I have enjoyed every altar you have shared with us. I've had many Christian friends who had altars, and many friends who set up meditation altars. It is something we often have in common across many different paths.
I totally agree with you. As a Christian and a bit more(smile) I have two altars, one dedicated to my creative and the other to my spirituality. Each day, at a different time I pay respects to both and it has added so much to my day and life.
Merry Meet! Oh Annie, my altar although simple and frugal, its my everything! it is tryly my most sacred space and I believe every moment I spend time there whether its my wailing wall, my party line, my confessional, my thoughtful niche, my prayer guide, my work station, my relaxation area,my reading nook, my self space, i feel it gets more and more scared as I gather there. I change it, I care for it, I tend to it, I add to it, I edit it, its my all as a representation of my beliefs. Its what i love most of about my path. blessings to you sister in Goddess
I set up my altar today, ignited the candles and just sat there and felt the peace... it was so wonderful. Can't wait to practise rituals with it. I feel like it's now a part of me that's been missing.
I've watched a handful of your videos so far and I want to thank you. You have given me insight and through the gentle depth of your descriptions and experiences you have given me a sort of meditative contemplation about so many topics. I'm not sure how to put to words what I want to communicate to you beyond a simple expression of gratitude. But in regard to this topic specifically, I am looking at my own altar in a fresh light of "what will bring me that sense of centered calm, a sense of sacredness, that will allow me to hold the whole in the palm of my hand." This is something I've been trying to figure out (what do I want on my altar) and you truly helped me see this in a much more poignant light. Thank you.
you've gained a new subscriber. I am a Wiccan priestess and teacher, and I find your videos perfectly delightful and informative. many of my students will be subscribing as well.
It is all about what feels right for you. If she believes hers has to be in a particular direction, then that is so for her. If I am setting up in an open space or room that has space on each wall, I do prefer North myself. But it is not always practical. And sometimes simply doesn't feel right for whatever reason. I am sure you had your reasons for putting yours where it ... perfectly ... is.
Very nice video, Anni. You always have such a down-to-earth vibe, integrity, & honesty that I so love. It's also nice to have contact & videos from people in my own general age group. You explain things very well. Altars of witches are just as sacred as one is to a Christian in their church, a Jewish person to their Torah and holy of holies, etc so it's to be treated with the same courtesy /respect. I'm very intentional in where I place things as well, especially during actual workings.
as always i truly enjoyed your video. i heard you mention once that you worked at something for a lot of years. i don't know what that was but it should have been teaching, because in my opinion, you are a natural teacher.thank you for sharing. much love and blessings to you and yours.
Thank you for this video. I am new and still learning and understanding this path that unfolded naturally to me... it was just a matter of time, really. You are very informative and your videos are helpful to novices like me. Your voice is gentle and calming... wonderful to listen to. Thank you again. Blessed be! 🌿
For many years I could not have a permanent altar. What I did then was have something small that I could lay out a few familiar items in a set pattern. It felt very powerful even though it was transient.
I love your vids...I may not always agree with you. ..but I am Glad your telling about A way that comes from a good place. And that there is no regulated way to put up an altar...All these books say this and that but when it comes down to it...it becomes personal!
I am glad you enjoy my videos. What I enjoy about YT is seeing all the many different thoughts and opinions shared. Always something new to think about :)
I just recently found your videos & I really enjoy them. I am just beginning my path. Your videos are very helpful... I could listen to you talk all night! Lol. Thank you. Sending love & light your way... Blessed Be )O(

Hello, You inspire me to begin with. I have been practicing alone for awhile now and am not sure how to spread out and meet others. I am quite shy but all the same very moved by the pagan ways. Since moving into my new room I have begun to set up my new altar which is always very exciting but being raised into a christian household I only set it up during certain hours and let it remain an ordinary cabinet the rest of its time. Although, I am open about my belief my family has yet to except my differences. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to contact you I could really use some advice. Thank you so much again for the videos that you present us.
The simpler you keep your altar, the easier it will be to have something similar after you move. There really isn't anything you "have" to take with you. If you keep it very simple before your move you'll have discovered the things you feel you "need" to have. And it will probably not be about the things their selves but what they represent to you. And that you will be able to recreate in Kansas as you settle in there. The trick is probably to keep it very simple before you go, I'd think.
. I often feel that my inability to have a permanent altar inhibits my spiritual practice. There is something to be said for having permanent space to always work with and experience deity.
When I say baby witch I am referring to when I was first studying with Wiccan circles. I was in my late teens. I was actually raised as a Lutheran :) I began exploring other forms of religious expression in my mid teens.
What do you think of Sabbatic Wytchcrafe? Have you heard of the Cultus Sabbati and there books? They do not except "Wicca" or "pagan" and say they go back to a tradition of 100`s of years, that was passed on through a long lineage.
Drop Load I know a long time to respond but here is what I have to say...hope it helps. Read, read, read this is how I came into the craft many years ago. Next is introspection. Look into yourself through meditation and journaling. Then work on building up your imagination and visualization pretend to color a blank coloring books remember your favorite song and play it in your mind, remember your favorite scent. Imagine the feeling of silk let the taste of your favorite food fill your mind. The most important thing With Wicca though is the sacred path with Goddess God, the seasons and the elements. Hope this helps
The word around 4:43 where you speak of old churches and sacret objects. How do you spell the word that is for the niche or closet where old churches save their sacred objects? Embre, embrie or ambery? And thank you for creating this video :)
I was just wondering if you might have any ideals for me about having an altar. I.m in the process of down sizing everything I have; because in about six months I am moving down to Kansas to make my home there. I want to have an altar; but, I don't want to build up my altar here and then possible lose some of my stuff in the move. So would you give me some Ideals for an altar that would be easy to pack into a suitcase for when I take my trip on the bus, in my move there. "vampiresfairmaiden"

Thank you, Jamilah. My career was a rather mundane one. But teaching has always been a part of my life. And seeking out teachers for myself :)

Some of the published material on Trad Wicca used cloths on the floor, like Anni's father's handkerchief.
When I say baby witch I am referring to when I was first studying with Wiccan circles. I was in my late teens. I was actually raised as a Lutheran :) I began exploring other forms of religious expression in my mid teens.
Back at you, dear ones!
Thank you for this video!

And about the elements. The glass that represent Earth, what does that glass hold? Salt?
Yes, it holds salt.
