  • Hello again my lovelies. I've noticed that my unusual crazy patchwork video has had over 30k views and I thought I should make a more straightforward video on how the technique works and just how versatile it is.
I made this quilt "Remembering Edie's Eiderdown" in 2017 and it was exhibited that year at the International Festival of Quilts. I thought you'd like to see it and hear the story behind it. I think crazy patchwork lends itself really well to memory quilts, and I think this quilt turned out well. I hope it inspires you to create your own crazy patchwork piece.
I hope you enjoy the video.
    Eleanor 💚

If you ever, and please don’t, quit quilting, you can make a carear telling stories! For sure you have the soothing voice for it, and mostly important the good pace to tell it! Just loved this whole chapter, full of art and tales!

I think that the quilt is beautiful and I love the story behind it. Some people can't see beyond their ideas of what they think a quilt shoild be there's a lot of quilts that were never quilted. Thank you for sharing with us.

I love old eiderdowns, there’s something very luxurious about them from a time when beds were covered with heavy woollen blankets, these added a sense of lightness and a dainty feminine touch. Your quilt is lovely and the story behind it is too. I could never submit a quilt as I would be deeply offended by any negative comments, a bit like the colour comments on your quilt.
After WW1 when so many young men were killed, it wasn’t uncommon for two women to remain unmarried and to live together. It’s funny but two ladies living together in a relationship was viewed quite differently to two men in the same situation. It was almost viewed that it couldn’t possibly be a sexual relationship and was purely for companionship. I’m glad your family loved and accepted them for who they were. So many people had to live a life hidden behind closed doors and hidden from their families.

I love your quilt. These things are so much in the eye of the beholder. I see some wierd shaped modern quilts and think "what....." and then find they have won first prize.đŸ€”
