Inspired by a true movement, JESUS REVOLUTION tells the story of a young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) being raised by his struggling mother, Charlene (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) in the 1970s. Laurie and a sea of young people descend on sunny Southern California to redefine truth through all means of liberation. Everything changes when Laurie meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher, and Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer) who have thrown open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to a stream of wandering youth. I rode in on the JM wave. It was real. I was GLORIOUSLY born again autumn 1971. So that was going on 52 years ago and Yeshua (I have come to call Jesus by the Hebrew name His mother gave Him) is my EVERYthing. I cannot make it in this fallen world without Him.
I met Kelsey Grammer when I was an officer in Brooklyn. It was at the World Trade Center and he totally surprised me. Usually actors in his caliber are stand off ish in my experience. He is the warmest friendly person I’ve met. He signed my memo book and stated, “ I’ve always wanted the opportunity to sign a cop’s book.” It great to see he has the role of being a pastor cause he has the demeanor of one! Warm and friendly. My parents were 2 of those hippies in the tent, when the church started. Pastor Chuck dedicated me as a baby, in 1979 and my twin boys in 2007. He was a sweet, funny and loving man and a warrior for Christ.

I was there CCCM in 1972. Long haired barefooted punk kid!😄 What a movement it was!!! I gave my life to Christ in a tent when they were building the sanctuary. I can't explain the power of the spirit of God moving about back then! It was amazing! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it since. Hopefully it will happen again soon 🙏. We desperately need it! Come quickly Lord Jesus!!!

PLEASE tell me more. What was the power of the Holy Spirit like?? I have experienced God's presence for long periods of time. Everything had a dream like, super natural dimension. I found loving people super easy. And then it went away. Praying for the Spirit to return in power. Is the church ready?? So much division that perhaps only God can heal. Shalom.

@@wisedyes I left home in search of God 1970. The only way I know how to express what I experienced was this strong pull that was drawing me to find God. Many supernatural things happened....dreams that came true, people I met on the way that would tell me about Jesus...It was truly an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. What I have learned in over 50 years of walking with God is that you can't expect to live in a constant state of experience though. If you feel like you have lost something or the Spirit is gone you must realize that you need to deepen your walk of faith and that only happens through study of scripture. Those experiences that we have are wonderful but to truly know God you need to study His Word.

Me too…at 15. Years later, I discovered William James’: “Varieties of Religious Experience.” It describes the crucible of youth that lead to my first encounter with God. It was an awakening.

My wife and I got saved in the mid 80's, just after this movement. However, we were hippies traveling around Australia at the time and the small church we ended up in had a pastor who had previously lived on a commune and was saved as a result of the Jesus Movement a few years before, in New Zealand. So yes! Thank God for this movement with all its flaws and cooks. Jesus loves the outcasts, He seemed to dislike the religious perfectionists in His own time, but loved the down trodden and broken hearted. He still does! ❤
Praise God for those hippie seekers at that time. It reached right down here! To the ends of the earth. The spiritual ripples are still traveling along.

I was born again on the very end of the Jesus Movement. It was a movement of the Holy Spirit, bringing people to Jesus. Last year, I celebrated my 50th spiritual birthday, and the Lord is more precious to me now than he was 50 years ago!
Me too, I asked Christ to save me August 1980 while taking a shower. I tell people I got saved and baptized the same time.
I gave my life to Jesus there in 1979. Impossible to explain what a genuine awakening feels like. You couldn’t walk through the door without coming to Jesus. Changed my life forever 44 years ago. Pray this generation experiences something like that. God knows we need it!
I grew up in SoCal in the beach area of Redondo. I remember in high school seeing what we called “ the Jesus freaks” on the corners handing out cards to go to a church. My friend and I decided to go check it out only to run away hearing them speaking in tongues! Oh how I wish I had never ran from God! It took 18more yrs until I finally ran back! Ironically my husband called me a Jesus freak after I got saved and I couldn’t be happier! Thank you Jesus ❤️
My family's church in Wisconsin (Elmbrook - Stuart Briscoe) was birthed during the Jesus movement. They were the first church in the area to allow "Jesus freaks" to come in and worship. In fact, people thought the church was a cult because they were siphoning SO MANY people away from other area churches, because people were desperate for Jesus and the Truth! Subsequently, Elmbrook "birthed" numerous other churches, have sent missionaries all across the world, and if I may brag a bit, my own brother became the pastor of one of the branch churches, and now is a pastor back at Elmbrook, going full circle from where he began as a kid in Sunday school. The influence of Elmbrook in Wisconsin is far-reaching and absolutely amazing, and only God could have orchestrated it!

