To me the reason is that they can't have Curry ends up with more rings than Lebron. It's kinda obvious to me since that Lakers series last season.
Notice how contrast the refs were at treating Lakers players/floppers like Reaves, Russel, and Schroder. They be giving them every phantom calls 😂 a lot of them not even shooting fouls, contributing to GS's mounting team fouls in any quarter asap, making them can't play defense cos they'll be punished with Lakers fts for every little fouls once they surpass that 5 team fouls limit.
Now compare that to that 2016 finals where Curry got hacked in almost every chance he played off-ball. Dude got his shirt pulled, got his body grabbed, got smacked (sometimes to the point where he literally fell down on the court) and yet refs didn't blow their whistles against that Cavs team.
It's crazy to me how in one case the refs allow the game to be soo physical, and how in the other one the refs basically will call every little contacts that's much less significant than the fouls that Curry got on that 2016 finals series. What's identical tho,, is that both officiating clearly favoring Lebron's team when they're up against GS. To me that's a clear pattern to recognize.

Thanks for noticing the NBA’s treatment of Steph. The mainstream sports media ignores this fact. Even when Kerr brings it up after games, they just say it is because he takes too many jump shots. As someone who worked with corporate strategy before it’s really obvious to me.
It’s not about viewership, Silver is just a small pawn.
It’s Nike that wants the next Jordan Brand. Which is worth more than half of the entire nba teams combined. Average nba team revenue is $350 million. The Jordan brand's revenue in 2022 exceeded US$ 5 Billion with a B.
They bet on LeBron, it’s just corporate protecting their asset. Curry is the only guy capable of eclipsing LeBron and they can’t have that. That’s why they don’t care about other non Nike players like Embiid or Harden.
Imaging if they didn’t cook 2016 or last year. Curry would have 5 or 6 rings and bron only 3. You can’t be in the goat convo like that, and Nike would lose BILLIONS.

The worst part is how they have deluded fans with this 'jump shooting' rhetoric. "The Warriors dont deserve fouls cause they are a shooting team", and it just trickles down from there. As a result, "Steph shoots too much to get fouls" is the go-to line by every single fan that apparently doesnt watch games. On the other hand there's clear discrepancies left and right. The Lakers, for example, are last in drives, yet they have led by miles in the free throw differential for 2 years now (they are in the plus by the hundreds both years). If you dont want to admit theres has been a clear conspiracy to disrupt the Warriors, then at the very least there's a clear bias by the officials.

I’m so glad you are actually shedding light onto this issue… I was saying this for years and years, ever since Curry cemented himself as a Champion and 2X MVP, I’ve noticed this foul calling disparity, and when the Warriors were dominant, it never mattered, because they’d just shoot the damn lights out and there was nothing the Refs could even do… but now that they are aging, and their roster isn’t as deep or talented, Curry has been having to carry the Warriors, and has had to adapt and learn how to play through not getting calls… he’s so used to it, that he just accepts that he’s getting grabbed and pulled all game long and that actually helped him revolutionize his game, to where he’s moving off ball the entire damn game, and dudes are straight up going to the emergency room after trying to keep up with him and guard him. Curry is so lethal, and smart, that he’ll put you in a blender, and you’ll come out like some stupid ass health shake that nobody wants, lame ass disgusting ass health shake with bitter taste in your mouth your defense was so sad it’s disgusting bro.
The officiating has not just been lopsided towards Curry, but towards the Warriors in general… the league 100% is trying to stop the Warriors from winning another title, and the refs are doing everything they can to get teams back into the game with timely whistles, and free throw attempt disparities… if you actually look at the Team stats of each game the Warriors have won, most of the time, just about every time, the free throw attempts are pretty even, within 5 or 7 give or take… but if you look at all the games they’ve lost, I’d say at least 85% of the time, the free throw attempt disparity is at least 2:1 or close, if not 3:1, and some in some abysmal games, 4:1… that is how the league and the Refs do the Warriors… but see, they don’t do it every game, they pick certain games… so that means they’re either being careful not to make it too obvious, OR, only certain Ref crews are corrupt, and only certain Refs are willing to do the bidding of either Nike, or Lebron, or Adam Silver, whoever is behind this BS, that’s the ONLY thing that makes sense…
But getting back to my point, Curry is so good, like others have said, but he IS with out a doubt, THE GREATEST SHOOTER to ever walk this earth, and if he got the calls any other star would get, he would average 35-40 PPG every year, and win multiple scoring titles. He won a scoring title despite the league trying to stop him… The overwhelming majority of Curry’s points are from actually scoring, without the charity stripe… and in some ways, I’m glad he doesn’t get love from the Refs, because that just tells me Curry isn’t corrupt, and that he’s that good, they have to slow him down and try to stop him by not letting him go to the line, by allowing defenders to hack him up and tug, grab on his arms constantly, foul him and hack him at the basket… and Curry still scores. Think about it, Curry is playing Playoff basketball every night he steps on the court… by the time all these other soft ass “stars” reach the playoffs, Curry goes, “Oh that’s cute, I’ve been playing like this. Now hold my beer.”

