Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. I've watched and enjoyed many of your other videos before finding this one. Along the way, your relationship became obvious, but I didn't mind because you were so open about yourselves and I enjoyed what you had to tell me about van life and your interesting travels. As parents of both a lesbian daughter and a gay son, I can tell you we were so proud when our children blossomed into the beautiful people they are today when they came out. They and their partners have been nothing but a blessing to our family. Our hope is that the two of you are such a blessing to your families as well.

Your coming out stories brought so much joy to my soul. My BIRTH family cut me off completely when I came out but I had my chosen family around me providing me with unconditional love.

One thing I love about the two of you in the videos I have seen of you is how you look at each other. You both sit close, glance over at each other often and seem to drink in each other while the other talking. Even without saying a word directly to each other, you are so intimate. It is very sweet.

As a parent, I’ve always made it very clear to our kids that it really doesn’t matter to me who they love, as long as the other person is kind, loving and caring, like they are 🥰💜💚💙🧡. One piece of advise I gave our kids is to always keep communicating, even when you’re upset with each other. When you give someone the silent treatment ( my hubby and I learned that the hard way ) it makes that person feel like they’re not worth the effort to make things better again. It’s taken us way too many years to learn that lesson. I finally told my husband that it’s ok for us to get mad at each other, but we should never give each other the silent treatment any longer. We used to sometimes go for days not talking to each other, and you both just feel like crap that whole time. No more! Life’s too short 🥰
You’re an awesome parent! Your kids are lucky to have you! That I great advise. You’re so right. Life is way to short! Tell the one you love you love them always 💛🌞✨
That is so beautiful when you can actually keep communicating without just furthering a mutual meltdown. For us sometimes it’s better my wife and I don’t talk for a couple days then when the clouds part and the blue breaks through it seems like we’re even closer than before. We can both get too emotional. Funny how life works sometimes!

I really enjoy your channel. I am a 64 yo woman married to my wife since they allowed it in the US. We have been together for 28 years. I am so happy times have changed since we came out! But once I told my family and they had time to digest it their support meant everything. I love how kind, fun, brave, adventurous, and genuine you both are. I was really surprised to hear that you are not actually married. My wife and I have been together for 23 years. When it became legal to marry in the USA, we did not do it right away. Ultimately we married for many reasons, not the least being legal recognition of our bond. What was unexpected for both of us, was the power of it. It changed our relationship in such a positive way in the end. I highly recommend it. Great video guys!👏🇺🇸😷🏳️🌈
My son came out to me when he was 17 years old. Of course I already knew. But I knew that the way that I responded was going to lay the groundwork for the rest of his life going forward. I didn’t miss a beat when he told me told him I loved him regardless of who he loved and our relationship is stronger for it. My son is now 29 years old and a happy committed relationship where he is engaged to be married to a wonderful young handsome man. I was 18 years old when I had him so I have a very close relationship to my son and I wouldn’t change it for anything. ❤️ Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for being so open in your Q&A. I was surprised to neither of you have backgrounds in video production. The quality of your camera and editing work is amazing. I can totally see Jazmyn as a teacher (actually both of you). As a teacher I have taken my classes on week long outdoor education trips and the teachers at these schools are amazing. Please seriously consider becoming educators, you will make an incredible difference in the lives of youth.

As a mom of a adult child in the LGBTQ+ community - my biggest, proudest moment is when my child didn't have to "come-out". He told me he had a date with someone and I said that's amazing, where did you go....and the rest is history. So I agree that I pray for the normalcy of it that everyone can live their authentic selves at all times. I love your channel for this very reason. Kudos to you both.

My daughter is part of the LBGTQ community and keeps me well informed. My question is about that potato pancake I saw Chrystal make once. I make potato pancakes too as I'm Polish & my husband is Jewish. I eat them with applesauce & my husband with sour cream. My daughter eats them with ketchup but nobody needs to know that. I invite you to come to Portland, Oregon in late Sept early Oct for the Portland Polish festival & the Greek Festival. They are held about 1-2 weeks apart. The food is prepared by church "momma's" and is delish! Those Greek mammas know how to make cookies & have a whole tent devoted to them. Mmm.... Happy trails to you & see you at the salad bar.

I'm so glad to hear of the family support you both have, that's so important. It's not about waking up one day and deciding to live this lifestyle it's just about who you fall in love with... Lovely to get to know you gals. We are all different and that’s how it should be, why should you have defend your sexuality. No one should tell you who to fell in love with, respect each other and always be true to yourself.
I came across this post quite by accident and once I began viewing it I became interested in what your opinions are as a couple. Being a straight male you both have educated me a great deal. The answers you gave during this Q & A video gave me a whole new perspective on what a normal relationship is. I am very impressed with your openness and honesty and can begin to understand your feeling for each other. I also respect the advice you gave to other young females about the coming out aspect of life. I intend to continue viewing your videos to further expand what knowledge and advice you may offer to help myself & others accept and understand a different way of life.

