Up front, I'm a Goal Zero user for the last 5 years. I own the Yeti 1250 all the way to down the Flip 10. BUT, each of your products has noticeably decreased is storage life of reserve power, as well as drained reserve power faster, as the months and years progressed. My Yeti 1250 pulls your camps lights, a cell phone, and a small fridge draw at 62 watts (about 90 total watts)....and it will be drained in 12 hours. The first year was great, as I'd have a good 2 days worth of a draw before charging. Now, it's hours. For a $1400 price tag, I want more from my equipment. I'm starting a Sprinter build now, and while the ease of install with Goal Zero is nice, I need it to be reliable for more than a year. So, those interested in these products, take note of life of use expectations...before making the large purchase.

We're sorry to hear about the troubles you've experienced with your Yeti 1250. battery life can be affected by multiple things such as how many cycles you put on the battery or how you're maintaining the battery. However, one year before the AGM battery starts to hold less power is a bit strange unless you were using your Yeti 1250 daily and putting many cycles on the battery. Peter, I have a similar Goal Zero investment for my shipping container cabin. I also lost power through the years, although I have not used it much. I must say though, I think the product line is rock solid and I probably will use Goal Zero to upgrade to Lithium. The reason being even though there was degradation, it was very usable and consistent in the way it deteriorated (I hate to use that word).
Goal Zero But who plunks down that kind of cash that isn't a daily user? Isn't your video aimed at daily users? Your brand got into the market early for van lifers who didn't want to figure out the electrical, which is fine; there are additional advantages to a mobile system, but Inergy's got you beat at this point. I'll keep watching your product line and reading reviews because no doubt the competition will compel you to step up, but for now: Nah.

Yeti 400 here with a 150w panel. Cpap every night plus phone charge. I go for a week at a time camping and it's always full by night. May be use 1/2 by morning.
Just upgraded from the Goal Zero Yeti 400 to the 1400 Lithium. I use it every day to run a Surecall cell phone booster, Dometic CFX-75 fridge and various other gadgets. It’s charged by 200w of P3 foldable solar panels on the tent, in conjunction with the Goal Zero MPPT ad aptor. Goal Zero makes excellent products, used 6 x Lite-A-Life 350s chained together to light the tent throughout the winter.
Love my Yeti 1000. I've been using it to power my ARB 50L Fridge, charge drone and camera batteries, along with running a small tent fan. Great addition to any portable power setup.
I bought a Yeti 3000 after Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico. After three years and five months it still charges up to ninety six percent. It's amazing. I cycle it between 35 to seventy five to extend the life of the batteries. I never had to use a gas generator since. Thanks GZ.
I know it's light and looks real cool but for the price of a Yeti, I picked up a Costco Yamaha 1800 watt inverter generator, (2) 35ah agm batteries, a 400 watt pure sine inverter w usb, an 80 watt foldable solar panel set with a charge controller and a big buddy propane heater with some money to spare for gas and lp.This keeps me covered for using the generator for big draw appliances and charging batteries, the batteries and inverter for led tvs, laptops, iPads and iPhones and the big buddy for when the temps go from 80 to 45 after the sun sets.
That's a really economical setup. Could you please list the models of: 1) 35ah agm batteries, 2) 400 watt pure sine inverter w usb 3) 80 watt foldable solar panel set with a charge controller)?
I'd do a 100 Ah Bioenno LiFePO4 battery. Small pure sine wave inverter, 300 Bestech. 100W renogy solar panel and maybe one of their compatible chargers with the battery or I use the Buddipole power mini. When I go camping, while it's allowed in the rules for certain hours, I'm not the biggest fan of hearing a generator running for four hours next door between 5pm an 9pm. Very rarely does someone bring one.

I didn't need the high power to run 1000w appliances but I did need to power a cPAP machine at my mountain cabin that is off the grid. I have the older model Yeti 400 because I can chain extra batteries to it. It works great, it powers the cPAP and a fan and has a total power of105AH. The cost of the extra two 35AH batteries was $125.00 and the Yeti was under $500.00. LOVE IT and it lets me not run a LP gas generator at night. ALSO A 100W solar panel works great to recharge in day. I can run the cPAP for days on the Yeti.
Jim Fariello also if you can get the 12v power supply for your cpap unit you can run much longer. The a/c power wastes a bunch of energy just running an inverted. Skip the middle man and go 12v!

