  • A review of the Cel-Fi Go phone range booster, the only legal signal amplifier on the market at the moment.
    After having an external phone antenna and Strike Cradle setup for years in my 4wd, I couldn't wait to try the Cel-Fi Go by Nextivity. This is an awesome bit of kit, all you need is one bar or reception and it will turn it into a useable 4-5 bars with internet.

    So this is up to 100 db. Pretty good. Something you might want to try would be hooking up a Yagi antenna to it and use the map to point the antenna. Unlike a vertical, the Yagi will be much more directional and get better range. They are used here in Canada in remote locations.

    This is a great video. We sell a lot of these devices, despite their price. It's not often we get to see them in action here at work, although we do get feedback from time to time.

    Thank you for the review, very well covered, so is your review on mobile phone aerials. One thing not mentioned is that for any radio above 100Mhz (UHF CB and mobile phones), line-of-sight is a key factor for coverage. I know nobody like the inconvenience of having a 1-2m aerial on the roof rack, but coverage will be greatly improved. So when stationary or driving in the open, this can be a "cheap" way to improve coverage.
    Here is another cheap solution we've often used. Most new phones can be VoLTE enabled, this allows you to make/receive calls using wifi. We suspend a 4G hotspot or a cheap wifi dongle ($30) at the top of a cheap telescopic 9m squid pole. If the hotspot get the signals, then wifi to the ground will do the rest, including internet browsing, emails, phone call, however SMS are not supported with VoLTE.

    I have one in my car hooked as 3G only and to a broomstick on the boot for network side and on glass for client side. It works exceptionally well and I love it. So much easier than cradles which would only boost one phone in the car.

    Bro, you shouldn' t have that radiating device as close to you as you have.
    You pretty much always seat right next to it.
    Not a good thing...
    Otherwise great job as always ;)

    • @garyfoale3707
      @garyfoale3707 Před 4 lety +2

      The most powerful radiating element is on his bull bar. The connections are made with coaxial cables, so limiting radiation. There's the local antenna (presumably low power as it's only to the phone). And come to that, phones themselves are tested to be safe to listen to.