Loved the Q &A. I have a question. My 15 year old daughter has told me that she’s gay. I have no problem with it and she’s open about it with me. But I worry about her feeling that she has to hide her feelings from other people. For example, she doesn’t want her father to know although he has never shown to be homophobic. She’s also now dating a girl who is still in the closet and does not want her family to know. I don’t want my daughter to feel she has to be hidden. #1. At what age did you know you were gay?
In her relationship with this “closet” girl, I worry about her getting hurt as so many young girls are just experimenting at this age and not sure about their sexuality. I worry that she might have a hard time finding a long term partner. She likes feminine girls so #2 how does she approach them when she doesn’t know if they’re gay or not?
I’m a very supportive mom and I want to help her through all of this. Any advise would really be appreciated. 😊
First of all, thank you for being so supportive of your daughter. That will go further than you can even imagine to help your daughter through all the rough patches she will, like all of us, go through in life, regardless of sexual orientation. You can'r protect her from that but you can listen when she needs to share. Fear of rejection by loved ones is the biggest factor that impedes coming out by LGBTQ people . Unfortunately, not every family is supportive and rejection can be devastating and even life threatening. Your daughter will find her way to telling her father with your encouragement. She will also find members of her "tribe" more easily than you might imagine. I've been with my wife for 27 years. I had a 10-year and a four-year relationship prior to that. That is not unusual for anyone, gay or straight. It's in the process of living and loving that we determine who are best and worst selves are and make choices accordingly. I'm so proud of the young LGTBQ people who are speaking and living their truth at a younger age. Your daughter is lucky to have you but you are very lucky to have her, as well! Love to you both!
NilDreams 1975 it is always interesting to hear from a parent’s point of view. My now 34 y/o told me just about a year ago she bi. She said she never felt the need to “come out” then decided she thought I should officially know from her. She sent this as a text when I was several provinces away. “So yeah...I’m bi and I wanted to tell you” was part of the message. One of my responses was that I would have to figure out how slip the ‘news’ into my travel blog about dinosaurs and dinosaurs. Which she liked the idea of. (I do not recall if I did). I also said unless she murders/ed someone she is who she is along with the hope that my lack of shock/worry was not unexpected. I tend to keep all my texts, so went back to read them. Most likely jamming my phone. And that is how we roll. Perhaps the age of ones children better prepares us for out of the blue pronouncements.
@@NilDreams Glad that I could be of help. Knowledge is power so I highly recommend checking out the websites and CZcams channels of LGTBQ organizations like PFLAG and GLSEN. There may even be a chapter of one or both of these organizations where you live. It always is helpful to reach out to others who are going through or have gone through what you and your daughter are experiencing.

Glad you didn't change your license plate. Border Patrol needs to get over it. The Canadian side is much more friendly - except for the time they had me (the American) get out and step into their office. I think the younger one was in training because it was all I could do to keep a straight face when I was grilled about weapons, pepper spray and wether or not I was a felon. I am a gray haired grandmother for crying out loud. My Canadian wife still laughs about it. Stay safe and stay healthy.

I just discovered you two last week, and I am loving your posts! I too love to adventure, and I take my "girls" with me too. I have a Golden Retriever, a standard Goldendoodle and a Mini Aussiedoodle. My husband doesn't really like to go, but my best friend does so because I have a job, our adventures are limited to long weekends in the summer. I have a class C right now. I lived in Scotland for some time and there are so many amazing plant-based options there! It was easy to find options in the city and everywhere outside cities would tend to have plant-based options.
I just started watching you guys and my first video I watched was you two buying a house and land in east Canada! I know I am watching backwards but it is super cool to listen to this Q & A and see April 2020 your goal was to buy a piece of wild property and NOW YOU HAVE WILD PROPERTY! Whool I can’t believe that I was watching thru your videos and when I heard your birthdays I couldn’t believe how close your birthdays were to mine and one of my daughters her birthday is Oct 23 1984 and mine is Aug 13 1963. But my grandmothers was the 12th. That’s just so funny.

After watching this video I have utterly and absolutely fallen in LOVE with the both of you, Oh my God you guys make such a wonderful couple. I really hope that we may meet someday. I am a very active person, with a big heart. I just love life. I am 65 years young and am constantly traveling mostly in the USA and Canada because there is so much to see. I have been to Europe many times and it kind of wears off after you been there many times. Now what you are doing in Mexico is something I have wanted to do for a while now. My wife passed away after 27 years of marriage and she never really liked traveling to Mexico, God bless her but now I want to go. I so wish I could be a fifth wheel and travel with you two. No, I am not creepy I am just a man who loves life and travel. Bless you, both and know that you have a new fan, follower, and friend. ps, I have a 28-year-old daughter who just gave me a Grandson!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

Growing up we used to holiday in the Okanagan. There was a naturalist named Carlton McNaughton. He took us on nature walks and had ‘class’ at evening talks. He always made castings of footprints on the walks and brought animals to the talks. (ie rattle snakes etc). I can totally see you teaching outdoors. Excellent vlog today ladies.
