Lows cover 20-40, and Very Lows and Very Highs are self-explanatory.
    Occasionally, when clicking an Agent and selecting them to work, you'll see that some have 'High' and some have 'Very High'; the difference can be explained by differing amounts of Temperance.
    All four stats are important. Fort and Prud so your Agents don't die, Temp for ensuring high success rates, and Just for speed.
    Training can be done through LOB (highly inefficient) or through working. Each stat is trained through their corresponding work type.
    The more Positive Boxes gained, the more XP. However, other multipliers are also at play, the most important being the Damage Multiplier. This multiplier is (to my knowledge) never mentioned ingame.
    How this multiplier works, is that a multiplier is added based on how much an Agent has lost in HP/SP/both, when calculating for Fortitude, Prudence and Temperance. You know what they say, 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'. Fort tracks how much HP has been lost, Prud tracks how much SP has been lost, and Temp tracks both averaged.
    Let's take WellCheers as an example. The shrimp men like Instinct and Insight. While you may think that this means they train Fort and Prud well, the shrimp men deal Red Damage. This means that when training Prudence through Insight work, an Agent will be using the lowest multiplier (x0.4) possible all the time since they aren't losing SP. On the other hand, training Fortitude through Instinct work is better since the damage Agents take will cause them to potentially access higher multipliers through losing more HP.
    In essence, this means Red-dealers like WellCheers and Murderer are ideal for training Fortitude, White-dealers like Old Lady and One Sin are ideal for training Prudence, and Black-dealers like Void Dream can train Fortitude, Prudence or Temperance well. This all depends on whether they like the work they can train, of course.
    Justice, in addition to being three times more expensive to train via LOB, is twice as hard to train through working. Thankfully, it doesn't care about damage taken, so any Abnormality that responds well to Repression (of which you have none so far) can train Justice feasibly.
    Obviously, higher Risk Levels will give more XP than lower ones, too.
    While having 5 Agents per Department is fine now, eventually you'll need to switch to having 2 or 3. Training loads of Agents is quite difficult. In addition, later Departments will have higher-risk Abnormalities, so moving stronger Agents there will be ideal, while leaving weaker ones to train with weaker Abnos.
    Clerks, the non-Agents in your facility, are essentially useless. They grant minor buffs depending on how many of them are alive/sane, but are otherwise pretty irrelevant.
    Having Agents in a Department for extended periods of time gives them buffs too through 'Continued Service Benefits'. One Agent who has stayed in a Department for 7 Days is promoted to Captain and gains a not-insignificant bonus. Like Clerk benefits, you can view them in the Deployment menu.
    The Ordeals are suppressible entities that show up in your facility to cause chaos. They come in different Colours and at different times, with Dawn always emerging at the end of Meltdown Level 2.
    There are four kinds of Dawns:
    Green Dawns are the robots, tanky Red-dealing units that can pull off gruesome finishers, shocking any employees nearby with a barrage of White Damage.
    Violet Dawns are the spheres, even tankier entities that deal low Black Damage. Ignoring them for a full minute causes them to self-destruct, lowering the Qliphoth Counters of any Abnormality in their Department to 0.
    Crimson Dawns don't focus on attacking, but instead stealing Unique PE-Boxes and lowering Qliphoth Counters to cause all kinds of mischief. They explode when they die, dealing a fair chunk of Red Damage to those too close (as you've experienced).
    There is one other Dawn, Amber.
    Amber Dawns spawn in groups, but are weak individually and so like to gang up on solo Agents. Grouped and especially ranged Agents counter them nicely. They deal low Red Damage.
    Noon Ordeals start to show up by Day 11 (with one exception), Dusk Ordeals by 21 and the dreaded Midnight Ordeals (plus the last Noon one) by 26.
    The majority of Ordeals deal Red, so defences focusing on those will be important.
    Risk Levels can affect damage. Lower risk Levels deal less damage to those higher than them, and take extra damage, where higher Risk Levels deal more and take less to those lower than them. Defence does have an advantage against offence though, with defence not taking extra damage from those only one Risk Level higher than them. The exact stats for this are in the Manual.
    When taking damage they're weak to, Agents will be slowed. The aforementioned Amber Dawns can easily prey on and destroy Red-weak Agents.
    One last tip: abuse the pause function. It gives you infinite time to plan out whatever things you need to do and whatever actions you need to take, with zero repercussion.
    Hope this helps, and I'm eager to see more!