I was living in Billings Montana and the Jesus movement actually touched down there as well. We had bellbottoms braided our hair and made it frizzy, our hearts were primed and ready for Jesus and he walked right in. I’ve never been the same.😢❤😊 Now at 66 years old, I’m praying for another Jesus Revolution. The funny thing was that a number of years later we became pastors of a Vineyard which values the Word and the Spirit. Who would have thought?!

I was in the Jesus movement and it was up and down the west coast from Seattle/Tacoma area (People's church) to San Diego, CA. Mike McIntosh. I was forever changed in that for two reasons; the extraordinary movement of God. (2) They exclusively taught the Word of God which changes people's lives forever.
The part when Lonnie says, "If God can heal me, He can heal anyone!" That is the part where I lose it every time I watch this preview. I hope many people are able to read this powerful book before seeing the movie. I couldn't stop weeping and crying reading the book. It reminded me that despite my sinful past, God has truly forgiven me for EVERYTHING. It took almost 25 years for me to realize that God was searching for me too. I was running away from God because of a traumatic childhood. I left the LGBQT community after 25 years and surrendered to God completely. I'm grateful for all that was involved in this early movement because of Greg Laurie's Harvest Crusades, I was able to find salvation where I got saved. It led me to the Calvary Chapel where I attend currently too. The story is truly amazing, read the book!

I became Born Again in 1971 at Calvary Chapel. I have never looked back. I thank God for giving Pastor Chuck a heart for our lost generation.
I was born in 1970 to two hippies who were born again and healed of their drug addiction.
I remember as a 3 ro 4 year old boy, I felt God's love and presence in a powerful way. It was real.
I cried reading this. I have a very similar story. Born in 1973 and the Jesus movement changed my family through my 16 yr old hippie uncle who was born again to my mom and dad who gave their lives to God. They struggled with addiction too. I remember them reading the Bible and playing guitars and loving Jesus. Both of my parents had real faith and I felt it. They never pushed me, they were authentic and full of grace. Not churchy or preachy. I met Jesus at 18 after being so lost. My parents rejoiced and we always shared our faith and love. I know I’ll see them again. ❤

I am byproduct from the jesus movement. Was raised strict Jewish tii I was 7. After my parents divorce my mom who was Jewish but severely compromised started frying up the bacon and brought in the Christmas 🎄. I went to a Christian ✝️camp at 11 years old in 1973 never heard of jesus it was with azusa pacific counselors, I accepted jesus got a Bible came home and my mom said hell no not in this house 😳. Anyways although I walked away it stuck with me and I often asked God WHO IS THIS JESUS AND DO I NEED TO KNOW HIM? I was seriously concerned, I don't what those counselors told me lol. Well it wasn't until much devastation and a whole lot of anger at 23 I gave my life to Jesus. It hasn't been all rainbows and unicorns thats for sure,, but it's been the absolute best knowing the lord Jesus christ of Nazareth as my savior.. I pray many, many, many more will come to repentance and salvation before he returns ❤God we need you, aways constantly 🙏and so do many people who don't know you yet. Please move and bring in another true harvest of souls in Jesus name. Amen 🙏

I was fortunate to attend Calvary Chapel in Riverside California in the late 70´s as a college student and hear Greg Laurie speak and hear some amazing Christian Music bands as well. An experience that yielded memories I still hold dear.
Beautiful, I was baptized during this movement in 1972 in Pasadena, CA. It was ‘cool’ to walk around with your Bible and everyone truly embraced love God, Jesus and each other.
I was 15 when this started. I am nearly 67 now. This movement planted holy seeds that grew me into the holy ghost filled prayer warrior grandmother I am today. God can plant or use ANYONE.
I became an active Christian from the hippie movement in Portland, Oregon. So glad someone is doing this story!!
I was there in the 1980's and it was amazing. The Revolution may have began in the 1960's and became bigger in the 1970's but the 1980's Saturday Night Concerts at Calvary Costa Mesa with Randy Ziggler (a Lonnie Frisbey look-alike) was the absolute bomb! Hundreds of Kids every Saturday night made a decision for Christ and went to the back room to get a Bible. Me and my friends drove up from South Orange County every Saturday Night and it was the highlight of week for the kids at Dana Hills High School, San Clemente High School, and Capo Valley High School kids. Then we'd go to the McDonalds on McAurthur Blvd after the event and many of the band members showed up there as well, like 4-4-1 or Undercover and we'd chat with them but since it was a teenage social it often ended up in a food fight (Sorry McDonalds Employees). Those may have been the best years of my life. I wish it never ended.
Just watched the movie and reminded me of the day I first walked in Calvary, Costa Mesa in 1975 and I was blown away by the love. It was agape love, completely inspired by the Holy Spirit.
I was in Portland Oregon and got saved in Jan 1973. So many of us recognized we were in darkness and wanted to be transferred into God's light! I was struck by the praying... Actually talking to a real God.
I've served Christ for 50 years and so grateful He came into my life!

