I'm here a year later to say yes I watched and recorded this game in 1985. Great memories back then. The commercials were amazing. Amazing Stories on Sunday night! Crappy school on Monday but it wasn't so bad in elementary school! This era had such a great feeling on network TV. Shame life is so bad now.
I just love watching football clips of old school games that I never saw it's really awesome
Damn.... time flies. Remember this like yesterday..
I was only 7 when this game first aired and I remember being drawn into the drama of the game towards the end ( thus beginning my weekly football viewership on the spot ).
Also, I also began strongly disliking both the Raiders and specifically Todd Christiansen on this day. I can’t remember exactly why re: TC , but I’m rewatching now to hopefully stir my memory.
I also remember thinking that the Raiders QB Marc Wilson looked like a “jerk” too.
Wow look at that quality! Love me some 80s elway. Post more bro
Todd Christensen #46 of the Los Angeles Raiders
Career Accomplishments
2× Super Bowl champion (XV, XVIII)
5× Pro Bowl (1983-1987)
4× All-Pro (1983-1986)
2× NFL receptions leader (1983, 1986)
Allen is a class act ,not 2 many players help the opposing team up !!🎉
Thanks! I always wanted to see the end to this game. I was a 9 year old huge Bronco fan, but we had to leave to go to a church Christmas program and I missed the overtime.
I vividly remember this game, 1 was 13 yrs old
Wow, Elway had running back speed and of course a missile for an arm.
Great comeback win for the Los Angeles Raiders. The Los Angeles Raiders swept the Denver Broncos in 1985.
...and that was the reason the Broncos didn't make the playoffs that season. The Broncos, Raiders and Seahawks all went 11-5 and tied for the lead in the AFC West....but because of tiebreakers, the Raiders and Hawks made the playoffs, the Broncos didn't, as they lost a tiebreaker to the Patriots for the final wild card spot (who also finished 11-5 and second in the AFC East) in record vs common opponents. This made the Broncos the only team in NFL history since the 1970 league merger to finish the season with 11 or more wins and not make th e playoffs. Since then, only one other team has matched that dubious feat--the 2008 Patriots.
@@joemusiceclecticity6863 your joking right!! My Raiders were 12-4 n of course gift wrapping the game to the restarted Patriots at the coliseum they scored all their points cause of us giving them everything, Seahawks were 8-8 the broncos were 11-5, they were 11-5 in 84 too cept for the fact that the officials n league per usual Robbin us!!!!! Both times against Denver in 84 thus makin us be 11-5 while Denver what at least 2 games givened ta them an that end up what the Fugazy 13-3 Seahawks were 12-4 an it woulda ran thru us no trip tada Kingdome as we woulda shoulda!!!! Been 13-3 n even with Miami 14-2 we owned them it's us beaten da niners who were 15-1 btw but we woulda wrecked them too!!!! Nuff said fa now!!!! An now we cease to exist!!!! Till!!!! OAKLAND!!!!! @@rossyrusso72You're tripping the 84 Raiders wasn't beating the 84 SF 49ers...
Look what happened in the L.A. Coliseum September '85 when SF destroyed the Raiders in L.A. 34-10.
remember going into my room after this game and weeping(age 15 denver colorado)
My favorite Raider team...1985
love the commercials
I have the post game show to this great broadcast.
Another stellar performance by Marc Wilson. Can 't understand how he isn't in the Hall of Fame. I know most of the AFC West would vote for him, as would the Patriots, they certainly saw his brilliance at the helm.
Raiders QB Marc Wilson threw 3 interceptions against the Patriots in their AFC Divisional playoff game that season which the Patriots won 27-20. It was the Raiders special teams that killed them in that playoff with two fumbles, both leading to Patriots TD’s.
I know right? Glad the Raiders passed on that Dan Marino bum back in '83 when they had the chance. It's not like he ever did anything memorable.
Wilson just wasn’t a starting NFL QB or a real leader. HE was the biggest albatross and obstacle to the Raiders Super Bowl hopes.
To Mark's credit, his career was riddled with injuries, and he remains Raider loyal to this day.
Not to mention that in the year 1985 when this game was going on I was born
1:24:07...Marcus was so good, he was the Raiders best option on a 3rd and 5.
Imagine 85 was really the ONLY season the one season when he was the focal point of the offense what a friggin crime..you watch as many games as possible from that 85 season and that’s basically what we missed as fans during their whole time in LA
The 85 Raiders had everything...except a quarterback. They were a good enough team to offset this AWFUL performance by Marc Wilson.
You said it! Those Raider teams were great. They almost certainly would have won another Super Bowl if not for the pathetic Wilson.
Despite Rozelle the league/officials etc Robbin us fa years on end pretty much day 1, conspiring an sabataging us every year, and again in 83 with da kabosh of elway it shoulda blew up in their faces like no tmo but smart smart Davis doesn't take Marino!!! He shoulda been a Raider!! Even the officials wouldn't of been able to throw enough BS Flags/calls against us ta make us lose that's how dominant we woulda been!!!!! Unfreakenbelievable!!!! An now theirs no more of my Raiders after what they've done!!!!!... again!!!!! OAKLAND!!!! RAIDERS!!!! Faeva!!! PS till we come back tada only place where suposta BE!!!!!🇮🇹🦏🐼🦍🐬🦊
Yep. During those Wilson years, he was their worst enemy. The team only gave up 19ppg during his time. HE was their problem.
That's a trip. OT was introduced to end ties. And the inaugural OT game ends in a tie!
Broncos went 11-5 in 85 but only went 2-4 in the AFCW which cost them tie breakers.
