I've surprisingly done way better with a 60 score deck (based on Hearth Arena) than a 73 I got the other day. While the numbers indicate mainly the card quality and some synergies, I still think luck is the biggest factor in arena; it depends on your starting hand and how lucky you get with the draws, also by how lucky is your opponent. In general, I'd say skills in this game are about 30% (at least in arena, maybe in constructed is more partial).
Pretty much. You need synergy and luck to do really well. I drafted a 79.4 Warlock deck and went 5-3.

He would've been 1 off. Playing fireball on the turn he did allowed him to ping, so his opponent would've been at 13.
Kripp thanks for being an inspiration to me with my recordings! Your one of the few I still consistently watch when I am not traveling around and making Hearthstone vids. Hope we can meet someday!

Some call him the Grinch... but we call him Kripp he won't bring you gifts or candy for Christmas but will give you a carrot, some lettuce and some cabbage because he does not want you to have fun on Christmas... just Healthy. He will sneak into your house and give you those lovely vegan treats and then sneak off into the night to complain and moan about RNG......
i could cry right now... my last arena was so ridiculous it would have easily been "the most ridiculous arena of all time" for kripp... started out 3-0 with a nice priest deck and then it started. first encounter mage with 3 flamestrikes just as kripp got here, where i first played around the first one so it wasnt a big deal, the second one hit me really hard and at the 3rd one i could surrender immidiatly, second opponent was a freakin warlock with reno jackson which he TOPDECKED at 3 hp and although he didnt gain boardcontrol he could brewmaster him and played him a second time at 9 health where there was simply no way of outplaying that shit... and then finally a mage who was in topdeck mode for 3 turns and the final turn where i fully comitted to the board to gain leathal next turn draw into a flamestrike as well followed by a kraken and fucking kazakus on which he got the possibility to get 3 random demons that fortunatly for him were krul, doomguard and floating watcher... i was so done after that
Kripp being unlucky is just the perfect thing on youtube.
It's funny because the druid that Kripp played first always happened to play what he topped deck in the early game..

How does he get the card ratings in the draft?
Turns out if you have only one minion with stats worth more than 4 mana (bruiser is basically a 4-drop worth of power), winning is pretty tough no matter how much removal you have. Kripp should've known this when drafting. The hint that this is the case even according to Heartharena came when the drakonid crusher was rated 131 as opposed to it's base value of 61. The deck needed high power late game minions to work, which it hadn't.

I got both Kazakus and Solia in the same deck with no dupes. I have literally one bad cards and that´s arcane explosion. Currently 6-0 but im nervous to play since I´ll never get a deck this good again. ( got both flamestrike and firelands for solia ) + zombie chow, mana wyrm and worgen inf. for early)
that's insane, dude. obviously play it like a curvestone deck. Solia might be pretty good afterall.

Factual errors - Heartharena system does take "synergies" into account, it even tries to establish deck archetype and modifies the dynamic component of card values according to whether they fit to that archetype or not.
However, since Merps and ADWCTA left Heartharena, the accuracy of the evaluations seems to have gone dowhill. I have seen Cursed Blade getting 107 value while King's Defender was offered at the same time that got only abouy 80+ only due to the "aggro" deck archetype, which was not even good estimation of the deck.
That said, the "deck strength" according to Heartharena does not mean much, as pointed out by others.
if that video proofs one thing, its that you still should use your brain while drafting.

I don't get it. Why water elemental has synergy with Flamestrike and Daring Reporter with Pompous Thespian? Okay that second one I can understand because of taunt, and Reporter can snowball but that first one?
Razertire Pompous Thespian is a taunt so it'll be harder to kill the Daring Reporter immediately, so it gets bigger. As for Water Elemental and Flamestrike...you got me there. I think because WE can freeze anything Flamestrike doesn't kill? Just my best guess there.
Or maybe we can freeze target to prepare it for flamestrike ;o

My guess is Water Elemental can finish off most things the Flamestrike doesn't kill, and the high hp means it might survive doing so.

This is the second video that you made about this. it seems like the deck score doesn't really mean anything after a certain point, in fact it seems that after a certain threshold your deck becomes weaker with a higher score

I had a 77.2 shaman, I had 8 wins with it, after that I had a 66 point rogue, and I had 12 wins with it. So Heartharena scores doesn't really matter most of the time.
that's called variance, if you only compare two decks with each other, you can't really draw any reliable conclusions from it.

In the last match , kripp should have killed 5-4 with lance rather than fireball because of the potential burst , misplay i would say

best deck you ever had according to an obviously flawed heartharena rating.....after you drafted your second flamestrike your mistakes were @2:15 when you drafted the scarlet crusader over the tomb spider and @3:18 for going with acidic swamp ooze over the reckless rocketeer. you needed to go value + bigger minions otherwise you have no way to win/kill