Thanks a lot! You gave the most practical and helpful presentation! I’ve been looking for months for such information. Some guys would give too much technical and involved information, but this was simple and to the point. I would get confused between what to look at: watts or amps. So this was more straightforward. So on a microwave, I presume that I just judge by what the micro says for watts.
I’d give the lady in this presentation 5 stars, great job & looked great doing it. As far as quality of the product versus the the price of the product, 2 stars max.
On heater... saw something on a CZcams video, home built snowmobile camper was heated with a 250 watt heater.... he was using a new Jackery 1000, with 2 - 100 watt solar panels to fill the power station full before nightfall... The Outsider... is a Jackery fan... I have Goal Zero in several sizes including the Yeti 1500x ... but it did show me some important things... insulation is very important in stretching power for heating.... so I pay more attention now to heater sizes... I also have some GoSun items that I have used with my 1500x, the Fusion solar hybrid cooker... the Chill portable freezer .... I think I could run each with my Yeti 200x... but not with big margins. Was nice to see this vintage video...
There are portable versions of things and 12 volt versions of appliances i am just learning about. Bought a portable kettle boiler. Only consumes 300 watts. About 1000 less than my old big amazonbasics one. Just takes a few minutes longer with less capacity.
Love the Idea and love the look of the Product as an all in one unit with most camping and offgrid needs. The down side is the UK prices over £1000 for a 100ah unit !! then there is the really slow rechange times via PWM & the MPPT charge controllers. accessories are over priced for what they are. Only a 500 cycle lifespan on a LiPh battery. If you could all those negatives then unit would be Great.
I would recommend that the power needs aren't necessarily "all" or "nothing"; in particular the cooking and heating I would rather use a Mr. Heater (propane gas) and a Gladiator camp stove (also propane gas). Now, this would be for the weekend warrior who is camping for 2-4 days. As for phone charges (for GSP offline trail tracking), USB fans, camp lights (led), then the Yeti would be a good complimentary power source for those types of items. Also, the Harbor Freight air compressor; needed for offroad tire pressure runs off of auto battery, would also be able to blow up air mattresses as well.
Great video! Neat to see the Yeti put to the test for different camping related items. I hope you have plans to do this same series with your smaller portable power options - say maybe the Yeti 150 or Sherpa 100.
The Yeti 500x I use has a faulty USB design connection. I have a 1000 and 500. Love the products. However, the second port from the left USB (not the c-port) has a design issue where some USB adapters will have a loose fit causing it to not work. It works but you have to keep pressure on it upwards to make the connection. This issue was found right out of the box. I hope Goal Zero fixed it.
Curious as to why she would plug a 12volt dc fridge in to the Yeti while using the AC convertors that waste electricity?? The Dometic is designed to run on 12v dc, why not use the the 12v output of the yeti and not lose electricity in the conversion?
Why don't you fix the 12 volt receptacle so it doesn't have the raised shoulders, preventing use of the 12 volt cord from a Dometic or ARB cooler? These units have very fat tips on the plug due to the nested fuse, and this center contact will not touch the center pin of the 12 volt receptacle in the Yeti. I worked around it by getting an adapter cable (Anderson port to 12 volt outlet) from PowerWerx. This problem existed from your first Yeti, and looks like it is still a problem with this unit.
WOW, with all these "glamping" accessories it looks like there's a need for a nice 1000/800W inverter generator at the minimum or a 2000/1800W nearer the headier draw to supplement the yeti 1400.Yeti has a small footprint but its pricepoint is steep for basically a battery with 12v taps, a DC to AC inverter. contained in a case. Believe it or not there is such a thing as a "hand cranked" blender that does a reasonable job. I have a hand operated food processor for camping & power outtages.
Since goal zero hasnt figured out how to allow high charging rates and multiple panels its not practical to use any model they make unless ur going to the beach for a few hours then home to charge it. The kodiak inergy allows 600 watts of input so its more practical to setup and rely on it for a whole week or like a vanlife setup.