    @grapesonvines4407 Před 2 lety +46

    Alr, so, a couple of tips off the bat;
    You're gonna need to diversify your agent's stats. Arang is a perfect example of this. They have 5 Instinct, which makes them an absolute tank, but 1 in every other stat, which makes them suck at working with abnos, move slow as shit and go insane super easily. You can do this by making sure they're using different work types often.
    For the chart for work success, the numbers on the side are talking about the agent's level on that specific stat. If it says I - High, II- High for fortitude, that means agents with level 1 and 2 fortitude will have high work success.
    All work success is tied to temperance, so agents with high level of Fortitude aren't necessarily better at Instinct work.
    I'd recommend focusing on Fortitude and Prudence first as a new player, it gives you much more room for error when your employee's health and sp aren't 12-17. The game feels a lot less unfair if you're not getting one-shot by everyone and their mothers XD
    Also for the Abnormality story sections, you can really go about it in any way you'd like. Maybe have only the most interesting ones included in the video, maybe read them as soon as you get the highest observation level. It's really up to you.

    • @ForemanPlaysStuff
      @ForemanPlaysStuff  Před 2 lety +23

      I see, so having each agent focus on a specific stat isn't a great way to build them. They need to be more well-rounded and versatile. I'm glad you told me that because I would have definitely continued to have them specialize rather than spread out their skills.
      I knew the game wouldn't be simple but there's definitely a lot more to it than I initially expected, it's fascinating

    I like how you engage with the games rhetoric rather than just ignoring it. I get what you mean by preserving a worker might mean they will end up doing more work in the future, but as a counter argument it might just be easier to get a new employee. I think the game shows you how expendable they are by making them the cheapest they could possibly be (1 LOB). Its also not guaranteed that your newly saved worker would be mentally stable to do work again, seeing how prone people are to insanity within this universe. I don't think inanity is a weak point either since they did a good job of tying in the story dialogue with gameplay; an insane employee is a very common, but serious threat to everyone in their department. One insane employee that might be too fast to catch will eventually reap the morale of everyone around them, especially the suicidals.
    Also loving the vids, I appreciate a new content creator putting eyes on this game. I'm sure you get 50+ comments a vid thats 10 paragraphs long explaining how hard the game is, but I sincerely hope you'll push through. Library of Ruina is a much easier experience by comparison, though it still has quite a difficulty spike later in the game. Pretty much if you can get past Lobotomy Corp, you can get through anything. I also hope no ones been spoiling major game elements since I think the experience is good to go into blind your first time around.

      It's a fascinating game with a lot of interesting points and I enjoy thinking about and addressing them, I think enough work has been put in here that it deserves to be acknowledged and discussed.
      It really depends on the situation, preserving or sacrificing employees are both decisions you'll have to make and it requires a level of coldness from the player, though I appreciate the game still making you feel bad about it because these are literally human lives that you're playing with.
      It's been a great experience so far, I've been loving it. I'm looking forward to playing Ruina, it looks really cool. But i have to conquer this mountain first and I know I'm gonna have a great time doing it.

    I really like how much you look around for pointers in the UI and play around with your own guesses. The game might get difficult and even frustating to the point of exhaustion if many of those guesses keep failing, but thats part of the charm of this game.
    I imagine you might get vague (hopefully) pointers on what you could be doing wrong from the comments, since LobCorp fans really tend to want to help people trying out the game for the first time. So if you really want to fully try your own to guess how to handle something it will probably only happen during a single episode and then expect the comments to give answers to many things you deal with during that recorded day even those that you deal with without realizing.

