Hwei is gettting buffed for the sake of teammates so that they don't play with 45% winrate in a team. Later he will likely receive a nerf. - Riot
After playing him for a bit I feel like he could either use a cooldown buff or a damage buff. NOT going CDR boots feels so terrible on him. And a mage without magic pen just deals significantly less damage. Actually, the fact that you have to build sorc shoes to deal decent damage but you CAN’T because you need that CDR feels kinda terrible.
Edit: nevermind. Riot thinks he might be too strong actually.

I talked to Riot August last night and he said right now it looks like he is indeed weak, but they are afraid of buffing him because pro play abuse. I honestly think his kit is awful for pro play and disagree, but at least I learned the reasoning of being hesitant on buffs
Everytime i see a qiyana go gore drinker i remember that one clip where that qiyana main failed to kill a kalista when she had goredrinker, tear and like 30 cs in 13 minutes after the durability patch and screamed "wheres my damage" good times.

I dont quite understand the stats of champs yet but by playing a champ that is played less, then other players will not be as locked in on small indicators of attacks. Just a thought.

Hwei, as a champion, just suffers from severe identity crisis. Unless you enjoy playing the champ, there's no reason to pick him since other champs do what he does better in any given situation. Also since he's all skill shots, immobile, super squishy, and very telegraphed I doubt he'll see any serious pro play. Katarina has a better chance of being a serious pick in pro play than Hwei
Saying kata has a higher chance of being played than hwei in pro might be one of the most delusional things I’ve ever heard about league

@@TroubbleBubble let’s check, has 2 winning matchups, no prio, only playable when ahead, not a champ till 2 items. Kat literally doesn’t work as a champion in organized play, she only is useful when fed which will never happen in pro play, not to mention that their jg has free reign all early game since kat has no prio and no pressure, perma weak side. Literally no matter how much they buff kat she will NEVER be used in pro because she is conceptually not allowed there. Hwei at least has the luxury of being able to play as a traditional mage with utility, albeit worse than others at the current moment. Your actually delusional.

hwei doesn't need more damage at all. I top charts with him almost every game. You just have to know when to switch between the more reliable abilities to the more damage abilities.

man i used to love you hewi vids but now you're just complanin non stop (even more than a mid laner does normally), you're like that due that goes to a place to eat and says ti's shit but still goes to the same place instead of other places that are available. I feel sad cos every time you upload a hwei vid where you complain non stop then I'd have to find another video to eat food with :(

Pekin plays high elo, where Hwei's faults are on full display against fundamentally better champs - so yes, he complains. Idk if you watched the video at all, but even a full rotation of abilities cannot kill squishies and he wasn't far behind during those moments. Then you have tank Zac killing everyone lol. Hwei needs some work. He's not unplayable and definitely you'll see both low and high elo stomps (the latter is rarer and very dependent on more factors than just how well someone pilots him though).
But ya know, regardless he still plays him. I think Pekin wants him to be good, which is why he plays him so often, so his feedback to Riot is more than just ''buff dmg, buff cd'' or if it is that, he knows exactly why he's calling for these type of buffs and can better indicate exactly how much of a buff would bring him more in line with the current game state. You can like a thing and criticize it. These aren't mutually exclusive concepts.