You may want to try to ingest some raw onion cuts to keep your respiratory system as clean as possible. It'll be enough to consume once every two weeks or, if you feel like weakening towards congestion or flu just try some with some food and we within an hour or next day you'll be fine! For heating they may burn some wood out or in a wood stove.
LED Christmas or fairy lights will use significantly less power. You plugged the Dometic fridge into 110V, since it also works on 12V, shouldn't you have plugged it in there to conserve power?
I think it's a case of needing the proper power cord. Apparently, Dometic and Goal Zero use different plugs on their 12 V power cords. If you are handy with electrical things, you could probably build your own power cords and/or connection adapters to do the job. Powering the fridge via a 110 V to 12 V adapter is going to waste power.
@@raysills The cord to the Dometic compressor fridge have a male sigarett lighter plug, Goal Zero has a female sigarett lighter receptacle.... I believe that's a match... 😁
Pretty simple. Hook up a solar panel to the DC Input on the Yeti battery. Some comments from the host in this video make me wonder if the Yeti can manage and deliver Solar and battery power simultaneously, which would be pretty wicked cool. I’d ask GoalZero CS for confirmation. You would want to look into the math, it pays off. Depending on what you use, you may need more panels to top off the battery every day in variable light conditions. A single 100W solar panel might not fully recharge an empty 1400W battery with one day’s sunlight (I haven’t done the math yet, I’m just telling you what to look for). Goal Zero customer support may be able to advise on the formula for solar to battery ratio, though it’s a good idea to look at the amount of power draw your appliances will typically use in a day and get a battery with more storage than that (and enough solar to recharge that in less than a day). Keep in mind the one featured in the video is a lithium battery. Lead Acid batteries are cheaper, but they like to be topped off nightly for best longevity. Lithium batteries are usually easier to maintain, lighter, and store more energy for the same sized box. A full discharge and recharge cycle is much harder on a battery than floating between 40-60%, if you only use some of the capacity at a time the battery will get more recharge cycles and last many more years. Can’t think of other advice off the top of my head. Researching this topic has been fun for me, though I might have to fall back on it during this pandemic if my rent goes up too much on the next lease renewal. Let me know if you have more q’s.
Just want to add something! Recently discovered LiFePO4 batteries... that’s the chemical abbreviations for Lithium Iron Phosphate (Oxygen 4?). They’re power dense and easy to maintain like Lithium-Ion, however they’re even more durable with 4x as many recharge cycles... these are 10-year batteries you don’t have to worry about.Those are the headline feature of BattleBorn batteries, but a small selection of other companies are starting to make them too. I tried looking for LiFePO4 power stations similar to the Goal Zero products, but so far all I found on Amazon was by a company called Beaudens and Energizer. I think the Energizer Power Station is particularly interesting because it has the Power Delivery USB (PD) for fast, efficient output and recharging that the Beaudens lacks. PD is cool, it will recharge a laptop faster than a wall outlet style A/C jack, not need the “brick,” and take less energy from the battery bank. It also has the MTTP Charging feature that makes solar much more effective, like the Goal Zero. However, it doesn’t have the huge 300W continuous / 1200W (!!!) surge power inverter like the best Goal Zero lithium power station, nor user-replaceable batteries like the GZ Yeti 400. I’m curious if the user could drop in a LiFePO4 battery into the Yeti 400 (or other Yeti) once the factory battery wears out?
How can you say that the smaller blender is a more sustainable option, while you’ve got no comparison of the amount of blended product and consumed Watthours?
it just a glorified assessors charger you cant even run a small 250w heater off it pricy for smart device charging. I made mistake buying 400 lithum and it blew "fuse" trying and im using it with a teardrop camper so 400 if more effective would be a good physical size. Goal zero says go with 3000 model which is almost heavy enough to flip camper over lol
You use modified sinewave in the yeti 150 I hear a big noise on my tower fan and what you doing use an fan on the yeti 1400. I find the price to burnout my fan to expensive

