Crazy Patchwork with a Difference | An Exhibition Quilt and Why I Made It

- Hello again my lovelies. I've noticed that my unusual crazy patchwork video has had over 30k views and I thought I should make a more straightforward video on how the technique works and just how versatile it is.
I made this quilt "Remembering Edie's Eiderdown" in 2017 and it was exhibited that year at the International Festival of Quilts. I thought you'd like to see it and hear the story behind it. I think crazy patchwork lends itself really well to memory quilts, and I think this quilt turned out well. I hope it inspires you to create your own crazy patchwork piece.
I hope you enjoy the video.

If you ever, and please donât, quit quilting, you can make a carear telling stories! For sure you have the soothing voice for it, and mostly important the good pace to tell it! Just loved this whole chapter, full of art and tales!
Lovely quilt and lovely story. Thanks for sharing
Itâs absolutely gorgeous. What a lovely idea and wonderfully designed and worked. So clever.
I love your program. Your stories are amazing. The photographs are gorgeous. I would love to live in England. Iâm half welsh, but living in America how cool!!!
thanks for the lovely anecdotes - it adds so much depth to your sewing .
I think that the quilt is beautiful and I love the story behind it. Some people can't see beyond their ideas of what they think a quilt shoild be there's a lot of quilts that were never quilted. Thank you for sharing with us.
New subscriber here! So, greetings from Chile đšđ±!!! Loved your work. Tyvm for sharing it!
Amazing video thank you
N/A on the color matching had me laughing! Maybe that judge was colorblind???đ€Ł
I love old eiderdowns, thereâs something very luxurious about them from a time when beds were covered with heavy woollen blankets, these added a sense of lightness and a dainty feminine touch. Your quilt is lovely and the story behind it is too. I could never submit a quilt as I would be deeply offended by any negative comments, a bit like the colour comments on your quilt.
After WW1 when so many young men were killed, it wasnât uncommon for two women to remain unmarried and to live together. Itâs funny but two ladies living together in a relationship was viewed quite differently to two men in the same situation. It was almost viewed that it couldnât possibly be a sexual relationship and was purely for companionship. Iâm glad your family loved and accepted them for who they were. So many people had to live a life hidden behind closed doors and hidden from their families.
Go slowly.... That is a KEY piece. Thanks for the reminder! And how lovely to have had such a special person in your life. I loved the stories. Thank you for sharing with us.
I love your quilt. These things are so much in the eye of the beholder. I see some wierd shaped modern quilts and think "what....." and then find they have won first prize.đ€
Very nice to hear someone speaking of their ancestors with such passion. Thank you for sharing your passion. đâ€ïžđ