Wrong my Raiders were 12-4 an their was 8 division games not 6 kid, an now my Raiders cease ta be after what they've done again!!!! OAKLAND!!!! RAIDERS!!!! Faeva!!! That is till we come back to the only place we're suposta be!!!!🇮🇹🦏🐼🦍🐬🦊
raiders should have gone to the super bowl that season. sadly for the raiders MARC WILSON BLOWS!
Wilson was horrific and Al and the coaching staff compounded it by acting as if he wasn’t..the offense should’ve been conservative and just leaned on Allen(running and receiving) and Christiansen and then just let the defense win the games..what a waste those years were
your right. he did absolutely did. but im sorta glad they didnt go that year. the 85 bears were gonna just totally annihilate and brutalize anybody that showed up that year. it was just their time. and that was the beauty of the game back then. its just certain teams that by about week 4- you already knew. they were about to terrorize the entire league...
@@scottbuono2507 when Rozelle kabashed us with elway it shoulda been a blessin an blew the hell up in his an the leagues face Robbin us from day 1!!!! As we AL shoulda clearly took Marino an course he doesn't!!!! Even with instructions from Rozelle to the league/officials to Rob us!!! Haha even they wouldn't of to throw enough BS flags and or not give us the calls we were suposta get to Rob us from victory!!!! That's how Dominant we woulda been with Marino behind center!!! Even if that center wasn't mosebar!!!! Anyway!!! Till OAKLAND!!!!! Know theirs nothin but to watch my Raiders 2019-1960!!!! Be good!!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐼🐻🦏🦍🐬🐊🐳
@@goatmouthjones90 believe it or not Wilson had talent n skill but not enough craft or heart n just too many blatant bone head plays Davis wasn't wrong fa liking him he was wrong for liking him too much n too long ultimately Davis was wrong just like he was about many things he did with my mighty OAKLAND!!!!! Where's the game in Los Angeles at in 1985 that was a classic in the rain
Any chance you have the week 12 game in 1985 vs Raiders & Broncos?
Marc Wilson was HARD to watch. You talk about a DOUBLE AGENT! The Raiders were NEVER going to win or go to a Super Bowl as long as Wilson was QBing that team. I can only imagine how difficult it was for teammates to say WE came up short” instead of “HE.”
2:16:45 70 yards in the air with velocity. Incomplete pass.
We just won baby!
Put the Gold 'color' back in the Silver and Black !
When Marc Wilson played you had to be wide open for him to complete a pass. And then you had to hope he didn't over throw you. He had absolutely no *touch* as a QB and couldn't throw directionally.
Denver missing this year. Coupled with about half a dozen 10-6 missing the playoffs the next few years . Ultimately lead to the NFL adding a 6th team to the playoffs. Wellth and $ of course.
Shanny Fanny was the OC...
This loss helped sink the Broncs to 11-5 and they missed the playoffs. Cleveland was 8-8 and won the AFC Central 🤣
I thought this game was a snow game but I don't see any snow. Maybe I have it mistaken with another game.
Matthew Cole Late and for sure in OT the snow is spitting. I had same recollection and it turns out to be the case. 2:26:20
It picks up pretty steadily as OT goes on.
There was a snow game against Green Bay in 1984 and then in 1985 someone threw a snowball at the 49ers placeholder during a field goal attempt.
Did the Raiders only have two receivers (Dokie Williams & Jessie Hester) for this game? I never saw them go to a 3 receiver set the whole game.
It was in 1985 that was really the beginning of the decline of the Raiders in the 1980’s. The team had hung on too many players who were part of their 3 Super Bowl title teams and when free agency wasn’t rampant as it is in today’s NFL, their draft picks in the 80’s other than LB Matt Millen in 1980 and RB Marcus Allen in 1982, most of them never panned out and they really never found an QB to be the air apparent to Jim Plunkett or a WR or TE to stretch the field vertically like Cliff Branch, Fred Belitnekoff, Dave Casper & Todd Christiansen. They thought that future QB was Marc Wilson when they drafted him in the first round in 1980.
The Raiders didn't use 3 WR sets under Flores. They were more likely to use 3 TE's.
Branch was on the roster never seen him!!! I liked barksdale they only threw him in once in a while!!!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐼🐻🦏🦍🐬🐊🐳
@@conlanding Howie Long was a great draft pick. Greg Townsend was a good draft pick. Sean Jones was a good draft pick. And Stacy Toran(RIP) was a good draft pick who's life was tragically cut short.
The Raiders did have a lot of aging players, but they were still a good team throughout most of the 80's. They just didn't have a solid QB.
He reminded Al of Lamonica
HOWIE!!!
I don't know what the Raiders were thinking getting Marc Wilson. He was terrible.
Marc wilson got away with throwing 4 picks, and managed to get the win
53:06 that's just unfair with that rocket
I think losing alzado hurted the raiders that year too and having that bum Marc Wilson at quarterback throwing 21 interceptions
Alzado was nearly done at this point. Sean Jones was a monster though, and he played very well. How the Raiders let him go to Houston is far beyond me???
Dennis Smith dropped 4 would be interceptions in this game.
@Leonard Washington Well, Jim Plunkett was color blind for REAL & yet he turned out great!
Why Raiders made Wilson a starter. Smh.
Marc Wilson = A doofus looking version of Howard Stern. Nothing screams more of 1980s NFL was the bands playing fan fare music from a corner in the stadium.
At 1:45:10, there was an advert for Chrysler. Somehow they claimed that some POS Chrysler could outperform a BMW 528e. Yeah right. BTW, where is the Labaron GTS anyway ?? If anyone ACTUALLY believed this crap, comment.
Denver went 11 and 5 and missed the playoffs
Miss these days...Watching NFL with my Dad and Brother and smelling Mom's cooking from the kitchen on a cool fall evening.