I've been using my yeti 1400 for my only power source for about 7 months now, purely solar charged. it seems okay, hasn't failed me yet but the capacity is way lower than it used to be. I can't find any replacement batteries, which is the reason I purchased it in the first place. not cool!

Your Journey to Sleep Like other people have commented, it's the difference in starting with a 12v power source and then converting it to 'household current' with the inverter. You should use 12v devices as much as possible, your power goes farther. Btw, goal zero gear costs more and has fewer ports and functions and is heavier than the Inergy Kodiak, which has a sweet 3k now. I don't work for the or anything, but it is on my wish list.
I was thinking the same thing. Most say around 1800 watts but that one was pulling about half that. The blenders were doing the same thing though so it makes it tough to know what the different appliances will actually pull when trying to put a setup together.

What percentage is used just to convert the energy when plugged in as apposed to the cigarette lighter plug? I have the earleir 1400 Yeti and seems like a good product, although the Light button has sunk into the front face a little.

Hi Jeff, Ultimately that depends on how many solar panels you're using and the weather conditions you're under. if you max out the input on the PWM controller at 360 watts you should be able to recharge the Yeti 1400 in about 4-6 hours in sunlight. If you add the MPPT controller module to the Yeti 1400 you can have a max input of 600 watts and it can recharge even faster.
Hi, Great question, you can definitely recharge the Goal Zero Yeti's with the wall chargers they come with from your home outlets. We also have 12V and solar options for recharging as well.
Goal Zero I am considering buying one of these as a hopefully long lasting running of biPAP (similar to CPAP) will it run as an UPS? I am wanting it for home in case of our frequent power blackout outages, will it automatically kick in if the power goes out? Also, will it output 24 volt, pure sine wave?

Dometic fridges will run on 12vdc, why did you use the AC outlet? This tells me lithium still cannot run off road fridges on 12vdc. I have the 1000 and am NOT happy with this scenario.
Hi, You're correct, they do run on 12V and there is a known compatibility concern with lithium technology running these awesome off road fridges. We've been working closely with ARB and Dometic the past few months in resolving this. Keep an eye out in the next month or so because we will have a solution that will make this possible to run on 12V.
There is a vlog where this guy's ARB fridge had a compatibility issue with the 12V plug on the Yeti. He called Yeti and the solution was that he got an Anderson (plugged into the Yeti) to 12V adapter (ARB plugged into) and that solved the issue. Mel Lacson -- A comment on another site pointed out that the 12V socket has 'shoulders' in the plastic on either side of the center contact which prevents 12V plugs with a too wide center contact from reaching it. I looked in mine, and yup - the plastic insulator does have 'shoulders' which is why I was having a no-power issue. Searched my box of electrical 'so-forth and what-not' (ha-ha) coming out with another 12V plug with narrower center contact = worked just fine !
What is the compatibility issue with lithium batteries running off road fridges? I am currently using a Yeti 1000 Lithium to power my Dometic fridge and am wondering if there is something I should be concerned about.
Most off-road fridges are designed to work with lead acid batteries. Their voltage ranges from 10.5V to ~14V. In order to not drain your lead acid battery beyond usability, the fridge manufacturers designed in a shutoff that will turn off the fridge when it sees a voltage below a certain voltage(usually 11.5V). the Goal Zero lithium battery ranges from 9V to 12.5V. So when the fridge sees 11.5V, it shuts itself off, even though it has a majority of its capacity remaining. You won't damage the fridge, or the yeti. It was just a bad assumption on the fridge manufacturers side to assume their product would always be plugged into the same chemistry. I think Goal Zero is releasing a product that will ensure the voltage on the 12V will maintain a consistent voltage to mitigate this problem.
I have the same Yeti in this video and the 120v AC stopped working and each time i reset it a red light turns on and it says overload. But nothing is plugged in. I have had this Yeti for over a year. What am i supposed to do? This occurred when i used the exact same space heater that you used in the this commercial.

Hi Alvara, Great question. So everything will ultimately depend on the power draw of your heater or air conditioner. So let's say for example your heater required 1500 watts to run, that would mean that every hour your heater would drain the battery by 1500 watts. So if we took our Yeti 3000 lithium power station that stores 3000 watts of power that would only be able to run that heater for 2 hours before it would drain the Yeti to empty. So even having a larger Yeti that was 2000 or 3000 watts wouldn't make it run all night and still be a heavy power draw.

Hi, great question, when using the blanket we were getting a 75 watt draw to power it. At that wattage rating we could run that blanket for roughly 18-19 hours. Keep in mind that your particular heated blanket may be rated differently and could run longer or less depending on it's power draw and if it requires a 110V plug or can run off of 12V. So check out the tech specs of your blanket to see how long it will run for.

Agreed, the convenience of the Yeti is just not worth the price tag. If you have the money, buy it. But there are far more options for far less.
I'd do a 100 Ah Bioenno LiFePO4 battery. Small pure sine wave inverter, 300 Bestech. 100W renogy solar panel and maybe one of their compatible chargers with the battery or I use the Buddipole power mini. When I go camping, while it's allowed in the rules for certain hours, I'm not the biggest fan of hearing a generator running for four hours next door between 5pm an 9pm. Very rarely does someone bring one.