I met Pastor Chuck about 2010 and went down and worked on his house many times. He was a great example of humility and grace and much more. One of the sweetest people I have ever met. I was born in 1961 to parents of mixed faith. My mother took us to her church because my dad never attended. It made for a very confusing spiritual experience. I was 9 years old in 1970 and not even aware of existing in spiritual starvation. But the revolution that took place set me on the right path. It made me long to have that spiritual relationship with Jesus. I'd lived a hard life, had some terrible things happen and just didn't feel worthy. From 2005 to 2017, I cared for my mother who was suffering with COPD. Towards the end, she was also suffering from dementia as well. I knew her time was short. That is where my relationship with Jesus began. I look at the young people today, they're so angry and unhappy and so lacking in a real direction. We need this movie right now. If ever there was a generation that needed to know the love of Christ, to accept the plan He has for them and the promise of a life that is filled with love and pure joy--it is this generation. I pray daily for another revolution in His name to wash over the young people of our country.
My husbands mother grew up with Chuck Smith . Her mother was an Evangelist in the Assembly of God church the same church Chuck Smith went to. To see what God has done since then is amazing. To see how many churches that have sprung up through the church Chuck Smith started and are continually springing is mine boggling. I thank God there was a man that listened and followed his heart. My prayer is that this movie will spring up another revival because our nation needs one.

I came to Faith at the tail end of the Jesus Movement (1981 when I was 16). A huge impact was the outdoor "Jesus Festivals" they had each year in Florida. Three days of music, teaching, counseling...all amazing. Got my first taste of Christian rock music when a vendor turned me on to The Resurrection Band.
I was baptized there in a swimming pool.
More than 40 years have passed, and I'm still in love with JESUS!
I became a Christian at age 13 in Texas. That was 1973. Though I loved my home church, in addition, I began going to Jesus chapel every Friday night and it felt so much more personal and helping me with my relationship with Jesus.
We started a Bible study at lunch in the high school stadium stands.
I love the Maranatha music and groups like Love Song and 2nd Chapter of Acts also inspired me to grow in my love for Jesus. I'm now 62 and can't wait to see the movie but I've got to find the book first!

I lived through this time as well. I was serving as a youth pastor in Spokane, WA when all of this was happening. Nothing has impacted my life and ministry like the Jesus People movement. I can't wait for this movie to come out.
Spokane is the rarest of cities (I bet I have met you)...there was a minor move that I participated in in the early 90's...very short lived (very hidden).....not like what I saw in the 70's, but potent nonetheless....I met no nonsense saints (real power houses)....fast forward 10 -15 years and I went to see some again.....the false prophets were like cock roaches everywhere (really nasty fakes)....yet I still have hope for your city....when people go church clicky.....the real apostles and prophets go home (become silent)!

I moved to Spokane in '81 when it was a big "small town", all the stop lights flashed red after 11PM - no one on the streets at night. Then around '85 Cox Cable came to town and everything changed.... not for the better. I left in '88.
I remember it well. It lead me to read and study the Bible in addition to an assortment of books discussing my walk with God. This pursuit has become a lifelong study that has given me strength, hope, love, faith, and a fellowship with Christ. I hope this current generation can connect up the same way.
I can't say enough about this wonderful production. It is a story that we are all desperate to hear. You will not be disappointed with your choice to see this movie.

I'm apart of a fellowship called "Christian Fellowship Ministries" and it was started by Wayman Mitchell. He too opened up his small church in Prescott Arizona to the hippies who other churches weren't allowing in their buildings. He was actually black listed from the original fellowship he was in because he was welcoming those "unclean" people in his church. The Jesus people movement was an amazing time in our history and we desperately need another move of God in this nation. Praise God for these men who loved all people and gave them a place to worship.

Though I didn't get involved in the "hippie" movement, or the drug scene that surrounded it, the scent of Earth was surely different than it is now. Nearly joined some loving worldwide musical movements that went along with it. I'm surprised to find that they are STILL HERE AND GOING! That was "Up With People". I was too young for my parents to let me go, so I stayed behind and watched.
That has been called a "cult" many times, but in reality it is simply a positivity and moral changing atmosphere. Still there and moving strong ... if only more were positive. Culture has been on a nose dive for a long time and needs to see the positivity NOW!

