Just drown every decent guitar sound in reverb and chorus and you are there. To complete the effect, cut off your drummer's arm, and ask him to sound like a ÂŁ10 drum machine.

Yep, a Strat into a treble booster into an AC30
Just get a decent strat, a vox ac30 and an eq pedal. Leave the eq pedal flat except for the treble frequencies.
don't forget years of acidic sweat to strip the paint off your strat and leave it in the Dublin mountains for a while to cure ... and get the tone

@Andrew Harper he used his custom stratocaster with twin humbuckers and a single coil in the middle, for the guitar tone of that song i'd strongly reccomend a marshall amp with a fuzz pedal and a flanger/chorus like the EHX Electric Mistress which is both a flanger/chorus

In the 70s, a 59 Les Paul was an old guitar. Not an expensive vintage guitar. Carry on.
A 59 would have still held its price depending on condition as I owned one in 72 for ÂŁ400. And a 59 tele I sold both to buy a car in 74 and a hayman 30 30 talk about regrets lol

it goes without saying J's signature Squier and a Marshall Origin
dial in the EHX Electric Mistress with a slight warble for freak scene and get a big muff with the fuzz maxed out and a vox wah in front like hendrix to get the little fury things tone, and i think some sort of OD to go with the fuzz

@matt'n'bea : yay. Good to see you back. My old DSL 401 (predecessor to the dsl40) has the FX loop volume on the front. If you jump the FX loop plugs with a jack in the back, the knob works as a presence. I'm guessing it's a happy accident of the design, and I can't remember if it's because the FX loop is parallel or in series. Whichever it is, that's why the FX vol works like that.
Some of the best tones ever on this channel.

I was in London for 2 days last week and made the trek out to Guildford to check out Andertons and Rabea and Matt were filming this (I think) episode. Was great seeing the store and seeing how they film. In case anyone was wondering: Rabea's hair is actually enormous - it's awesome.
You should test out whether some setups which were made for one style are suitable for others, e.g. a thrash metal setup for blues. I wonder how much the style of playing or the music comes into play with the sound. Obviously the amp and pedal settings will have to be tweaked a lot.

@@BramEngelenMusic i always thought it was a phaser. sounds like a phaser, but colour me educated, it's a flanger!
@@Simeon_Harris Haha trust me, it has confused me more than once as well! The way he used it a lot of times makes it sound like a Phaser in the mix oddly enough - however, both Brian and Phil did use phasers every once in a while
Great sound guys this one of my favourite sound likesđ€ been a massive fan of lizzy since I picked up a guitar. I got a boss GE-7 in lock down when I had a peddle melt down n went from 2 pedals to 12 in about a week, đ its probably the only pedal you need for that classic rock tone tbh. đđ€đž