I didn't need the high power to run 1000w appliances but I did need to power a cPAP machine at my mountain cabin that is off the grid. I have the older model Yeti 400 because I can chain extra batteries to it. It works great, it powers the cPAP and a fan and has a total power of105AH. The cost of the extra two 35AH batteries was $125.00 and the Yeti was under $500.00. LOVE IT and it lets me not run a LP gas generator at night. ALSO A 100W solar panel works great to recharge in day. I can run the cPAP for days on the Yeti.
Jim Fariello also if you can get the 12v power supply for your cpap unit you can run much longer. The a/c power wastes a bunch of energy just running an inverted. Skip the middle man and go 12v!

Thanks a lot! You gave the most practical and helpful presentation! I’ve been looking for months for such information. Some guys would give too much technical and involved information, but this was simple and to the point. I would get confused between what to look at: watts or amps. So this was more straightforward. So on a microwave, I presume that I just judge by what the micro says for watts.
I’d give the lady in this presentation 5 stars, great job & looked great doing it. As far as quality of the product versus the the price of the product, 2 stars max.
On heater... saw something on a CZcams video, home built snowmobile camper was heated with a 250 watt heater.... he was using a new Jackery 1000, with 2 - 100 watt solar panels to fill the power station full before nightfall... The Outsider... is a Jackery fan... I have Goal Zero in several sizes including the Yeti 1500x ... but it did show me some important things... insulation is very important in stretching power for heating.... so I pay more attention now to heater sizes... I also have some GoSun items that I have used with my 1500x, the Fusion solar hybrid cooker... the Chill portable freezer .... I think I could run each with my Yeti 200x... but not with big margins.

There are portable versions of things and 12 volt versions of appliances i am just learning about. Bought a portable kettle boiler. Only consumes 300 watts. About 1000 less than my old big amazonbasics one. Just takes a few minutes longer with less capacity.

Love the Idea and love the look of the Product as an all in one unit with most camping and offgrid needs. The down side is the UK prices over £1000 for a 100ah unit !! then there is the really slow rechange times via PWM & the MPPT charge controllers. accessories are over priced for what they are. Only a 500 cycle lifespan on a LiPh battery. If you could all those negatives then unit would be Great.
I would recommend that the power needs aren't necessarily "all" or "nothing"; in particular the cooking and heating I would rather use a Mr. Heater (propane gas) and a Gladiator camp stove (also propane gas). Now, this would be for the weekend warrior who is camping for 2-4 days. As for phone charges (for GSP offline trail tracking), USB fans, camp lights (led), then the Yeti would be a good complimentary power source for those types of items. Also, the Harbor Freight air compressor; needed for offroad tire pressure runs off of auto battery, would also be able to blow up air mattresses as well.
Great video! Neat to see the Yeti put to the test for different camping related items. I hope you have plans to do this same series with your smaller portable power options - say maybe the Yeti 150 or Sherpa 100.

The Yeti 500x I use has a faulty USB design connection. I have a 1000 and 500. Love the products. However, the second port from the left USB (not the c-port) has a design issue where some USB adapters will have a loose fit causing it to not work. It works but you have to keep pressure on it upwards to make the connection. This issue was found right out of the box. I hope Goal Zero fixed it.

Curious as to why she would plug a 12volt dc fridge in to the Yeti while using the AC convertors that waste electricity?? The Dometic is designed to run on 12v dc, why not use the the 12v output of the yeti and not lose electricity in the conversion?

Why don't you fix the 12 volt receptacle so it doesn't have the raised shoulders, preventing use of the 12 volt cord from a Dometic or ARB cooler? These units have very fat tips on the plug due to the nested fuse, and this center contact will not touch the center pin of the 12 volt receptacle in the Yeti. I worked around it by getting an adapter cable (Anderson port to 12 volt outlet) from PowerWerx. This problem existed from your first Yeti, and looks like it is still a problem with this unit.

