    I love that she was upfront about not knowing how to cut textured hair. A lot of other stylists would take your money and then complain when you come back.

    I pre-poo every wash day (every 6 days); I use coconut oil to prevent hydro fatigue. I noticed I get less shedding with pre-pooping. Washing my hair without pre-pooping leads to breakage for me. It’s an extra step but it’s worth it for me.

    I prepoo with an either water and oil or oil and aloe water. It’s the ONLY time I detangle on wash day, so for me, it’s not an extra step. Detangling in the shower after shampooing adds two hours to my wash day because my hair is so dense. It’s just easier and faster to do it beforehand. I prepoo every wash, whether I shampoo or cowash.
    As far as the ‘drying feeling’ you’re getting, i think that’s just the prepoo absorbing into your hair because it’s so dry-since you don’t do this a lot you may not have been expecting that.
    I wouldn’t buy this product because it’s actually still cheaper and you get more longevity with an aloe leaf and a jar of coconut oil. Plus, as goopy as it is, I still don’t think resembles real aloe, my two cents.

    I haven't used the African Pride pre-poo but I recently discovered the Mane Choice Heavenly Halo pre-poo and I love that. My hair is so soft and moisturized when it is being rinsed out. All of what you are experiencing with the application of the pre-poo is normal. It is not supposed to stay wet. In the winter I pre-poo with a hot oil treatment, oil or a pre-poo every other week. Your hair should feel more moisturized after you rinse it out and before you start to shampoo, since you said it did not, I would not use that again.

    I pre poo with grape seed oil and olive oil at least once a month. But I don’t detangled. I apply it to the strands as is and sit under the heating cap. After I get in the shower and cleanse I detangled with my conditioner. I’m so afraid of breakage that I don’t do it when my hair is dry. The oils get warmed up under the heating cap and my hair almost detangles itself with the oil and heat. But I’m careful to wait until the conditioner is in to finger detangled. All that combing and pulling worries me. Great video!!!!

    I think some of the reason it's gone is because Tayloranne kept putting more in her hair in an attempt to keep it wet, I don't think she realized she was doing that, lol. Also, it may not FEEL wet to you guys but to me, your hair LOOKS wet or at least you can tell you have 'product' in it. I watched Lorianne because girlfriend had the makings of an old-fashioned AFRO going on with all that frizz, so when her hair didn't DRY out (or REVERT back to being 'frizzy' as it dried) to me that said something about the product's ability to actually moisture your hair. Because as a 4c had that been me and my hair was ACTUALLY drying, ALL that frizz would have come right back, lol! Different heads do indeed react differently. I think this video was 'cool' especially in the aspect that Lorianne's experience says, "No, some 3s have to worry about that AFRO making frizz too!"

    I "Pre-poo" the night before wash day. So I'll spray my hair with water Thurshday night, and use JBCO or other oils, and then just use my wet brush to detangle, then put my hair in 2 large flat twists and leave it in over night and the next day, and then wash as usual Friday evening. It's a great way to incorporate oils into your regime.

    Glad you like your haircut, LoriAnne!
    I pre-poo my daughter’s hair to protect it from breakage and reduce hair loss when it gets tangled with shampoo. She has short, dense, curly 4a hair and pre-pooing helps to elongate her hair so that I’m reaching her scalp and entire strands when I wash it. We use the Deva Wash Day wonder and also the Alikay Knots Be Gone.

    I love pre pooing i pre poo every wash and i sit under the steamer. It minimizes shedding, it helps reduces the stripped feeling from shampoos, promotes growth, and it helps you get shed hairs without causing breakage. It also helps prevent tangling while washing because you’ve removed shed hairs. I love prepooing aka hot oil treatment. I take some hot water put it in a coffee cup then put my bottle of oil in that water and let sit and then apply and then sit under the steamer. My hair has grown a lot because of it.

    Taylor was just not impressed😂 Ever since i started prepooing i lose way less hair. Idk how you can just go straight in with shampoo. My hair would be a tangled dry mess after not doing my hair for the whole week.
    I prepoo with either Aussie Moist or Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner. Then shampoo my hair. Then deep condition. It works. But when i pre poo i spray my hair down with warm water since i have low porosity hair.
    I bought the leave in cream and the curling cream. I think those are good. They are definitely moisturizing and defines my curls. The best part is the products are so cheap and you get a lot of product.

    The pre-poo process can be done as frequently or infrequently as you like. When you pre-poo, you can use oils, leave in/detangler, deep conditioner, a pre-poo product like this one, or any combination of those. I usually prepoo every week the night before wash day because detangling my hair before washing reduces hair loss for me, and doing it the night before saves time on wash day. For my pre-poo, I wet my hair and apply my fave detangler, Kinky Curly Knot Today. Once my hair is detangled, I scrunch out the extra water and apply oil to my ends. Then i braid and let it sit for a few hours or over night and wash the next day. Sometimes I also add deep conditioner, but I do that right before washing cuz I don't like to dc for more than 30 minutes. The point is, your pre-poo process can look however you want and you can do it as often as you like.

Also a little peppermint essential oil. I have also added aloe vera a few times. Occasionally I pre poo and leave it in and sleep, or on weekends I might pre poo and run errands before I shampoo.