@@thej1615 That’s pretty crazy… probably a little too far for me. I don’t think Kerr is in on sabotaging Curry… Kerr’s rotations bother me sometimes, but he has little to work with, especially with injuries or when Draymond is out… The Warriors run by Meyers was hoping by drafting Wiseman that it would work out, but Wiseman turned out to be a bust. He was a #2 pick, you have to try to play him and see if he develops and give him some time… the two timeline strategy by Meyers was a failure, and that’s one of the reasons Meyers “left”… Lacob let him save face and resign, but Meyers was pushed out. He’s partly responsible for drafting a young core instead of trading them for win now veterans… and instead that’s what all the other teams in the West did. Meyers drafted pretty well, but he missed on Wiseman, and didn’t get any significant trades done and Lacob was probably pissed because Wiseman lost his trade value every minute he played, and teams could see he wasn’t developing well, his stock fell hard. So, Kerr playing Wiseman, really - he had to because he was a #2 pick and the hopes were he could be a star Center, but it didn’t pan out.

My friend is a die hard Celtics fan and hates Curry because, well, he's the daddy of the Boston Celtics. He sends me clips of all the missed fouls during games just to piss me off because it's that obvious how corrupt their treatment of Curry is. I mean every single game, this man watches every warriors game from beginning to end just to find all these clips. He thinks it makes me mad but I'm so numb to it after all these years that now even he said he doesn't do it to anger me, it's become a thing we do out of the hatred towards the officiating.

I have always believed that Joe Lacob's complaint on their luxury tax despite using players that they drafted is what led to the foul calls against the Warriors, not just Curry. If Curry were to get the free throws he's supposed to get, that would be additional 6-8 free throws. But the discrepancy in free throws is always double digits, sometimes almost 20. So the entire team is being punished, not just Curry.

However, they reviewed it and said it was a common foul because Sexton closed out from a short distance. What does that even mean?? So, you can close out on someone's landing space and injure them as long as it's from a short distance?? Even the announcers agreed it was reckless before they overturned it.

I have two words for you…. Ad@m Silver
This dude wrote the book about the greatest team of all time(the Bulls) back in the day. They have since scrubbed the book from existence as much as possible, due to his role/title in the NBA, but its true. His obsession of the game started with MJ and ends w/ LBJ. So to set the record straight, he has a huge amount of bitterness towards the Warriors and Curry. This is why Dreymond gets treated the way he does by the league w/ fines and suspensions too. The Lakers-W’s playoff series was yet another example of this obvious bias. Lets not forget the records set in the Cavs Warriors finals upset(FT attempts, Steph fouling out, DG’s suspension). After that game 7 upset in Oakland, Silver went on stage almost immediately w/ a Speech he had written out to congratulate the Cavs’ victory(he KNEW they were going to win) and had it nearly memorized verbatim. The reason Silver got the job in the first place was not bc of his love for the game primarily.. it was because of his experience in Law as an attorney. Make no mistake, this man is the epitome of a needle nose prick that’s destroying the NBA by pushing the gambling aspect so hard. He knows all the legal loopholes in this “entertainment” business. Similarly to the NFL. This is why these two sports are promoted in Vegas now more than ever. You know what they say: Follow the $$$ and you’ll find the answer.