WOW, with all these "glamping" accessories it looks like there's a need for a nice 1000/800W inverter generator at the minimum or a 2000/1800W nearer the headier draw to supplement the yeti 1400.Yeti has a small footprint but its pricepoint is steep for basically a battery with 12v taps, a DC to AC inverter. contained in a case. Believe it or not there is such a thing as a "hand cranked" blender that does a reasonable job. I have a hand operated food processor for camping & power outtages.
Right, if you do your research you can get a lot more for your money and better battery tech too if you are willing to DIY.
Since goal zero hasnt figured out how to allow high charging rates and multiple panels its not practical to use any model they make unless ur going to the beach for a few hours then home to charge it. The kodiak inergy allows 600 watts of input so its more practical to setup and rely on it for a whole week or like a vanlife setup.
You may want to try to ingest some raw onion cuts to keep your respiratory system as clean as possible. It'll be enough to consume once every two weeks or, if you feel like weakening towards congestion or flu just try some with some food and we within an hour or next day you'll be fine!
For heating they may burn some wood out or in a wood stove.

LED Christmas or fairy lights will use significantly less power. You plugged the Dometic fridge into 110V, since it also works on 12V, shouldn't you have plugged it in there to conserve power?

I think it's a case of needing the proper power cord. Apparently, Dometic and Goal Zero use different plugs on their 12 V power cords. If you are handy with electrical things, you could probably build your own power cords and/or connection adapters to do the job. Powering the fridge via a 110 V to 12 V adapter is going to waste power.

Pretty simple.
Hook up a solar panel to the DC Input on the Yeti battery. Some comments from the host in this video make me wonder if the Yeti can manage and deliver Solar and battery power simultaneously, which would be pretty wicked cool. I’d ask GoalZero CS for confirmation.
You would want to look into the math, it pays off. Depending on what you use, you may need more panels to top off the battery every day in variable light conditions. A single 100W solar panel might not fully recharge an empty 1400W battery with one day’s sunlight (I haven’t done the math yet, I’m just telling you what to look for). Goal Zero customer support may be able to advise on the formula for solar to battery ratio, though it’s a good idea to look at the amount of power draw your appliances will typically use in a day and get a battery with more storage than that (and enough solar to recharge that in less than a day).
Keep in mind the one featured in the video is a lithium battery. Lead Acid batteries are cheaper, but they like to be topped off nightly for best longevity. Lithium batteries are usually easier to maintain, lighter, and store more energy for the same sized box. A full discharge and recharge cycle is much harder on a battery than floating between 40-60%, if you only use some of the capacity at a time the battery will get more recharge cycles and last many more years.
Can’t think of other advice off the top of my head. Researching this topic has been fun for me, though I might have to fall back on it during this pandemic if my rent goes up too much on the next lease renewal. Let me know if you have more q’s.

Recently discovered LiFePO4 batteries... that’s the chemical abbreviations for Lithium Iron Phosphate (Oxygen 4?). They’re power dense and easy to maintain like Lithium-Ion, however they’re even more durable with 4x as many recharge cycles... these are 10-year batteries you don’t have to worry about.Those are the headline feature of BattleBorn batteries, but a small selection of other companies are starting to make them too. I tried looking for LiFePO4 power stations similar to the Goal Zero products, but so far all I found on Amazon was by a company called Beaudens and Energizer.
I think the Energizer Power Station is particularly interesting because it has the Power Delivery USB (PD) for fast, efficient output and recharging that the Beaudens lacks. PD is cool, it will recharge a laptop faster than a wall outlet style A/C jack, not need the “brick,” and take less energy from the battery bank. It also has the MTTP Charging feature that makes solar much more effective, like the Goal Zero. However, it doesn’t have the huge 300W continuous / 1200W (!!!) surge power inverter like the best Goal Zero lithium power station, nor user-replaceable batteries like the GZ Yeti 400.
I’m curious if the user could drop in a LiFePO4 battery into the Yeti 400 (or other Yeti) once the factory battery wears out?
A small ac, small heater and small skillet are the only thing I need it for. Guess this won’t work. Back to my Honda 2000.

How can you say that the smaller blender is a more sustainable option, while you’ve got no comparison of the amount of blended product and consumed Watthours?
it just a glorified assessors charger you cant even run a small 250w heater off it pricy for smart device charging. I made mistake buying 400 lithum and it blew "fuse" trying and im using it with a teardrop camper so 400 if more effective would be a good physical size. Goal zero says go with 3000 model which is almost heavy enough to flip camper over lol

I've been using my yeti 1400 for my only power source for about 7 months now, purely solar charged. it seems okay, hasn't failed me yet but the capacity is way lower than it used to be. I can't find any replacement batteries, which is the reason I purchased it in the first place. not cool!

