@@arnoldj.samson5795in my opinion the Steve mains didn’t do anything wrong. The design for steve itself is the most fundamentally boring and/or frustrating to watch in this entire game. And it hurts my soul to see “boring” win in a game that I used to find so exciting.

Something that sets smash apart from other fighting games is how comebacks work. In a game with traditional health bars, making a comeback is a slow, arduous process of whittling down the opponent until a golden opportunity arrives. In Smash, a comeback can happen in an instant because someone's timing was off or even simple greed and cockiness.
With the addition of rage, I thought comeback felt more sour. But Ultimate’s tuning to it is amazing and always felt justified to me. Your point is exactly right

Considering how recovery wise the move is one of the easiest to cheese in the game still and weakens if you want to use it as a projectile power wise I'd say having extremely high knockback helps soften the blow when something stupid gimps Ness. But that is just me.
On the other hand, if steve had managed to block or avoid it, he would have had all the time he needed to finish ness off.