If you look at jordan and kobe and tmac and other shooters they do the "kick" also when they take long twos or threes that involve jumping to get leverage. Kicking the defender to get contact is also different and some players indeed did that. But moving your leg oe foot forward when shooting long shots is quite normal

Most truest truth brahhh! Numbers don't lie! Now, bashers gonna' come out with content that has numbers to counter but, we'll see players not in Curry's league! If and when Curry isn't playing anymore, I won't be watching the NBA as much. And neither will millions of others! Lol!!!

Btw he is the most defended player I’ve ever seen! As soon as he crosses the halfcourt line, 1 or 2 defenders tighten up against him. Also when he’s roaming around, he gets held, pushed, etc and gets hardly any whistles.

You know that's what make his high point games more impressive. He does it without almost (if any) free throws. Vs other players who make like 30% free throws.

another one you can add can be directed against the GS franchise itself, with Joe Lacob willing to pay any amount of luxury tax to keep Steph happy and give him a chance of winning, now since Steph by his greatness enabled the revenue needed for that, it has became too unfaire for the league, yes ladies and gentlemen, Steph is like some kind of Wilt, they are making it harder for him to make it faire for other, hence in my book, he is the GOAT

Yes, exactly this. People who say it's because he shoots 3s all the time haven't watched enough of his games to know he takes it to the rim A LOT! And it's not just jump shots. He's taking it to the rim with 3 or 4 defenders sometimes. One day he's going to snap his ankle and then suddenly people will go back and see all of these missed calls and finally give it credence. But by then, it will be too late.

A FGA is not charged if the player is fouled in the act of shooting before the ball is in flight and the goal is not made.

And with all the sports gambling companies involved in your league, there are just too many incentives for manipulation...it's sad for this great sport.

Lets get this straight: It is not unfair to call a foul as a foul. It IS unfair to INTENTIONALLY not call fouls simply to prevent a player from getting due opportunity from another player's violation of game rules. It IS unfair to give ANYONE benefit of doubt or lack thereof over another player regardless of their popularity. When I watch sports, I want to see player skill, not gaming the system or risking health of others for sake of status.

Thank you for making this video. It's sickening to watch these other players throw their bodies into defenders and get calls to make up half their points then we have to hear how great they are! Then we watch Steph who should be the most protected player in the league getting under cut with no protection at all. It's just crazy...I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that when Steph Curry retires I'm done watching basketball...I've watched this cheating/rigging for 50 years and I can't take much more!

Melo also hardly gets any free throws compared to other stars. It causes him to try harder to get a favorable call, which has led to his most recent injuries imo. It also makes his FG percentages lower overall, and he would also average way more points if he got calls. Melo is also a puma athlete for what it's worth

Great vid. I would love to see another video with all NBA starting point guards based on a regression of lay up attempts per minute played to foul attempts (more data than 3:22). I think doing this would grealy increase the argument. If you can grab the data i would be happy to help you with the regression.

0:48, that is a very dangerous foul. The chances of a shoulder dislocation is off the charts and it can’t be avoided. In fact every foul mid air collision has an extremely high shoulder dislocation chance simply unless you practice it, you can’t rotate mid air. It isn’t fun and it will knock out the player for almost the whole season to prevent another reoccurring injury. Basketball is a contact sport, but the nba should make harsher penalties for such actions that can detrimentally hurt other players. Injuries are not part of the game

A key stat to this narrative is a) what % and ratio of Warrior's possessions are fastbreaks (ie largely uncontested layups) and b) how many of those have Curry trying to finish at the fastbreak. Then compare that stat to other fastbreak finishers on other teams throughout the nBA. I'm sure that stat will show EVEN MORE GLARINGLY the anomaly that is Steph with (lack of) foul calls.