Like other people have commented, it's the difference in starting with a 12v power source and then converting it to 'household current' with the inverter. You should use 12v devices as much as possible, your power goes farther. Btw, goal zero gear costs more and has fewer ports and functions and is heavier than the Inergy Kodiak, which has a sweet 3k now. I don't work for the or anything, but it is on my wish list.

I was thinking the same thing. Most say around 1800 watts but that one was pulling about half that. The blenders were doing the same thing though so it makes it tough to know what the different appliances will actually pull when trying to put a setup together.

Ultimately that depends on how many solar panels you're using and the weather conditions you're under. if you max out the input on the PWM controller at 360 watts you should be able to recharge the Yeti 1400 in about 4-6 hours in sunlight. If you add the MPPT controller module to the Yeti 1400 you can have a max input of 600 watts and it can recharge even faster.

Great question, you can definitely recharge the Goal Zero Yeti's with the wall chargers they come with from your home outlets. We also have 12V and solar options for recharging as well.
Goal Zero I am considering buying one of these as a hopefully long lasting running of biPAP (similar to CPAP) will it run as an UPS? I am wanting it for home in case of our frequent power blackout outages, will it automatically kick in if the power goes out? Also, will it output 24 volt, pure sine wave?

On the batteries they are using, yes. But remember it's after 500 charge cycles the battery will have 80% of its original capacity.

Dometic fridges will run on 12vdc, why did you use the AC outlet? This tells me lithium still cannot run off road fridges on 12vdc. I have the 1000 and am NOT happy with this scenario.

You're correct, they do run on 12V and there is a known compatibility concern with lithium technology running these awesome off road fridges. We've been working closely with ARB and Dometic the past few months in resolving this. Keep an eye out in the next month or so because we will have a solution that will make this possible to run on 12V.
There is a vlog where this guy's ARB fridge had a compatibility issue with the 12V plug on the Yeti. He called Yeti and the solution was that he got an Anderson (plugged into the Yeti) to 12V adapter (ARB plugged into) and that solved the issue. Mel Lacson -- A comment on another site pointed out that the 12V socket has 'shoulders' in the plastic on either side of the center contact which prevents 12V plugs with a too wide center contact from reaching it. I looked in mine, and yup - the plastic insulator does have 'shoulders' which is why I was having a no-power issue. Searched my box of electrical 'so-forth and what-not' (ha-ha) coming out with another 12V plug with narrower center contact = worked just fine !
What is the compatibility issue with lithium batteries running off road fridges? I am currently using a Yeti 1000 Lithium to power my Dometic fridge and am wondering if there is something I should be concerned about.
Most off-road fridges are designed to work with lead acid batteries. Their voltage ranges from 10.5V to ~14V. In order to not drain your lead acid battery beyond usability, the fridge manufacturers designed in a shutoff that will turn off the fridge when it sees a voltage below a certain voltage(usually 11.5V).
the Goal Zero lithium battery ranges from 9V to 12.5V. So when the fridge sees 11.5V, it shuts itself off, even though it has a majority of its capacity remaining. You won't damage the fridge, or the yeti. It was just a bad assumption on the fridge manufacturers side to assume their product would always be plugged into the same chemistry. I think Goal Zero is releasing a product that will ensure the voltage on the 12V will maintain a consistent voltage to mitigate this problem.

I have the same Yeti in this video and the 120v AC stopped working and each time i reset it a red light turns on and it says overload. But nothing is plugged in. I have had this Yeti for over a year. What am i supposed to do? This occurred when i used the exact same space heater that you used in the this commercial.

Great question. So everything will ultimately depend on the power draw of your heater or air conditioner. So let's say for example your heater required 1500 watts to run, that would mean that every hour your heater would drain the battery by 1500 watts. So if we took our Yeti 3000 lithium power station that stores 3000 watts of power that would only be able to run that heater for 2 hours before it would drain the Yeti to empty. So even having a larger Yeti that was 2000 or 3000 watts wouldn't make it run all night and still be a heavy power draw.

great question, when using the blanket we were getting a 75 watt draw to power it. At that wattage rating we could run that blanket for roughly 18-19 hours. Keep in mind that your particular heated blanket may be rated differently and could run longer or less depending on it's power draw and if it requires a 110V plug or can run off of 12V. So check out the tech specs of your blanket to see how long it will run for.