I was very young (10-11 years old) when I have a dim memory of young "hippies" I knew as friends in my white, suburban neighborhood growing up. I look forward to watching this movie and I hope you'll join me, my friend.
I was on the east coast and my church on the Mississippi Gulf Coast was impacted by the revival at Asbury College. If you ask me, from late 69 and early 70s the entire nation was impacted by several outpourings that were marked by confession, repentance, and love. When it hit me and my youth group, we all felt like Peter when Jesus approached him, "Leave me because I'm a sinner...t" the same thing when anyone gets in the presence of a thrice holy God...saint and sinner alike. And FYI...It started again at Asbury University. 53 years and six days after the original outpouring in 1970.
I am so happy for that school. Each generation needs to experience a move of God.
I got saved in the Fall of 1971, after reading "The Late Great Planet Earth". I appreciate the Blood of Christ!!

It is coming out this month ! wow I thought it was next year I'm going to see it. I am born again child of God, but i missed the first revolution i was 16 and i was not raised in a Christian home and I thought they were just hippies and flower children, but I know God is moving in these young people's lives I have been asking God to let it begin and He heard me and I know others have as well, this is the last Harvest it's time ,Praise the LORD
I can't say that I was there on those days. I wasn't even born yet for much of what happened, but at a concert put on by CC in Paradise CA, I accepted Jesus into my life, and that began a slow process of learning more about Him and wanting to live life as an example to the world. Calvary Chapel has been a huge help to me along the way and my wife and I have grown fond of all the great teaching from pastors who have followed Chuck's example of expository teaching.
I can't think of another church where I would have come to know the grace through faith, and the call to live for Christ than what I've gotten out of Calvary Chapel these 3 years.
Oh my gosh I am so ready!! Lord willing we will be able to watch this movie I cannot wait. Let's continue to pray for another Jesus Revolution! We believe in the risen Christ 🙏 🙌
For the first time in at least a dozen years my wife and I went to a movie theater last year to see Elvis and Top Gun Maverick. Looks like that streak will continue in 2023.

Beautiful story and much needed movie at this time. I was saved at 16 and pastored by Raul Reis in Covina California. Spirit of God brought a door witness to my house and answered my request." If there is a God out there now would be a good time to show up." The Holy Spirit moved over and over again. There is such a hunger and thirsty harvest all around us. Thankyou for this movie.
There's a couple of folks in our church that were part of that movement. I love talking with them about their experiences. Living in the heart of rural Missouri, we only heard about it. Must have been an awesome thing have been part of.
Christians all over the world must rise up together and prove that JESUS is the only true God ...almighty ..all powerful..yet so loving and caring ...all you need is to feel his love😇😇😇😍😍🙏🙏🙏

I began listening to Greg Laurie on the radio in 1988 " A New Beginning" . It was his teaching that ripped a whole in my fractured views on the Bible - namely the faith movement. So very thankful that I came out of that mess. Praise the LORD! Then I found The Word For Today with Papa Chuck! So much fruit came from that church! There's a book called "Harvest" that tells about the Calvary's that were started, including Greg! God is still changing lives! 😇🥰

I wasn't saved till 1985 but in 2000 I had a dream where I felt God told me to go to calvary chapel knew nothing about this story but have been listening to pastor Chuck since and boy have I grown spiritually

Please go see this movie. I went with my mom, who is a Christian as I am. Now, I want to see it with my husband and teenage children, praying the Holy Spirit will convict their hearts to know how much the Lord loves them and how much they need the Lord in their life.🙏🏻
This movement of the Holy Spirit came to our little town drew me out of a path of drugs that I started at the age of 11 by 16 God was drawing me out and I remember Bible studies in party vans and worship meetings in off grid log cabins deep in the woods! But most importantly the Holy Spirit was moving in a mighty way! I got baptized in a creek out in the woods and it took me 20 years to link my experience with Jesus to its humble beginnings in Southern California at Costa Mesa. God started a revival in the 60s and the effects of that movement has been growing fruit to this day! My life was changed my wife was changed, my kids are changed and now my grandkids are changed! Fruit from above, all we need to do is accept Jesus by faith as our savior and stay connected to the vine!

I started my walk with Christ at Maranatha Chapel Yuba City CA with Chuck's nephew Bob Fromm. My prayer for all babies in Christ is that they would find a great home bible study group and be inspired (and taught really) by wonderful worship songs as Maranatha Music gave to me. It has not always been a straight path for me but I know my Savior lives in me today. So excited to see this story.

I strongly believe this movie about the birth of the Jesus Revolution of the 60's is just what is needed as a wonderful tool for the Holy Spirit to bring about the last and greatest revival of a generation that no longer knows up from down and right from wrong! Jesus is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE, and as the prophet Joel said, in the last days God would pour His Spirit out on all flesh!
