Kim Wilde's cover of Diana Ross & The Supremes became one of her biggest hits in America... Kim Wilde opened for Michael Jackson on his 'Bad' world tour in 1988. She had hits in Europe until 1990, and then her popularity fell by 1995, sadly... Her 1988 album 'Close' is one of the best pop records in my opinion... Songs like 'You came'... 'Never trust a stranger' ... 'Four letter word'... 'Hey Mister Heartache'... 🔥🔥
Other hits - 'Cambodia'... 'Water on glass' ... "Can't get enough of your love" 🔥🔥

I recommend The Touch, Rage to Love, Four Letter Word, Love Blonde, Janine, Blade Runner (based on the movie), Never Trust a Stranger, she did a cover of Born to be Wild that was fantastic. She also did a cover of if I Can't Have You (by the Bee Gees) from Saturday Night Fever that was fantastic! Also enjoyed Love is Holy. And she's beautiful! Greetings from London. A great version guys but don't forget Kim's Dad, Marty Wilde. Still touring and aged c.83. He is 1 of unique singers who recorded in 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's and 20's . Marty had hits in 50's and 60's mainly US covers. A lovely guy too.🎤

This was a cover of the song originally written by The Supremes in 1966. My actual favorite cover of this song was done a year later, in 1967, by a band called Vanilla Fudge. It's the psychedelic version. I think whether or not you react to it, you should definitely check it out (link below). Thank you for this reaction! 💙

Girl, I love you saying she's got a "really clean, super pleasant to listen to and you love the range she sings with". Then I implore to get hold of the single and play the utterly gorgeous Eastern-sounding ballad 'Loving You' to here how she embodies a song utterly differently. Her always crystalline delivery changes in balance and form and nature for whatever a song calls for. You need to know more than just these 2 obvious songs. There's nothing like 'House Of Salome' as a song, 'Child Come Away', 'She Hasn't Got Time For You' and 'Hit Him' (a brilliant up-yours to a man in a relationship)-both from the same album this is from, and so many more. Check out her WHOLE 80s oeuvre, you said you love woman of the 80s, then FIND OUT who she is. 'Kids' is just a start, for God's sake there's 6 years spanning these songs, and tonnes of differing songs and albums in between them. Come on, check out them all. You need to get to the following: though remember that some do not have vids sadly considering her treatment by her labels):
'HOUSE OF SALOME' from 1983's 3rd KW album, but a single in 1984 and simply BEST SONG IN THE WORLD if there is only ever one.
'CAMBODIA-REPRISE'-completely hints at an utterly unconventional, non-obvious direction for young woman singer.
'VIEW FROM A BRIDGE'-ultra catchy song about suicide! Take that all you other girls singers who think you're so wow!
'YOU CAME' (catchy, jingly conventional pop), 'NEVER TRUST A STRANGER' & 'CAN'T GET ENOUGH' (2 hard rockers), creepy 'CHILD COME AWAY', 'DREAM SEQUENCE and 'SHANGRI-LA'). Then there's jazz/swing sexy strut 'LOVE BLONDE', rockabilly 'RAGE TO LOVE',
sensual 'DANCING IN THE DARK' (NOT Springsteen), and lovely ballads 'FOUR LETTER WORD', CAN YOU HEAR IT' and 'STAY AWHILE'. And what about the totally ignored beautiful B-side to 'Hangin On', it's called 'Loving You' and check out the many differing instruments just utilised for this song NEVER to be a single. There's session players on this using instruments hardly ever used in pop singles, never mind B-sides. What they must have charged! Basically, you need to know about and feature MORE Kim Wilde. This is the worst of America. She's one of the few females worth bigging up over everything she does, yet that's instead used mainly for the overblown and utterly unworthy. There's no reason in a normal world the US shouldn't go for her, but then Americans have always been highly stuffy and xenophobic about what they like musically, plus if you're not prepared to spend your life over there and playing state after state, AND you refuse to do the attention-seeking, gimmick driven slut-angle favoured by madonna the vile and all the others in her fake image, then US don't want to know. I wonder why they bothered with this one! I guess Kim's so grand that even they had to bother with a few. Incidentally, ''Kids' is that rare thing-the most unspectacular thing she's ever done. It's simply OK with a chorus that doesn't do the build-up justice. Sounds more like a party tune rather than the proper music she always followed it with. And the US only know of that cos their flaming country's in the title. Still, it's lovely to hear her being enthused over here, but you'd do yourselves, and us, and her even prouder, if you dug a little deeper? How hard can it be in a world of Google and CZcams, and it's hard not to feel that the US just isn't bothered enough to even consider someone has a career beyond the few songs known to them, as mainly what happens in other countries music charts is clearly redundant to a State that for far too long thinks only whatever it happening on its own turf is of any merit. Oh dear. And to STILL be like this?! Oh well. Still, as you've put it out there, least you're open to hearing more Kim. Please do, after all, I'm sure you spent many minutes listening to many others and you DID say you love 80s women. Well, not only she is the best, she defines the decade, being there at the start and having 7...7! albums (and I'm including all the non-album singles and B-sides stockpiled as the 7th between '81 and '89) going all through the 80s, each providing an entirely new experience and sound, with nothing sounding alike, and songs very unlike what so-called obvious women tend to do. Even Eurythmics songs are frustratingly obvious and basic most of the time, and don't even get me started on thieving, bubblegum trash queen madonna!!
