23:05 this is very sad! Even I've seen the locals throwing garbage on the road like that. Initially I thought those were tourist that makes such beautiful places dirty but no... i was wrong... those are the local people and residents of shillong only who does it the most. I've seen so many local fellows throwing bottles etc out of their moving cars during my last visit to meghalaya.

I was in Shillong for 12 years till 1993. I still remember those days where traffic was very less, police bazaar used to be a beautiful and happening place. Food was not sold on the street side. Taxis were all ambassadors. I have been told that Cherrapunji very closely resembles now to what Shillong used to be. I still need to go there and visit my school. Lots of memories. Thanks for videos on Shillong. You should visit Elephant falls, Shillong peak, Ward's lake, Polo grounds with the golf course nearby.

Pallavi put forth a very pertinent question to Maneesh as to whether it was necessary to go for 4wd paying 3L extra. I feel, that except for die hard explorers like Maneesh and Pallavi, 2wd would be a viable option.
Agreed so far 4WD was not utilised since vehicle is bought however with snow season and that moment when you feel paying 3 lakh was worth. You rightly said it’s for explorers who really go off the terrain.

The Khasi community is a matrilineal community. The mother is the head of the family. After marriage, the husband goes and stays with the wife's family. After the death of mother and father, the property and all the wealth is inherited by the younger daughter. It is then her wish if she wants to divide it with her other siblings. I don't know whether you have noticed or not, all the khasi shops are run by the ladies.
We did talk about same in our previous vlog Dibrugarh to Shillong. Yes we are aware of same and read about that culture ☺️

There are many more things which can be said regarding the Khasi community. For instance, the dress the ladies wear is called Jainsem. The Khasi Tambul is called Kuwai. The famous Khasi dish is Jahdoh (Jah means rice and Doh means meat). This is a peculiar and tasty dish. It sort of Khasi Biriyani, with pork meat. The blood of pork is added in the rice while cooking to give it a unique flavour.

It's true, the youngest daughter inherit the property, husband goes to the wife house till now we still practice,exceptional cases are there where they will shift to their own nest,but if you marry the youngest daughter you have to stay to wife house because the youngest daughter have to look after her parents, grand parents and the property, so the target is always the youngest one😂😂😂nice isn't it.