    1:00:30 That’s not exactly what the game is going for. Yesod’s response if you agree with him gives a better explanation of his position.
    He’s not saying that speeches are bad because they’re inefficient, but because they wouldn’t be genuine. The manager and the sephirot are the people in charge ordering people to their potential deaths while themselves being safe in comfortable positions far away from any danger, while the employees are the people actually doing the Abnormality work and risking their lives. The former could not truly relate to the experiences of the latter. Thus, as Yesod thinks, giving such speeches would be motivated more about looking good to others and feeling good about yourself, rather than about actually doing good.
    Instead of making speeches he thinks would ultimately be insincere, Yesod thinks it would be better to just do the work to reduce casualties and improve the situation.

    • @ForemanPlaysStuff
      @ForemanPlaysStuff  Před 2 lety +4

      I see the logic, it's a more down-to-earth and logical approach
      Of course, the ideal solution would be to work on doing both. Reassure and encourage the employees whilst also doing the work to keep them alive, maybe a kind of lead-from-the-front sort of thing (that'd make a great game) but of course, that's not an option for us

  • @HateIsJustice
    @HateIsJustice Před 2 lety +12

    The 'Manager's Manual' is incredibly helpful with finding out how a lot of the mechanics of the game work, not al of them but most, so it's helpful to look upon whenever you're not sure about how something mechanically in the game works. Also the corpses, as far as you are, do not make your employees disturbed. A lot of people prefer letting others experience a game like this blindly, as learning is a large part of that experience, so they tend to divulge as little informative info as possible that's not provided naturally from the game. You're doing well, hopefully the capturing problems can be figured out as the game's coding is kind of unstable if left running for long strands of time, say several hours or so, so memory leaks are not too rare.
    Also, hearing your commentary on the story's would be interesting, perhaps reading them during the prep phrase of a day once you have an abnormality's whole story unlocked would be nice? I think it would be fine whether or not you'd like to share that in edit or simply enjoy them yourself off camera would be fine.

    • @ForemanPlaysStuff
      @ForemanPlaysStuff  Před 2 lety +5

      I should definitely make a point of fully reading the manual at some point, even if just to gain a foundation of knowledge to work from.
      Oh god, I bet there's gonna be an Abnormality or Ordeal that manipulates corpses, that's gonna be fun.
      I *think* I've found a solution for the capture issues, I fiddled with settings a bit more and I'm hopeful that I've got it covered now.
      I think I'll do some side videos to explore the Abnormality's stories, so we can focus on the main plot and struggles during this series, I really want to find out more about whatever the hell these things are.

      I understand your passion, I personally love difficult challenges in gaming, especially when they include deep and interesting lore and concepts, but maybe a more measured response would have been more appropriate?

      @@ForemanPlaysStuff just, seeing a lot of people, from next games, so hate the previous one's difficultys
      Just... saddened me, and somewhat angered
      Because iam too, a person whom loves a good old challenge

      @@0sikin094 I understand, it can be frustrating when a unique and interesting game is dismissed due to it's difficulty, especially when it has so much to offer. However I don't believe that person was honestly suggesting I give up, just that they wouldn't blame me if I did.
      What's done is done, I would just honestly recommend taking a moment to really look at what someone is saying before responding, especially if you're upset by it, sometimes we're a bit more sensitive when it comes to things we're passionate about.
      It's no big deal.

    The research to reduce fear damage for clerks is just for clerks in other words for the characters you don't control the ones you do are the employes everyone fall for that thinking they are getting reduce damage but that is not it
    also a lot of back stories of the abnormalities are really fun and good so if you want to read i think most people wouldn't mind you reading it so you could put it at the end of the day for abnormalities you have the full story
    anyway great work you are doing good keep it up

      That's a shame, but I guess it'd be a pretty powerful buff if it applied to the Agents.
      I'm definitely eager to check them out, I think I'll do little side videos and read them there so people can decide for themselves if it's something they want to listen to
      Thanks! The game is a real challenge but I *think* I can handle it

    You don't need to fill up the departments. A couple high level agents per department is better than a full department composed entirely of low level agents.

      Sadly, she won't be the last either
      It does lend itself to the gameplay mechanics. You take care of your agents, they gain experience and can deal with practically anything. It's better than having an army of cannon fodder that you had to recruit because you didn't care about your agents welfare
