    PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Look closely at how all the pulleys line up with each other. The small flat idler pulley mounted farthest to the rear of the mower is mounted too close to the frame causing it to be out of line with the other pulleys. Take that pulley off and put a few washers under it to space it away from the frame a little farther so that it lines up better with the other pulleys. You’re welcome.

    First of all, this guy makes it look to be easier than what actually is. He is using a lift to work on it, something that 98% of users don't have access to it like myself. So working with this machine at ground level is definitely not an easy task. I have replaced the drive belt 3 times and the idler pulley once and my machine has been used only 191.2 hours. I believe that the premature pulley and belt failure is due to the huge misalignment on the pulley as that issue put so much stress on each other. Today I have replaced the belt for the 3rd time and added several washers to the idler pulley spacer to correct the issue, something that the manufacturer should definitely be responsible for as per their design flaw, but will they?? You know the answer.

    Belt lasted 15 hours on my XD 52. The idler pulley was off about 3/8 inch. Placed washers to lower it to proper height and it is fine. No where have I seen a recall or tech service bulletin stating this problen. Ariens needs to own up to the mistake and let owners know of a potential problem.

    Mine has 190hrs and it pitched the drive belt for the first time last night. I was able to get it back on and finish the job but it is NOT an easy task with the mower on the ground in the middle of a field in the dark. Luckily the belt didnt break so it was not necessary to remove the other belt. But did have to loosen the tensioner that holds the spring completely to get enough slack on the idler arm to get the belt back on.

    My Ikon XL has 100 hours on it and for some reason, i believe the belt tensioner pully is making a clunking sound every few seconds and I can see it moving side to side. Is it possible this needs to be tightened or something?

    • @AriensChannel
      @AriensChannel  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for asking! That tensioner pully isn't adjustable, so you shouldn't need to perform any service with it.

Our dealers are an extension of our team and will be able to help you to a resolution. @@AriensChannel Thanks for the reply, I will check them out. I also checked my mower last night and could not reproduce the problem when I cold started it so I think maybe the mower belt just had a little slack in it that was causing the tensioner pully to bounce a little when it was warm. So it's possible I have no problem and that was just the pully doing its job. It was just weird because I would hear a little "thunk" every time that pulley was tugged but the mower seems fine now. I ordered an OEM belt to have on hand just in case mine goes bad.