    @TaylorAnne, it’s written all over your face, starting at 7:15...very little is going to replace your Aussie😆.
    I have very dense hair with fine strands and am low porosity hair so I pre-poo only when I have product build-up. I apply the African Pride Moisture Miracle pre-poo in sections by smoothing as you’ve done here, let it sit covered to penetrate, and then detangle. I do not finger detangle (personal preference bc of fine strands) but rather comb out all tangles from the bottom-up. I find the product melts to wet in my hair after I let it penetrate so I have no drying issues. I also have used the product 4 times and have a little more than half the bottle left🤷🏽‍♀️ I did not like the same line’s Chocolate Conditioner...found it to be drying. I liked the butter styler, however.
    Just goes to show you things can work differently for every hair type, and you do NOT need the entire line all the time. Thanks for your honest review!

    Just finished the video. I usually don't pre-poo. I have been wanting to try this product, but couldn't find it in the stores. I think pre-pooing is great when you have a lot of tangles because shampooing hair that is severely tangled can lead to matted hair (for me). I don't generally let my hair get that tangled since I wash weekly. However, I am noticing that since the weather is colder, I can get my wash n gos to last 2 weeks which results in more tangled shed hairs. Because of this, I would like to try this product for times when I haven't washed for 2 or more weeks. Thanks for the review!

    I pre-poo every wash day with CRN Moroccan Pear Custard and my own mixed oils then sit under heat for 30mins. Taylor, aloe is the water substitute depending on how high up on the ingredient list, however, I recently noticed that aloe tends to dry fast in some formulations like the Soultanicals Knappalicious Kink drink for me it dries too fast, it also doesn't have glycerine in it to open my low porosity cuticles so it takes a while for my hair to absorb aloe, My hair has to be drenched in aloe for my hair to absorb it which is why I use warm water to spray my hair or Oyin Handmade's Juices and Berries.

      Dannielle Elliott Awesome! All of us naturals May have different hair types but we all come together on our product decisions. We often say we eat the meat and throw away the bones. Meaning we take what we can from videos and techniques and products that don’t apply to us.... well, that’s ok. Everything doesn’t work for everyone. Thank you for watching us 🤓🦁💕➰

    I pre poo every wash day since having my daughter. At first it was just because of postpartum shedding, but now it really does make my wash day go by faster and reduce shedding tremendously. I always run my head under water before pre pooing (no matter what I’m using) and then keep my spray bottle nearby incase I need to rewet my hair during the process. Grape seed oil works great for my hair as a pre poo but I have been wanting to try this and the mane choice pre poo from that halo line.

  • @stephaniewhitehead7694

    Hi! I prepoo as needed like others have stated to detangle if I have been negligent that week with my hair. I bought the African pride prepoo like month ago but haven't used it yet lol So I'm curious to try it because I do love aloe, but I hope it doesn't dry out my hair like you ladies experienced.
    I did not find it at my local Wal-Mart but it is on Wal-Mart's website, and it was easily shipped to my house.

    Hi Ladies, I have a pre poo from the Heavenly Halo Mane Choice line, and I think I used it once or maybe twice. Don’t really care for the extra step neither, but it was a great pre poo.

  • @menIabenia
    @menIabenia Před 5 lety

    I like this product I was in shock when it detangled my hair. But I did see myself dipping into a lot to get the wet feeling. I had to use my tangle teezer because my wide teeth comb wasn’t doing the trick. I just twisted up my hair and put a shower cap on my hair felt soft after though.

  • @dcurly3192
    @dcurly3192 Před 5 lety

    I don’t pre poo to detangle. I pre poo to add moisture. And I do it with oil. So when I go in with my cleanser it doesn’t strip my hair of as many oils and my hair feels softer afterwards. I use my conditioner to detangle. But the pre poo oil softens my hair once I apply heat that by the time I cleanse and add conditioner it is so easy to detangle. But again I consider pre pooing more of a treatment not a detangled. I don’t know if this makes sense.

  • @-Li-Li
    @-Li-Li Před 5 lety +2

    Hi do you feel like you lost less hair with this than with a regular conditioner like the Aussie one?
    I heard that hair is more fragile when it’s wet and mine break so much under the shower... I may give this a try !

    • @MADCURLS
      @MADCURLS  Před 5 lety

      I feel like i lose less hair period when I detangle out of the shower instead of in it. This product and Aussie I lost the same amount of hair, which is barely any. And it’s true that the hair is most fragile when soaking wet, that’s why I’ve been enjoying Detangling out of the shower lately -TA

  • @BklynBabe
    @BklynBabe Před 5 lety

    Have you ever used aloe in your hair? I think it feels like aloe when it dries, but I don't use pure aloe like that. But I know exactly what TA is saying, it does dry, almost like a sticky gel, but it washes out very nicely. I bought it but I don't have time in the morning to prepoo like that, so I'm just saving it for if I ever have a tangled mess type of day.

    • @BklynBabe

    And Tayloranne, try spraying and misting with water before applying the prepoo if that helps! Sometimes I have to do that in order for products to work and I'm a type 4b. Surprisingly though for the prepoo I didn't have to add water but it is an awesome product especially for the price point!

I only started using it because my hair had knots and it made my shedding so bad and tangled. i was so annoyed and got this then got a trim at a dominican salon and went home to wash my hair after because i cant sit here and wait for stylist in nyc to be open and let my hair spiral out of control!

    O.K. I will admit that I did laugh when LoriAnne took off her sock...sorry LoriAnne...I love this product. The only thing I don't like is that it's a long process. Especially you have to wait awhile before you shampoo your hair. It kept my hair moisturized after I used it. It's a good product. Honestly I usually don't pre-poo because it takes way too long. I think you will cut your hair again LoriAnne. No I don't have a problem with it drying immediately. I saw parts of it in my local Walmart. I would only use mine if my hair was EXTREMELY dry.
