- Hills, LOS, Height Advantage, and a little bit on reverse slope defense. Starter Kit Example #2 from the rulebook. In an attempt to help out new and existing Starter Kit players I'm going to work through every example from the ASL Starter Kit rulebook.

This is an excellent idea for a series. I'm a born again ASL player from the 90's and I'm learn something with every episode. This is helping me get active again in ASL. Good job.
Cool, thanks! Hang in there, it will come back to you.
I thinking grasping the LOS rules is one of my weaknesses that I'm constantly trying to improve on.
Elevation can get tricky. We played a scenario awhile back that had level 3 hills covered with woods, and gullies, and buildings...it was a good test. Not sure if we passed.
A modified Reverse Slope Defense could include "skulking"...🤔
And stick people rule!
Indeed, though it's probably more doable in SK, with only Level 1 hills, than full ASL.
Here from part 1. Goes good with supper.
Part 3 going up later this week.
super cette progression didactique, vivement la suite merci beaucoup!
Thanks again Neal, great video. I found your explanation of when to give HA and when not to, using the crossed hex spine, to be really helpful. Keep it up!
Glad it helped
In the example at 5:00, where the US 5-3-6 goes up the crest and is fired upon by the Germans, because the Germans are tracing fire through a hexside at level 0, would the +1 Hindrance from the grain apply?
There'd be no +1 hindrance because the moving 5-3-6 is firing at the squad IN hex I7 as it crosses the crest line and goes up the hill, so it's at a higher elevation as soon as it enters I7.
So I might answer my own querston with a question, Why cant the SK rules explain this better like the ASL full rules B10.31 ? I find myself going to the EASLRB for better explanations to SK rules. Am I just lost , or am I mising the obvious ?
No, you're not alone. The SK rules are, what's the word I'm looking for...lacking. Some of the rules have been so simplified that context is lost. Some rules are so simplified that they sometimes become almost ambiguous.
@@ASLAcademy Thanks, not trying to make a wave but as an IT tech and tech writer etc for 27 + years , its challenging to follow the rules in SK to learn. I work full time and want to play the game so much but challenged with rules and distractions etc. I'll keep working on it with everyone's understanding and help and my work to learn. thanks .
@@abrickwo One you accept that you never stop learning ASL, you'll be fine. 😁
@@abrickwo Trust me, many people have complained about the SK rulebook and it's move away from "legalese" rules to more narrative/verbose rules.
