I 100% used the cover girl skin tint as a primer. It's wonderful when used this way - didn't see anyone online suggesting this. Glad you brought it up.

I ended up purchasing shade 30 as well and I mix them for a perfect match. I didn’t try shade 20, as it looks quite yellow, and I have extremely cool toned skin. Even buying two bottles of the CG is way cheaper than a high end similar product. (I’m in Canada).
I use the cover girl essence foundation with elf halo glow powder and it lasts 8+ hours. It’s such a beautiful skin like tint. It’s my favorite right now.

Teachers need time in their classrooms to actually accomplish things they have no time to do on normal days. After missing out on so much time with my daughters as they grew up, because I was spending 24/7 on schoolwork, I no longer take my bag out of the car when I get home. Setting boundaries and priorities.

I have never used a foundation that embodies the saying, "your skin, but better" in the same way as this covergirl essence foundation. It is so odd, but makes my skin look so pretty. When in full sunlight, it does not look cakey or make-upey at all.
I just ordered a Rare Beauty blush. I’m all for saving $, but I believe in supporting the company’s mental health fund. To be honest, I’m on the fence about dupes - they feel like cheating and stealing intellectual property. I’m talking like the Elf mascara which even copies the packaging. But then maybe I’m making a nonexistent distinction between “inspired by” and “dupe”. Regardless, I appreciate and trust your honesty about your reviews :)
I’m glad I read your wear notes. I’ve been trying the covergirl essence the last few days and while it had looked great before. It looked kind of obvious and like it was just sitting on top of my nose today. I think it must’ve been the moisturizer I had on today because I put it on immediately before the covergirl versus the last few days where I had done my skincare a few hours before my makeup.
@jessicabraun…the thrive mascara is definitely great! They just came out with new colors too if you’re into that! I think their brown would look beautiful on you. I always used jet black and I’m blonde but changed to brown a few years back and it looks so much better on me. 😊
I absolutely love thrive cosmetics mascara and I used it for years until I found the dupe which is Milani mascara (green tube) it’s so much cheaper and is awesome!
I usually use a medium to full coverage foundation-and I really like the CG essence foundation, more coverage than I expected and a truly pretty effect
I know elf's new business model of "dupes" is controversial, but I actually appreciate the way they are unabashedly (great word btw!) duping products instead of trying to hide it AND giving us high-quality products at a much more affordable price point. I'm a SAHM with two neurodivergent boys and a budget! I know people are also mad that their prices have gone up too, but EVERYONE's prices of gone up! That Covergirl Essence is >$20 for goodness sake. I'm so happy that elf finally figured out mascara too! I've hated pretty much every mascara they've come out with until Lash n Roll and I'm so excited to try this new one!
As far as Elf and other companies duping, I think about it this way: I had a lawyer friend who worked inside a corporation that had the highest end cosmetics all the way to down to Walmart level. They told me that except for the packaging, the fragrances, and some other tweaks that don't affect efficacy, they had identical products at every price point on purpose because their customer who is going to buy a $1000 cream would never consider buying a cream in any universe from Walmart for $10. And the person buying the cream at Walmart for $10 is never going to be able to buy the $1000 cream. But they were basically the same creams, just targeted at different markets. It really made me think a bit about high end luxury products and the elements that you are paying for, mostly a luxury experience. As a retiree my budget is no longer luxury. I'll never buy the high-end product because I simply can't. So that company is never going to have my money for that higher end product in any universe. But if I can buy the same or similar product within my budget, for example Elf instead if Thrive, then Thrive is not losing my money because of Elf. Again, the people who are buying the high-end luxury version, a lot of them are not going to buy the dupe because they don't want to buy cheaper items across the board in their lives. So, I think there are different universes, and they can coexist and don't take away from each other.
But let me also add that I am completely against corporations stealing small indie brands products and mass producing them. That is a completely different animal than a big company duping another big company's high-end products.
Regarding the redness- have you been out in the cold wind lately without makeup on? I get windburn easily on my cheeks that looks and feels like you describe so easily! I put a little aquafor on it at bedtime and it clears right up

If you want to dupe the Chanel tint you can just mix your favorite foundation with the COSRX Snail 96 Power Essence. You will get the same sheer dewy look plus skin care benefits.

I think the cover girl one is supposed to be a dupe for chanel les beiges water-fresh tint. Which is just that, a tint. Think glossier, no significant coverage. Although some people are mistaken and think it’s a dupe for chanel les beiges water-fresh complexion touch, which has far more coverage (and is gorgeous).
If you want to make the Elf blush blend a little easier, dab the blush on your hand along with a dab of Lumi Glotion ( lighter shade) and mix with a brush
Love the new background! I would love to see you try the made by mitchel curve case, cream bronze and blushes, I bought it last week and it’s soooo glowy and pretty, a little goes a long way, but I’m newer to cream and not always sure the best way to apply.

*runs dark for fair people, I don't imagine dark and deep skin tones get much range at all from any of the brands I just mentioned.
